1. And it's SOLD!
2.
Bump for lower price
If I can shift my Warwick Thumb I'll totally interested in this. Good luck in the meantime.
3. Hi, as I also own an NT4 and a BO5 I've decided my little bass herd needs a bit of variety, so I'm looking for a good MIA Fender P bass (full maple neck preferred) to replace my Thumb BO4 with cash adjustments one way or the other depending on age and condition etc. Not really up for a straight sale the the moment, but £500 at least seems to be the going rate for these and I could be persuaded. I'm in London and would prefer to do a deal with someone who can meet up. The bass is in great nick. It's an '04 model. The only blemishes are two dings at the top of the neck. This doesn't effect playing at all. This is a bit of a feeler at the moment - I want to make that clear so folk don't think I'm messing them about! Cheers. 4. This take on the Jazz looks great. The headstock is especially nice. I'm sure this design has real market potential.
5. Argh, been looking for one of these but that's just not my colour! Good luck with the sale.
6. Pricey for sure, but if demand is there then why not? They'll be built like tanks so the second hand market should open out a bit in a few years.
7. Awesome basses these. Alas, current fashion these days means that everything has to have "Fender" on the headstock! I just bought one recently for more than you are asking and its still worth every penny. Might be best to hold on to it for a while until the tide turns. Cheers-
8. What's wrong with 5 strings? Sounds great though a bit of fuzz!
9. Mmm. This is an odd one. The divots on the body next to the neck aren't familiar to me. I've never seen that shape before. The neck looks like ovangkol to me - it can vary in shade. It could be a replacement done by Warwick themselves, though they usually stamp the new neck with the serial from the original. Most of the 90s necks should be Wenge. Still a decent bit of wood though. P.S. The the truss rod cover plate appears to be on upside down!
10. Hey, You make some great points. If your approach works for you then that's great. I'm personally a fan of dense, high quality exotic woods so Warwicks make sense to me. I find they also give a thicker tone than cheaper woods - I'm not a fan of effects so I like my basses to have a really characterful sound in of themselves. All of mine have been obtained second hand for no more than £1k so they're not too extravagant. Having said that you can get a real bargain if you keep your eye out. A friend of mine got an old Fender MIM for £100 from Crack Converters and its a total peach for the money!
11. Uh oh, so this has cropped up before, then? If this thread is going to get nasty then I won't argue if it gets nuked...
12. Was just wondering about what seems to be a recent trend towards asking for PM offers in the "For Sale" section. I can certainly understand sellers wanting to get the maximum possible for their gear, but doesn't this practice risk turning the the "For Sale" section into more of a "Sealed-bid Auctions" area? I have no particular axe to grind, but I'd love to hear everyone's views....
13. Hey, I wouldn't worry too much - the cool thing about Warwick oil finishes is that if the NT does get badly scratched you can easily smooth the area down with a Brillo pad and re-wax. All fixed! Try doing that with a cracked poly finish! I've had to do this to various Warwicks over the years and it works a treat.
Thanks Havent really played this bass live until the last month or so- thought it was too expensive but once I decided to sell the Marcus have really got into the Thumb. I Do watch it closely at gigs though and have warned the band not to make any sudden moves if they are near me- but the inevitable will happen I suppose!! cheers Bob
14. Where are you based? I hope you don't mind me saying, but naming a ballpark price would help, otherwise sales can turn into secret auctions...... Cheers-
15. Guitar shop staff can be a nightmare, but I suppose that for every one guy who is happy to be in the musical retail business there are another three nursing broken dreams of rock stardom.
16. The Sadowskys I've tried have been lovely, but in my opinion they are definitely more "polite" sounding to me than Fenders. If you're looking for a silky smooth tone then that's great, but the Fenders do seem to have more "attitude". This is possibly down to their more basic electronics. I also agree with Fender upping their game in recent years, having been underwhelmed in the past . I have my eyes out for a nice P Bass to go with my Warwicks and have been impressed by the latest MIM/MIA models.
17.
The HIDEOUS three dots!
Could you not make a little maple plug to fill the middle one in? Or perhaps a glue and maple sawdust filler?
18.
Anyone interested in a Thumb BO?
Always, but I already have two! Here's a bump for you. Good luck with the sale.
19. I think you need to be a bit clearer about your price expectations. Just saying.
20. Warwick! A second hand Corvette $$ 5 string should give you a huge growly sound for not too much money. The Ibanez SR505 is also a great call. You might also want to try a good old Fender P bass strung BEAD. That should give a really punchy tone.
21. Boomp! Offers considered.
22. Boy, am I glad I'm not left handed!
