I'd recommend a used Warwick from one of the guys selling on here. At the lower end of the price range you get so much more for your money with a used W, they are very robust and you won;t loose any money if it doesn't work out , just sell it on. Do that with a £500 Ibanez and you can kiss goodbye to half your money straight away if its wrong for you.

I was lucky enough to acquire a 67 Ampeg B15n recently. I got it to go with my vintage Fenders but I decided to try it with my Rob Allen MB2 5. Oh my holy trousers! Together they just sang. A perfect combination of he RB tone and vintage Ampeg thump. The feel and tone was so acoustic made even my playing sound good! Who would have known almost 50 years apart and made for each other. Any other cool combinations out thee you have found?
