1. Not quite so cracking (and that includes the quality of the photo) but here's my Ashdown rig. Loud, cheap to put together and just the sound I want for my rock covers band. My, is it heavy tho!
2. Here's me, concentrating hard, during this weekends rehearsal/recording session.
3.
Same happened to me when I quit a band a few years ago, most of the band sent a message but both guitarists didn`t acknowledge it at all. Poor show me-thought.
I think a lot does depend on the circumstances behind the band member leaving. Either way, you guys have started to make me feel guilty now!! I will sleep on it!
4.
We are going to have to agree to disagree. Unless violence or illegality are involved, everybody deserves an acknowledgement of communications. To me it's only courtesy. In my case it was because the other three booked 2 x 40 minute gigs in Europe (4 days away in total) without me agreeing to it. Final straw.
I see what you are saying. It's not as if there wont be an acknowledgement from 'the band', there will be and our other guitarist (whom the aforementioned guitarist considered the band 'leader') will no doubt have done that. I just dont see the need for each individual band member to send a separate message.
5.
So, you wouldn't have the courtesy of acknowledging an email of resignation? Perhaps that may be indicative of one of the reasons the guitarist left. Well, each to their own standards I guess. I wish they would take my name off the Facebook page. And stop putting photos of me on it. They were quick enough to cancel my admin duties on it.
If it were under different circumstances yes. The guitarist has essentially (although quietly) thrown his toys out of the pram as things arent going exactly as he wants them to and with little regard to others in the band. He was also the reason our original singer left in january. Things will be better without him and we can get back to enjoying the band again and it being fun. Which is the whole point. It's his choice and I am not wasting time sending 'so sorry to hear you're leaving' messages!
6.
Well done that man. I quit one of the 2 bands I was in, four weeks ago. Two of the members have not even acknowledged it. No announcement on Facebook page. Important me, eh
One of our guitarists quit the band today. I have no intention of acknowledging it. It will get a mention on the Facebook page when his name gets removed and that will be about it.
7. Have you checked to see if the seller is a Basschatter as well? I often see the same basses for sale on Facebook and on here as well.
8. Mmmmm. Have looked at these before but not gone for one. Now thinking I really need to! Probably go for the all black with the maple. What are the strings like tho? Are they a decent branded set or just stock J&D's which will need changing straight away?
9. Just seen that The Blockheads are at The Apex, Bury St Edmunds on 2nd June. Cant wait!!!
10. PB-20 currently in stock: http://m.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pb_20_bk_standard_seri_deko.htm?o=2&ref=mal_a_2&search=1458161647 There as a 5 string progressive but gone already
11. Oh, and I have always used the open A as well.
12. Yeah, I have used his videos for a couple of songs in the past. As you say, accurate and nicely played but I think they are a little joyless sometimes. Nice range of basses though!
13. Cheap basses on the settee. My 2 Harley Bentons:
14.
Stumbledupon I should coco album the other day Really really good collection of tunes there. Feel good fun rockers
One of my most played albums of the 90's. Apart from 'Alright' which was played everywhere so much that I have grown to dislike it. Oh, and 'She's So Loose' - one of my favourite tracks on any album ever!
15. Ordered my second wiring kit from John, this time for a standard P bass. As ever, great communication and really quick delivery of a top class product. Many thanks again and no doubt not for the last time either!
16. Thats done it. I have been waiting for ages for a deko one of these to come up again but I am now wondering why I have waited. I am just going to have to buy one at full price. That really is a great looking bass.
17.
I bought the three pack IEM and an extra receiver. The receiver packs are plastic and feel a bit cheap, but that is hardly surprising at the price. There is a manual six-band selector on the broadcaster and receivers to find the clearest signal, but I have never moved off the first channel. Some people are nervous around channel 70 gear, but the signal is strong and clear and doesn't conflict with our channel 70 wireless microphones. The earphones aren't great, but are useable. We all use our own preferred types of earphones. Personally I use the sport type that clip over the ear because anything else slowly work themselves loose. I'm really glad that I didn't buy a more expensive system as it would be unnecessary expense, although in a bigger band something more sophisticated might be necessary. Add to that, the joy of not having to carry monitors is worth the money alone. They do take a little time to get used to but the quality of sound definition in the ear without extraneous noise and at a volume that is comfortable is wonderful.
Cool. Sounds like a good purchase then. We have gone with the same 3 pack plus 2 additional receivers. Your comment about the earphones is pretty much what I expected as well. A full IEM kit for a 5 piece band for under £200? Bargain. Thanks a lot for your feedback.
18.
I'm impressed with their own brand stuff, too. It's nothing fancy but is astonishingly cheap. I've played with someone who had one of their drum kits, and I use their in-ear monitor system.
What are your thoughts on the in-ear system? We have just bought a Gear4Music set-up for our band but havent had a chance to test it out yet.
19. Oooooh, now then. Almost certainly a Celinder jazz. Just dont know which finish I would go for.
20.
Oof.
Oof indeed! That is very, very, very nice. Congrats.
21.
...but ....but... that first vid is sped up! Now, I know that I might be wrong about this, but I'm still convinced it really is. Just look at the movements in their garments, as well as some unnatural movements in their arms and fingers. I realise it might be my connection or certain YT artefacts, but I'm not aware having seen the same in other vids. Combining this notion with the IMHO strange sound ideals in the production, leads me to think that it might sound a lot better at slightly slower speed.
Having forced myself to watch it again, I dont think there is any doubt about it. That is sped up. By quite a bit too. The second video I dont mind at all tho.
22. Hmmmm......, for me I think it has to be bass player or bassist. Tend not to use the g word!
23. Havent got a PB 50 but have a PB 20 and a JB 20, both the standard series models. These are seriously good value for money basses - really nicely put together, nice finish on them and really good necks on my two. Perfect for upgrading on the standard series models but with the PB 50 you already have a decent Wilkinson pickup in so you are good to go straight out the box. You really cant go wrong for the money in my view.
24.
If your a new player, I would plump for nickles. They are easier on the fingers for newbies. Take a look at Ernie ball super slinkies.
+1 on the Slinkies.
