1. I'm keeping an eye out for a 5 but also have a rather disturbing urge to get a P-bass shape/config! I know about Sadowskys, the Fender American Standard V and the Sandberg P5 but was wondering if there are any other options (especially at a more mid-level price). There seems to be lack of mid priced instruments of this type, so I guess demand ain't that high!
2. Being a huge Talk Talk fan I obviously hate the No Doubt version! For me the playing on the original is far superior. In any case have fun with it, it's great bass line.
3. Sorry! Prefer natural finish Warwicks and couldn't bear to strip off the original blue, so have a bump instead!
4.
Bump. £450 delivered to your door! Please!
PM'd
5.
Have you tried having a word with Andy at Wizard Pickups?
+1. Theres a guy on the forum called Huge Hands who got Wizard to make some up some non-standard pups for his Squire V. You should drop him a PM. Also +1 to trying a new preamp. P.S. Please don't re-route the bass - you'll likely come to regret it!
6.

Whoa, freaky upside down headstock! Gig that and it will really confuse folk after a few pints..
7. PM'd!
8. Squiers and Yamahas are great for the price, and hold their value well. I'd recommend them over Curbow/Tanglewood. Also try the thread below. It's a Bass Collection SB320 from the 90s - they're great basses, though not passive. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=50147
9. I can actually get a great Deaky tone with my Thumb NT by using the neck pup, maxing the mid dial flattening the treble and bass. Deaky playing a Thumb bass just wouldn't have been right, though!
10. SOLD! (pending the pendings etc)
11. Some ding pics, as requested by Kevbass. It's been well used, but looked after! There are few dings on the back and underside edge. None breaks the finish.
12.
That's a superb price. That'd be a great bass even if you paid twice as much!
Nice of you to say, but I'd never shift it at that price! Corvettes go for just over £300 these days....
13. I'd try Pacer Zap CA rather than the Loctite. It's very thin stuff and will easily fill out the crack. Zap Glue.
14.
I always thought Thumbs have 26 frets... somebody clarify for me, please. Nice bass. How do you know it´s a Thumb??
It's a Thumb BO. They have 24 frets.
15. Well I just found out that they have no more in stock!! What's the Jazz V Deluxe like?
16.
Yes, I bought one, then sold it shortly afterwards when I got a Tsai, which was far more playable. I don't rate the neck on the Squier, it's usable but not good.
Well, the neck felt pretty good to me, especially for less than 200 notes! What's a Tsai?
17. So I've dropped some cash on a Squier 5 string, but have some questions about replacing the pickups. This bass uses two J pickups rather than a P-J configuration. What makes should I consider? I'm familiar with all the brands - Bartolini, EMG etc, but am wondering which would work best wired into the stock passive electronics. I'm not looking for colourless reproduction, I'm after the most tone and character I can get from the bass. I'm all about the midrange. Cheers-
18.
I love the cricket bat sized neck
That must be what sold me, I like Warwicks for the same reason....
19. Yes, I've discovered that it is discontinued, but there are still a few out there. I just bought one from Dolphin music in Walnut satin. Should look sweet next to the Thumbs... ^_^ I'd tried the Jazz V, but I much preferred the P because the neck is wider, with string spacing that seems almost identical to that of a 4 string. We'll see how we go when it gets here....
20. Just tried out a Squier Standard P-Bass Special V and was hugely impressed for the price. Obviously the pickups could be upgraded, but the string spacing and neck were really nice. Have been on the lookout for a fiver but have been changing my mind over whether to splash out on a higher end bass (Thumb 5, most likely). However, it now looks like I might actually buy a Fender-style bass! Anyone else tried one of these? Cheers-
21. Loving this, but I have enough 4 string Thumbs...
22.
wow, that's a really nicely designed thumbrest! I tend to just use a B string
Nice isn't it? I had it made for me by Birdsong guitars.
23. Cheers, Ben!
24. Back on sale after a bit of a spring clean and some better photos. Need to sell to make space for a 5 string. Three basses is enough for me! It's year 2000 1PU Warwick Streamer Std (German made - not Rockbass) with an ebony thumbrest and an onboard Seymour Duncan preamp. Has a nice woody sound and the preamp really boosts the highs and lows whilst keeping the original passive character. The preamp also has a full passive switch. The ovangkol/wenge neck was recently replaced so is brand new with a JAN III nut. Comes as is, so don't want to to post. Looking for a pick-up in London. I'm selling at £150. Thanks for looking!
