  1. I use an NTX5 - I have looked at all of the other options but the NXT ideal if you are using both EUB and Guitar. 1. Its small and light in a way that most EUBs aren't 2. Its a fair approximation unless you are a serious player in which case you aren't going to get one for 1K anyway 3. It stands up when you are not playing it so no falling over pr propping up on stage 4. it looks cool 5. People like Niel Fairclough use them - ok with me.
  2. Available to Bc'ers here only £1200. This 34 year old bass is in 9/10 condition and has lovely neck, really fast. I have owned it since new. This is a good one, workmanship is perfect and a lovely instrument. in Bass Direct at the moment.
  3. Had a fretless one in the day......... still miss it!
  4. 62 Jazz Oly White.......
  5. Damn right, soo..... few people pay attention to the fact he used a P to great effect, Everyone is fixated in the Ray. Then of course there was the BC Rich which was in single P format also unless I am mistaken.
  6. At Last! Someone gets the idea!
  7. This occurred to me today The one thing most of we addicted to bass types would like would be to take our favourite bass with us. It read that today the cost of a funeral was about 4K -much of the cost of a pre cbs Fender - give or take. It seems only reasonable to take care of our families and cover our funeral costs with an inflation proof investment. I am currently enjoying my funeral - a nice 65p - I shall enjoy it until I have no need of it and then having given me a lifetime of pleasure she will lay me to rest and buy my loved ones a beer or two. Now tell me its not worth the money :-)
  8. That is soooo nice
  9. How about a Laurus T800 maple top 6er in PX + Cash
  10. Unlined yes, side markers yes......practise lots :-)
  11. Bump to anyone looking for a superbly built and sounding V. Der Gier are amongst the best modern builders anywhere in my view. This is a stupid price for a really good instrument.
  12. I can give a hearty thumbs up for the new models. Just got a new Pentabuzz with the Bart soap bars in Feb. Seriously the best fretless I have ever played. Where were you in February!!
  13. I don't actually want to play Gospel............not that I have anything against. But its a range of tones that seem to be dominated by certain brands . I guess I am asking for views from player who use those brands what they favour and why. Why a Smith Rather than an MTD or a Yam....and so on. I note that the younger pro's seem to head towards Yamaha which has surprised me and perhaps I have never paid enough attention there.
  14. Ok thanks guys, maybe my piano analogy was a bit off there. Is just that frankly the only one of the tree I have ever played is one MTD t Bass Direct. They were clear that whilst MTD was good, the tone varied a lot. Play before you buy don't order! Smith has always appealed but never tried one.
  15. OK I'm in the market for something a bit Gospel, bright, lots of piano tones. What would you go for? Yamaha, MTD or Smith? any others???
  16. Only one user? anyone else? anyone gigged one? does it get n the way, too much real estate on stage us pedal board?
  17. Sorry sounds to me like you need to change your diet, get fit and get some energy. You can then get a life. Jeez man you are the same age as me. I have diverticular disease, high blood pressure, and minor heart issues. Sounds like you are ready for six bits of wood . Fight back man!
  18. Guys I'd like some feedback from users of the Eich bass board. What are your views? how useable it really in a gig?
  19. Sorry but this thing of loveliness seems destined to stay with me I think so I have decided to keep her.
  20. Well on a black bass it had to be black LED's! Little black lights that light up black on a black background................mmmm very Disaster Area.....
  21. I find the question a bit odd. Its like saying for those of you who choose double bass or synth bass over fretted. They are just different. different dynamics, different mood, tone, attack. I play fretted, fretless and eub. I'm always surprised when I play fretless people say ooh isn't that really hard without the lines? but when I play upright they don't.
  22. Thought I would update this having has the F112 for a while. I matched it with a Warwick LWA1000. I wasn't expecting the sound to be as neutral as it was and to be honest at first I didn't like it. However as I got the hang of it and began to drive the 'colour' from my various basses I have really come to appreciate the difference you get from just plugging in a different instrument. Sounds obvious really but to some extent I have been used to plugging in basses and trying to make them sound different. With this you don't have to, not one bit. Put a P bass in and you get P bass, and EUB it sounds like and EUB. You get the idea. The rig is small , flexible and very loud but I prefer to use mine at lower levels and going out through the front of house. The cab is properly full range and responds across the whole spectrum. I did say it didn't have as much bottom as my AER AMP Three, that remains true. The AER is a sealed cabinet and almost unique for a small combo for thunderous bottom end. However, the F112 rig gets much bigger and loader and doesn't colour the sound. The build of the cab is clean, sturdy and the drivers are of the highest quality. I love the wedge shape. I am very happy with the rig and its a keeper.
  23. Bump.....still available at £1200 from me
