45 minute set: The Prog outfit - 5 songs (if we're careful) The Jazz outfit - 7 or 8 songs (if we don't waffle) The covers outfit - 10 to 12 songs (if we end on time! )

Thanks for the clarification. I suppose it makes sense, although given the fact that the total number of posts in Off Topic (approaching 800,000) far outweighs most other forums on Basschat, it obviously shows where most of the chat takes place. No worries, to be fair I wanted as much to check if there may have been any issues which then got me wondering what my actual total count should be.

The number count of posts showing in my icon area when I submit a post doesn't appear to be updating. Earlier this week it was at 1,191 and though I've since posted around 15 more over the last few days it still seems to be showing 1,191. Most of my latest posts have been in the "Word association..." and "Photo Uno..." threads so posts here have been a single word and a single photo, respectively. Would these minimal posts still be counted? That said, I've also posted in the East Anglia Bass Bash thread but still no update afaik. Just wondering if anyone else may have noticed this? Apologies if this has already been addressed (I couldn't turm up anything in a search). Thanks, Steve P.S. - ha, just gone up 1 count to 1,192 after posting this!

Ah, if you're going for Sat 19th Oct, I'm afraid I'm already down for the SEBB and can't really stretch to two bashes over the same weekend.
-
....or the South East Bass Bash (Sun 20th Oct). Not too close in location but may be a similar distance for those based in Nth London, Essex, Herts. Just sayin'

Always good to see more Prog bands here. Good song, too, well recorded. Best of luck for the future.

Much kudos to Lisa-Marie and Mark for this raw, no frills performance. Vocals and piano both excellent. Wishing you every success with the band, too.

+1 to all of those, Nik, and I'll just throw in a couple more faves that I never tire of hearing: "Running Up That Hill" and "Cloudbusting" (accompanied by the amazing video/mini-movie featuring Donald Sutherland).

Ok, so we've established (quite rightly) that both KB and JM are both musical geniuses (genii?). To the less-enlightened out there - tough! But are there any other, specifically female, artists who have a similar long-term tie with a super bassist? For example, another favourite of mine for many, many years has been Bonnie Raitt who in her earlier period had Freebo on bass until he was ousted in the early 80's. Maybe not in the same mould as Jaco or even Giblin, but a very solid and complementary player, all the same. Any other female+bassist recommendations? [p.s. - I know we could also reverse this, such as Tal W. and Rhonda S. with Jeff Beck, but I'm currently more interested in the female plus (male or female) bassist pairings]

Yep, I envy you that, Nik. I wasn't able to make the 2016 show, more's the pity. The words "eye" and "teeth" come to mind! But from your description it sounds every bit as good as I would have expected.

I will say that Joni is and always has been my absolute 'number one' female artist/singer/songwriter... ever. But I've also said that (imho), in terms of originality, production and character, Kate runs an extremely close second and, for me, is one of the very best female singer-songwriters to emerge from the UK. But that's just me.

Well done, guys, I just listened to Episode 3. Nice interview with Jack Roan / Noble Amps with some great insights as to how this one-man-band functions. Also enjoyed the Marketplace sneak-peeks. Will that be a regular feature now?
-
Sad to learn of this. Although I can't say I knew Colin very well, like a few others here, just from the SEBB. RIP mate.

Something else I picked up many years ago though not from the store itself.

In the 80's when they first opened, The Bass Centre was my 'local' (or near as dammit) so I used to pop in there on and off. But not too regular -- I couldn't afford it!! Personally I have fond memories of the place and most of the guys were usually pretty decent and friendly. I bought a few bits over the years and still have some receipts (pictured) but the best thing I snagged was my Tune TWB-6 back in 1997 (can't find the receipt for that, though! 😕 ). Always had good service and setups from techie Chris Ward.
