1. These guys are brilliant.....not everyone can afford to have a Custom Built £3000 special and not everyone wants a Fender Clone I doff my cap to them......
 2.
That gives me a "board error"?
Link fixed.......[topic="27966"]"Press here"[/topic]
 3. I was looking at a different page........
 4.
http://willowsguitar.com/bemarket/shop/ind..._code=127000000 If you translate the page, it even says won.
Lets all buy one then.....bargains even with shipping VAT and import duty ....approx £650... They look much better made than Fenders, but what about the re-sale and what about the name....
 5. Where the 5076 is translates to "Inquiry Possibility" there are no prices on the page.
 6.
That seems a lot more reasonable
The "Crack Whore Trick 6" has a ring to it...... To be serious for a moment....I deal with 2 Sth Korean factories for parts and they normally trade in Euro's or Dollars. All the parts on the site are in Korean Won and no cheaper than UK prices. Going off the spec I would say the price is in US $
 7.
It very momentarily had me in its grasps as well, but then I starting playing around with the currency converter and I think the one that caught my eye is edging on for £5k! I’ve never lost GAS so fast I could have f***ed up on the old currency converter thing cos it doesn’t actually say what currency it’s in, so I’ve guessed that the 980,000 quoted figure is Yen which works out to be 4,994.59 GBP.
I think they may be aimed at the Aussie market. If they become collectable in a few years will they be known as "Old Spunkers".... I was hoping it was South Korean Won as that works out at £2.41 each......ah well. If you are gonna spend that much see Mr Shuker instead. My new range of basses are due out soon the 4 and 5 string "Cum Whores"
 8.
They both sound good IMO – A very Marcus Miller ish sound on the 2nd slapping vid, and the bass in the first vid sound really nice being played finger style. Don’t look too bad either. It looks a lot nicer on the webshyte - http://www.willowsguitar.com/willow_sub1.html - This one apparently costs 5,072 of something, maybe yen? …don’t think that’s right cos it works out at about £25.83 Has anyone found a UK dealer or a price list (just out of interest)? Check this one out as well - http://www.willowsguitar.com/willow_sub11.html PS - This is the one that I would probably go for if I were to take the plunge and buy one (just based on the sound of the other 2 )- http://www.willowsguitar.com/willow_sub12_1.html
All very nice but those
beginner bass headstocks
tend to put me off as well, I mean imagine playing a bass with a beginner headstock. Just doesn't bear thinking about.....
 9.
I would post my Badger amp but I have just had a curry and can't be arsed.
Is your badger quiet normally ?
 10. Last few hours to submit your grungy bits......surely not everything out there is worth polishing ?
 11.
Octaves are pretty easy, you just have to get used to the reverse octave pattern you hold to play them.
Just string it back to front so your octave pattern stays the same ! Mr Schmidt manages...
 12. Just sell it to an MP but make sure they are claiming it on "expenses" that way the deal is fireproof and no court in the land will question it.
 13.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AXL-Tiger-Pro-6-Stri...id=p3286.c0.m14 It seems that lowball bidders (of which I am one) are not an endangered species!!!!
Certainly not at the moment. I think the festive season has come early for lowball bidders, the secondhand market seems to be suffering at the moment. Looks a decent 6 string starter bass and will probably sell for just over £100 maybe...?
 14. Super Collider "Head On" sounds amazing but watch your speakers, serious earth moving bass.
 15.
this http://www.lfletcher.co.uk/sculpture/tree.htm my degree show. you turned the handle and the wee radio came to life. anyway. the wires had to link up to the satellite dish didn't they? amazingly not the most stupid thing i did in my degree
you students eh ? what are you like......
 16.
lol i was once up a ladder dragging a soldering iron and extention lead up to work on something high up in a rush. if you drop the thing- dont try and catch it! EDIT: oh and it look super bling!
What on earth were you soldering up a ladder ? or is it a new "extreme" sport.....?
 17.
Fair enough. Future tip to bear in mind: Soldering iron = hot!! I've disregarded this useful nugget of information before while being a bit careless about where i put my hands in relation to a heated up soldering iron before
I have been an electrical engineer all my life and have been using soldering irons for about 37 years but still manage to burn either myself or something in close proximity every time I switch one on.....
Future Tip
good pun there .......
 18.
Better to spend your spare cash collecting basses than pouring it down your throat or blowing it down the bookies, I reckon. You can't take the money with you when you go.
I take it you will be buried with your collection ? Better to give to a charity or the needy ? I would gratefully accept any donations....
 19.
If you weren't already aware, here's the Birdsong Bass Club thread on TalkBass.
cheers I came across this guy Bass Collection Is it just me or is there something perverse about owning so many basses ? I used to "collect" things especially when I was doing some antique trading but the only things I seem to collect now are books and every now and then have a clear out to the charity book shop in town. I think this extract sort of sums it up....
For some people collecting is simply the quest, in some cases a life-long pursuit that is never complete. Additional collector motivations include psychological security, filling a void in a sense of self. Or it could be to claim a means to distinction, much as uniforms make the “man.” Collections could be a means to immortality or fame vis-a-vis Dr. Louis Leakey.
20. Nice piece of wood.... I can't understand why people need 5 strings let alone 9 ? Think we should call a nine a 2.25....( 4 x 2.25 = 9) sounds better.. What you got ? Mines a 2.25....... what do you reckon ? I own several 1's ........
 21.
That looks rather nice, i was thinking black plate, but gold looks pretty good
Not too sure myself and I think it a bit too bling....but I'll reserve judgment until its finished.
 22. Hello Greg and welcome to the madness..... where do you play in the North West ? do you get anywhere near sunny Chorley ?
 23.
Is it done?
Well almost ! And all I will say is never again will I use mirrored perspex as a scratch-plate Second attempt and I still managed to put a tiny chip in it (hardly noticeable) Its wired , shielded, the plate is on , the finish is finished. Just the tuners and bridge and then we'll see what it sounds like. This has taken 4 times longer than I thought it would so its a one off and I will not be attempting it again. I have missed my target weight of 6lb but its hardly heavy at 6lb 8oz...its quite compact as well. Final Installment tomorrow. 24.
Not sure exactly what you mean, but you can have an active tone control with passive pickups, or active pickups with a passive tone control.
+1 on that. there are no passive pickups that can be made active, they must be produced as active pickups. I prefer a passive pickup / active tone (with bypass) set up.
 25.
On a more serious note, my offering is my 2006 MIM Precision. A nice bass, nothing flashy, but seriously better to play than the 2008 American Standard I had recently. Go figure.
As event organiser and Judge I must ask you to withdraw your entry "oh er mrs" Tis much too nice and shiny to be considered....
