  1. Happy Birthday to my fretless 'Ray, born this day 21st Nov 2001.
Old enough to marry, old enough to drive a car, but not quite old enough to vote! :D

  2. Not sure if Tiger Tours (Wembley) or Matt Snowball (London N7) might suit you. I've used both previously, albeit a few years ago, and had no complaints.
  3. I'm still gutted that I had to miss the recent SEBB but I have to say, for sheer value and personal enjoyment, I would rather attend a bass bash than that there LBGS!
  4. Must make next year....must make next year....must make next year....must make next year....
  5. I very much enjoyed the first three episodes and was looking forward to the fourth and final show but must admit I felt a little let down by it, not just because of the "top 20 drummers" list -- always a bit of a waste of time as these things can never be definitive (imho) -- but also because it just seemed like the programme makers had perhaps run out of steam and put together a compilation of clips from the previous three episodes along with the aforementioned top 20 list. That said, I was pleased to see Tom Lang and his crazy 6-pedal kit, also Craig Blundell included in the series, one of the few representatives of the "7/8-9/8-13/8 Club" -- otherwise known as Prog Rock!
  6. Yes, so many more drummers I'm sure we could all mention that didn't get featured in the programme. I've been hugely impressed having seen, among others, Manu Katche, Vinnie Colaiuta, Abe Laboriel Jnr, Ricky Lawson and one of my all-time favourites, Richie Hayward (RIP) from Little Feat. One other drummer I must mention ('cos I did some recording and live work with him a couple of years ago) who also has some serious moves, is Mark Brzezicki (Big Country, Procol Harum).
  7. I finally was able to take time and check out BC podcast #2 (...thanks @ped for the slight nudge! ). Really enjoyed Bo's chat with @TrevorR about his love and history of Wal basses. Not made it to a Wal myself (at least not yet) although I did have one of the then new Hayman 4040's back in the day, as discussed during the chat. Also enjoyed Bo and Si's chat regarding performance, gigging, etc. Having just played a Prog fest in south Wales (roundtrip from Essex 350-odd miles returning the same day) I completely sympathise with Si's 800-miles-plus roundtrip gig north o' the border! So, all in all, another great job with the podcast, chaps. I have to say, at just over an hour, it was a little easier for me to make it through in one hit. Looking forward to Episode 3.
  8. I'm listening to Trevor and Bo's chat right now. 👍 😎 👍
  9. Just catching up having returned from the gig that put the kibosh on my attending the bash. Looks like it was another successful bash (I would expect nothing less! ). I really missed this! Ah well, roll on next year!
  10. Not unless you want to move your gig to the early morning! 😎
  11. Seriously gutted, it looks like I won't be able to make it to the bash as I've now been told we need to be set up earlier for my gig than originally informed. (It's a hotel/private function do). Bah, humbug!!! 😞 Have a great day, all. Hopefully see you at the next one.
  12. The Corduroy tune "How To Steal The World" definitely seems inspired by the theme to "The Streets of San Francisco" (which I believe may have had Carol Kaye on bass).
  13. Thanks for this, Gary. I confess I wasn't really too familiar with Corduroy but have checked out at least half-a-dozen of their vids on Youtube and you're right when you say "...think funky 70's instrumental theme tunes...". Great stuff! I look forward to seeing/meeting Richard on the day.
  14. 1) Cetera - Spector NS2 & Legend 4X, Dingwall NG2, Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird, Yamaha BB3000, GK800RB head, Genz Benz Neox212 cab, Tech-21 Dug DP3X preamp/pedal 2) Ezbass - Maruszczyk Elwood L 4 string fretted (J pickups), Maruszczyk Elwood L 4 string fretless (MM pickup), Rickenbacker 4003s, Rob Allen MB2 fretless, Phil Jones Flightcase + PB300 3) Happy Jack - AliKat DB #004, Mike Lull 54P, all I need to play a doubling gig (that evening) on those two instruments 4) BlueJay - Eminence Upright (left-handed), loads of camera equipment 5) obbm - TBA 6) Nancy Johnson (Paul) - The Big One, rack (GED/poweramp), possibly the dUg DP3x. A bass. 7) MacDaddy - Shuker bass(es), Snapdragon Folding bass, Flattley Bass Poison Ivy. 8. prowla (Paul) - Maybe a Ric or two and fakers, maybe a couple of Statii, maybe J- & P-basses. Probably a Markbass amp & cab and a pedalboard with some FX. 9. Old faithful Stingray5; Tune SWV4-BB bass; Eden EC180 1x15 combo. (I also have a gig that evening so may leave the Eden in the car but happy to bring it in if anyone asks).
  15. Sounds good to me, too. This one will run and run. Looking forward to #2.
  16. I bought my Trace Elliot combo (GP12SMX, 300w, 1x15") brand new from the old Flying Pig store in west London back in 1998. I fitted Ernie Ball removable castors and also bought a made-to-measure padded cover from RoqSolid (green piping, of course ). A couple of years later I found a used 2103x (2x10" + 2x5") extension cab. Nice! The full rig has served me very well over the years though for smaller gigs I was using a Series 6 BLX80 1x10" combo - (80watts?! Yeah, and the rest...!). However, I finally succumbed to selling the BLX80 a year or so back. Trouble was, matching that Trace sound and tone. I tried a couple of others including an SWR WorkingPro 12 combo. Nice, but grossly under-powered, in my view. I ended up with an Eden EC15 180w combo which I have to say kicks some serious backside and is 2/3 the weight of the BLX, so I'm happy with that. At the moment, the Trace rig is getting a lot less use (which is criminal, really!) so I keep thinking maybe I'll pop it into the BC marketplace and see what happens, but every time I set it up it sounds so glorious, I just can't bring myself to do it.... yet!
  17. Bernie was also a 'star attraction' at the 2010 London Bass Bash. Would be great to see him again.
  18. I use one of these. It's on wheels and has a pull-up grab-handle so easy enough to move around. If necessary, I can just take out the top half only which, to be fair, with a bit of re-organizing, I can get by with well enough. But I've rarely been at a gig and thought, rats - I shoulda brought such 'n' such....!
  19. Just letting you know this does work ok for me. I'm taken to the first unread post since my last visit which also has a red separator line above it. Maybe something in your account settings?
