Just curious, but how from the pictures can you tell it's been defretted after purchasing (which is what I assume you mean)? Plus the seller says it came like that, so why do you doubt him?
Well I'm in the wrong anyway. Manufacturers usually make the lines much more distinctive if they add them, but having read up on these models it appears they did make them with very light fret lines, so there you go! Good luck with the sale.

Has anyone ever added a musicman pickup to a single coil p bass?
rjb replied to Delberthot's topic in Bass Guitars
To be honest I think it'd spoil a lovely looking bass, lookswise.
Normally I'd agree, but seeing as the bass is already blinged to the max, an extra sub-woofer in the boot (so to speak) won't do any harm, in my opinion. Of course, whether the routing would crack the finish is another question.... -

I've seen a P/MM configuration as in the thread below, but never a singlecoil/MM. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=42403 I think it would work well with the finish you have, though. Especially if you get a pickup with exposed pole pieces. EDIT: Five minutes in Photoshop gives you this...... The angle's a bit off, but should give a good enough idea. I think it looks great. It would be interesting to know how they would sound blended. -
Also, check this Yamaha BB out - a great deal for a virtually new bass. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=36177

Spoilt for choice these days! Best thing is to go to a shop and try a few makes. For a great all round mid-priced option I always recommend the Ibanez SR500 as it's light and easy to play. http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/ibanez-sr-500/11054 The Yamaha TRB 1005 is also great. http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/yamaha-trb-1005/70812 Both come in 4/5 string versions have nice shallow necks.

The folk who can afford to pay those prices probably know they're paying over the mark, but are happy to pay up because they can get their hands on what they want without hunting around and waiting for the right deal to turn up. I paid a little over the mark for my second hand Thumb NT in a shop. I was sold because it was made from a particularly nice piece of bubinga (far better than the example on Warwick's site) and I could have it right there and then. Impatience can be a real earner! Having said that, London in general is expensive for buying instruments. You get a far better deal in Manchester or Glasgow where shop rents are likely cheaper.

Luthiers in the UK or Europe doing single cuts at a good price

RIM basses are also worth a look.... http://www.rimcustombasses.co.uk -
Very bad idea. A fretless SR1000 in neon blue is not a saleable proposition - no fretless player will want it, and neither will anyone who would like to own the original bass. Do it to a cheapo Squier or just get a VMJ Squier fretless.

Jamesk86, [Goes and tries to play left handed, being a right handed player..] Good lordy that was really hard. Seems like an awful lot of effort. I'd rather save up and buy a custom if I were you....
Ta very much for the interest everybody but i've decided to keep hold of the thumb due to the fact they're fetching jackshit right now!
I can understand the Thumb having limited appeal, but the prices of other second hand Warwicks (especially Streamers) are just crazy at the moment. Still the market isn't the best right now anyway, what with all this crunchy credit carry-on.....

Cool video. Victor's a good teacher...

Fretless Warwicks work great for me, but then I'm a hopeless fanboy! Warwick necks are a marmite proposition, you either get on with the deep neck shape or you don't. You have to try them for yourself to make a accurate judgement. By the way, has anyone ever seen a Warwick BO IV fretless crop up for sale on these boards? I have a collection to complete. A quick search hasn't yielded any results...

Get one of these - job done. Squier make great basses for a really decent price. If anyone whinges that it's not a "real" Fender the remind them that you're playing in a punk band! http://www.squierguitars.com/products/sear...rtno=0326800505 £230 from GAK brand new... http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/squier...d-precisi/71000 I've tried these and they sound great, giving a nice chunky P tone that will really kick arse through an Eden rig.

That is pure mojo right there.....

Something roughly the same colour as the body of your bass (under the top, I mean). Failing that, ebony would still look the best. Adding another colour (like unstained maple) would throw the whole thing off.
-
On a budget, Squier VMJ fretless. With a bit of cash a Thumb NT/BO fretless. With "loadsamoney", one of these.... http://www.roballenguitars.com/info_deep.html

Are you sure the strings haven't been wound the wrong way?
-
As the guy above said, Ibanez and Yamaha are the Honda of the guitar world - totally reliable and very well priced. I've owned both in the past. For me the best of the Ibanez range for overall value is the SR505 which has Bartolini pickups and is made of wenge/bubinga/mahogany (they also do four string version). I'm constantly plugging this in new player threads. I should get comission.....

Lakland Duck Dunn Skyline or Japanese Fender Precision?
rjb replied to Linus27's topic in Bass Guitars
Lakkys are really good basses. Lots of bang for your buck.
