Sorry - No trade unless its a Fretless stingray PEB all original
  3. OK Here it is my 1982 Fender Jazz. Last of the USA Fullerton Jazz Basses I bought this guitar 33 yeas go wen I was 17. I have looked after it very well. There are no chips, the most minor of dings so small I can't photograph them. It really is mint except for the fine witness marks in the finish. It sat in its case unopened from 1995 until 2007. The neck is maple, straight as a die, frets are excellent The bass is completely original with three minor changes from new: 1. the bridge was replaced in 1986 with a Shaller (badass style) original bridge kept and included 2. Brass nut 3. A crack in the scratch plate ( now yellowing along with the knobs) was dealt with by replacing the tail with a Fender chrome part in about 1992 This bass is incredibly clean 9.5+ out of 10. Paint finish is so polished I can't take a pic without you seeing my ugly mug I the reflection. It comes with a Fender shaped case circa 1992 as the original fell to bits. I have it if you want it. Serial no: E300858 Sorry having serious 2nd thoughts - this is a monster fast kick ass bass and I need to think more carefully before I sell. Sorry.
  4. Concluded a transaction with Si for a 66 JB. Fine fellow and 100% trustworthy for sourcing over the pond.
  5. Just bought a bass from Binman. Excellent chap, great communication bass better tan advertised Packing and shipping excellent and timely. Buy with confidence!
  6. I suggest if the cab wasn't delivering for you then you should replace the damaged cone with one original and sell. Then get a better suited cab. Cab designs are very complex especially dual cone ported varieties. If you replace one of both cones with anything other than a driver the original design parameters either you will kill the remaining cone or it will sounds crap or both. Retuning the cab would require modeling from Theile Small parameters of the drivers. If they are matched it really hard, if they are different, it gets propper complicated, if one driver is old and its perfromance has drifted form the design parameters due to changes in its physical elasticity and hence frequency responce change...............well you get the drift. Fix it properly with a matching cone , sell at a fair price and get the one you need.

  8. Oh and Jennie, Please do not lick your guitar like that (Profile Photo) there are aging men on this forum who might spill their Earl Grey tea on their slippers. At our advanced ages that can really ruin your Mojo before a gig. Also unless you use flatwounds thats gonna hurt if you keep doing it.
  9. The best place is Denmark Street in London, the importer in UK is Westside 24 Denmark St, London WC2H 8NJ 0207 8368374. Give them a ring! They are B expensive tho. you can check on the Thomann website for comparable prices. I went to my local music shop and asked them to order it for me from Westside. They were hungrier for the deal than Westside would have been as the importer so I got a good deal :-)
  10. I went up to Denmark Street a month or so ago and had the chance to try, one, two and three. I' not a tech freak so this is just the gut response as player. The original question in my mind the time was should I buy used bass cube II? I compared the face value usability of the Cube and in very case amps one, two and three spanked it for me. The sheer power and depth each one had over the albeit very sophisticated Cube made the decision easier - amps1-3 Bass Guitar - Bass Cube Double Bass. So I then compared amps 1-3. I had fixed cube gas. One was amazing, tiny, impossibly clear and loud, you just sit and scratch our head - WTF was my only thought. The tone was pretty much all there but I felt as if AER had tried to make the smallest possible serious combo and succeeded! BUT Then looked at something to compete with the Mesa combos- the Two does that. It felt more like a 'real' useable gigging combo. Loud, bright (perhaps to bright) and punchy as hell. for me the One just didn't answer all the questions, the two answered all of them but it is bigger, heavier and if I wanted - a compact combo to sling on the passenger seat? Two was not it. So Thee .............. 2x 8" a little bigger than One but still tiny. Take all the other small combo's in the world and build a big bonfire........... Three is awesome. The bottom end is mind bending and can only be heard to be believed. It is punchier than One, it is warmer than One or Two and GDAM that low end. This is the tiny combo you can trust with your low B, or with the warmth of a vintage P bass in my view. Mine is on order for Xmas, you gotta try it.
  11. This P looks very nice at £1200 [url="http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Fender-P-Bass-Precision-USA-1977-78-Serial-S871003-Owned-since-1980/321567226785?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D25402%26meid%3Dd4c621915d5e4ed49be453110480f62d%26pid%3D100009%26prg%3D10670%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D301374636649"]http://www.ebay.co.u...%3D301374636649[/url]

    Sold

Have a bump on me, I own an early sixer myself albeit unaltered. Not everyone's cup of tea mine's a beast and I bloody love it. Snap it up guys.
  14. I had a '96 BO 5 Thumb for many years and that was really nice, crisp and easy to play, not too heavy Ovangkol body. It was distinctly thumb but not too 'barky' if you now what I mean. I then bought an early throughneck 6 thumb which weighs about as much as a bus but the tone is amazing, unique early Warwick on Bartolini pups, thunderous clear bottom end growling mids and bell like highs. If you like 'that sound' then go for it whilst old Waricks are 'relatively cheap' You can get an 80's thumb for under a grand BO for under £700 if you look. All I can say I got my Thumb for a fraction of a new one, for a fraction of what it cost when it was new and that won't last forever. So if you are tempted do it now and see how you get on. Thumbs ALWAYS sell son ot much to loose.
  15. Still looking for a buyer for this great rig.

  20. I make you 100% right. Great post.
  21. This year I bought an 86 Warwick thumb 6. It was a very early number and immaculate. It weighs a tonne but it plays like an angel. I paid a fraction of what it cost when it was new and a fraction of what a new one would cost today. It is an inspiring bass. I didn't buy it because it was old but because it was good. I would be VERY surprised if in 20 years these early Warwicks were no considered as sought after as old Ricks or Fenders are now.Its invest I an old Warwick time methinks.
  22. The thing for me about vintage basses is to remember that when you by a 60's instrument you are within spitting distance of the very beginnings of modern music. The music of our generation was truly born out of the efforts of a tiny handful of inovators like Leo Fender (for one) who made something almost completely new. For me the Fender P & J basses are at the heart of that. Some people feel that way about Gibson or RIcks. These designs hit the nail on the head so firmly that their design remains almost unchanged. I guess being born in the early 60's I grew up with these instruments at the heart of my earliest musical memories. I'm lucky enough to have a vintage P and soon (all being well) a J. When you pick up a 50 year old instrument that has been crafted well, looked after for all its life and pick it up to play you feel something. Crank that old P up with the tone rolled off just a bit and it growls punk tones at you, play it further up the neck and even with the tone rolled all the way back you still get distinct clear warm notes. You will pay a lot of cash to get that in a new instrument, and all it will be is a facsimilie of the 'real thing'. I own old basses becuase they sound wonderful, they have lasted the journey, they will remain precious. They are the heritage of every line of this and every other bass blog. Its an honour to keep and look after one, even if though its taken most of my life before I could aford one.
  23. bum..............p
