1. TC Polytune on the floor , snark on the head
2. I have a Carl Martin that is very nice........slightly noisy but a lovely thick sound
3. My Precious.......not as good as Rick's but not many are. Seen here with her ash trays and mutes off. August 60.
4. Don't forget you can hire a bass or borrow one, or even get a bas player in
5. Paul Turner has one of these baby's and If had the cash I'd have this one off you pdq. Superb instruments. People forget that there is a huge history of Luthiery in Czech Republic and Ales is making basses well into the league of AC.
6. TPJ, Graham.... Like I said I have only just got the rig so its too early to make popper comparison. The one I did make was with my AER amp 3 which has a truly massive low end but made fo a smaller environment. This was different, I was in a much larger venue and the sound was big and loud. The cab is not run in yet and so until it is its not a fair test. As for the amp on the wedge, nice rubber feet on the amp hung over the edge. I did put my AER behind it because I was on the back of a riser and was worried it might fall off. No worries stayed put the whole night.
7. OK, this was the Rig Friday Night.............. Amp: Warwick LWA 1000 The twin channels on the Warwick - invaluable - for me - changeover momentary Volume way more than I will need- 100% clean - no overdrive here Tone very, very transparent - Plug anything in - that's what you get out Character is not something this amp screams at you, it is just really clean, efficient and quiet Tone shaping is a little 'clinical' - absolutely functional completely colourless Compressor is very effective and you don't loose any tone or definition The DI is spot on Build quality seems flawless, solid, well constructed Cab: Tricky Audio Greenboy F112 Wedge style very useful! Build quality very good except for grille. Tricky sending me a new one no arguments Sound very transparent and full but not as deep as my AER amp 3 The cab is very new so I want to let it loosen up a bit first before I give an opinion The full range was really notable when using effects - I had to back some down Overall. A really good option for me as a more powerful compact rig but I have been used to more 'colour' from my other rigs so it will take a while for me to get a real handle on it much like my AER but once I do, I can't see anything doing much better in a compact format.
8. I've recently started using one on my board. I really like it simple effective tone enhancer
9. h Kiwi I think you are being a bit hard here.............. The MP11 I owned for example - great idea to have a MIDI programmable eq (at a time when bassists were still into gimmicks) but sorely limited by just having a single in and a single out and no effects loop. It was like the guy who came up with the idea and the guy who developed and delivered it didn't talk to each other. It should have been a master tone and switching control unit. It should have been a swiss army knife like the Eden WT100 preamp or the SWR Grand Prix - switchable stereo series effects loop, stereo - or biamp outs with crossover and parallel effects loop with blend. I know the guy who designed the MP11 programmable graphic and I watched him doing the design work when I was about 19ish - I'm now 52.................. Eden and SWR were not even a twinkle in the milkman's eye at that time. Given when this was done I think it deserves more credit than that and its not the fairest of comparison.
10. The word is compromise. If you take the example of the Hi fi world, if price is no object, what do you buy. A 200W Arcam perhaps at nearly £4,000. And inside surely Class D?.....no. Bloody great torroidal transformers and caps like Heinz bean cans. Heavy, hell yeah. Why because nothing beats a sodding great power supply for great bass and transients.
11. I chose this amp for the Class A twin I/P and I like the design of the Pascal module. It is simply a better module in my humble opinion. As to whether the product is better - I'll let you know.
12. Update. My F112 arrives Sunday. I have decided it somewhat unfashionably to pair it with a Warwick LWA1000. I decided on the Warwick because firstly it provides the power secondly its not 'ice' equipped and has an honest RMS output, thirdly twin channels as I play EUB and bass G, finally I always liked Warwick amps. I will report.
13. And so she stays with me :-)
14. I am seriously considering a Warwick LWA 1000. I like the twin channels...........what u recon? Better options?
15. OK here's my bit. I stopped playing for a decade. Been back for 2 years ish after a hard 20. 5th rehearsal after staring a new band. It took 3 months to get the line up. Now three months later bitching, moaning , and the whole sh*t train. This is the reality of a band. It's hard work and its not for everyone. I know many a musician who just doesn't want to be in a band for that reason.
16. I have n 87 NT6. It is without a doubt one of the most distinctive and well made basses I have ever played and you will have pry it from my cold dead fingers if you want it. The low be is so throaty and deep is almost digital. I has a better low B than my Fodera, and in fact any Wal or so far anything else. Its a bit mid toppy. It barks, growls and rings. It does not do round or smooth but it is oddly jazzy, A hand made bass like mine will cost you just £1500. It does weigh a tonne but you want that hewn from a tree like rock tone, well , its like rock - its heavy.
17. Last bump. Open to Offers.
18. Back UP BUMP and Price Drop
19. Been reading more about the Warwick LWA1000 as an option. Its interesting that they did not go for the Ice lass D and have gone for a pascal class D. http://www.pascal-audio.com/amplifier-modules.html Very good specs.
20. I honestly can't believe nobody has bought this............
21. Oh god another one.........
22. The only two words I can muster are explosive and diarrhoea
