  1. I only ever saw The Beach Boys (1976, Wembley Stadium) but would love to have seen Brian with his later band. Imho, their vocal harmonies were every bit as good as (at times, even better than) the Beach Boys themselves.
  2. Yes... I must, I must...! Seriously, though, yes black pearl would be a definite alternative. Mind you, I also spotted a mint green pearl on ebay; now that's tempting, too.
  3. Definitely another option. 👍 Hmmm, I think I may be in danger of ending up with a selection of alternate scratchplates for the Ray4. Still, it might feel like I have a new bass every so often and could help to alleviate any further GAS (...or not! )
  4. As a Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fan myself, I'd certainly recommend this. But also as a songwriter, it gives a good insight into a very talented but sadly messed-up musician and composer. Plus, I'll also add "God Only Knows" as another one of the greatest songs ever written!
  5. Thanks for the tweak, @Ricky Rioli. Yeah, I realized the lower half of my pics were maybe a tad darker (in shadow) but tbh I couldn't be bothered to re-shoot. The aim was to just show the basic differences between the pg's.
  6. I have a Jazz bass (Aquamarine colour) that originally had a white plate but I swapped it out for a white pearl. That said, I also have a black Tokai Jazz which had a white plate that I removed but left the bass 'naked'. (see my signature pic below, both on the far right).
  7. I thought Jimmy's own solo version of Wichita Lineman on the piano was a really nice rendition of the song with some nice alternate chords (to the original Glen Campbell version).
  8. Wichita Lineman. One of the greatest songs ever written. Ever! (There... I said it!).
  9. The White Knight - Jay Huguely (aka Cledus Maggard & The Citizens Band)
  10. Fair point, although I guess you could say the same about a Jazz bass. (e.g., Jaco style )
  11. A Picture of You - Joe Brown & The Bruvvers
  12. That looks ace! Good luck with the search.
  13. Up Where We Belong - Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes
  14. Hey, yeah, an engraved metal guard could work - even if it does add a pound or two to the weight of the bass! Hmmm, that said, I could fancy a mirror guard.
