  1. My SR5 is also an early one (1989) which I've had for over 25 years. I can't say I've ever had a problem with the neck radius and, as others have said, I would say the depth of the neck is pretty shallow (though not overly so). It's certainly not uncomfortable (at least not for me). Yes, the G string runs a little close to the edge but I can't say it's ever been a problem for me. As @snorkie635 has said, you could try wearing the bass a tad higher. Or maybe raise the angle of the neck a little? As it happens, I also have the HB SR5 copy (newer type), bought used from Ebay, it's had a couple of mods. The neck is slightly chunkier but not really a problem. But of course, it's all very much personal preference. I hope you're at least able to find an MM SR5 at some point and give it a try.
  2. This was one of my dream basses back then, it still oozes quality. (I still have the Ibanez catalogues somewhere). I remember Soundwave, too, which later became Monkey Business. GLWTS.
  3. Congrats and well done on what looks like a beaut of a bass. Hope the bass you're after comes your way, but I wouldn't blame you if you did decide to keep this one. GLWTS 🙂
  4. Super Basschatter Davie is a top man to deal with. Good communication with absolutely no problems and the bass I purchased (a Tune TWB-4Z) was extremely well packed. Two thumbs up 👍😊👍
  5. 1989 EBMM Stingray5. I've owned this since 1998 when it immediately became, and still is, my main go to bass.
  6. Wow, yeah, I'm kinda surprised to see this on offer. I can certainly testify to the quality of this SR5 (as if anyone needed convincing! 😉). Best of luck with the sale.
  7. That's a lovely bass and would sit very nicely with my TWB-6. Sadly, it's pretty much out of my reach. Actually, my band (Landmarq) were brought in as John's band for a brief time, playing gigs in Holland and Germany at the end of his Chasing The Dragon tour (mid 90s), although he was using Fernandes at that time. I hadn't realized he had a TWB series and was just wondering if you know roughly when that may have been? GLWTS btw 😊
  8. I was thinking the exact same thing. Not sure you'll need it, but GLWTS 😊
  9. It's been a while since I posted here so thought I'd pop this pic of me 'n' my '89 Ray5 at a recent festival gig. Bought in '97, it's been my main go-to bass ever since. All original apart from the white pearl plate. Yeah, it's weightier than a modern Ray -- about 10.5 lbs -- but it's not really a problem. Ask me again when I'm the other side of 70! 👍🤠👍
  10. Oh my! 💖💖💖💖💖💖
  11. What can I say, except 💖💖💖💖💖💖
  12. For me, these are one of the most beautiful bass designs on the planet. Especially with the headstock. (Personally, I'd love a Flamboyant 6'er, too 😵😊). GLWTS!
  13. That's a beauty! I seriously don't expect to see it on here for very long. GLWTS. 👍
  14. Hi, I got the plate from Amazon. I posted details and a link (it's only a couple of posts above your one) but here's the link again: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B019IDNW90/
  15. Whoa! Hope it's not too long before things are back to normal. And if I may just add... Good luck with the nail!
  16. Another ex-EB2d owner here, I bought mine from Sound City (in Shaftesbury Avenue) back around the early to mid-70s. I brought it back to the store a while later to have it completely refinished in blonde with black binding. Their luthier Sam Li did the work. As much as I was pleased with the result I did move it on a short time after to fund another bass. I don't have the serial number but I often wondered what happened to that bass...? The bass for sale here looks every bit as nice as I remember mine when I bought it. GLWTS. 👍
  17. Just wow!! Glwts. 👍😎👍
  18. Ah, the wonder of Basschat! I make that 6 hours from when @vmaxblues posted the ad to when @Chris Stitt pulled the trigger. Congrats to both. 👍😎👍 (yep, I realize other sales may have completed quicker 😊)
  19. Oh boy, that looks a lovely example and in a colour to die for! Glwts. 👍😎👍
  20. Well, I'll take that as an upside to my not being able to make it either. 😉 Wishing you all a speedy recovery. 👍🤞
  21. Hubba-flippin'-hubba!! 👍😎👍
  22. No worries, Chris. I'll check back with Colin. Yes indeed, another good bash judging by the pics
  23. Many thanks to those folks who have posted pics and video so far. Only thing is, I'm feeling even more gutted that I couldn't make it to the bash. (No car - see my earlier post). Some excellent gear as usual and as someone who is still using old school Trace Elliot, I think @Merton's new TE head is something I will be checking out - once I get my eyes back in their sockets! Roll on next year! @Hamster & @ped, I did send you a PM t'other day but not sure if you may have spotted it yet. I appreciate you've been busy ).
