1. Brilliant! Thanks Silvia, that would be most welcome. I'm sure Ms Murphy will very much appreciate it, too.
 2.
We were entirely spoilt by having a bespoke build stage and top notch sound crew so it wasn't too tough for us. It's a bloody tall ceiling though! If you get a chance see if you can get up to the balcony area that overlooks the hall when someone else is playing. The view of the hall with people in and music on is amazing. In fact, if it's open maybe get someone to take some pics of you playing from up there. They'll look great in the portfolio
I understand the set-up for the acts is at the top of the main stairway. I used to visit the NHM regularly at one time (along with the Science Museum, of course) so must admit the opportunity to play where once were dinosaurs was most tempting. Definitely a big room!
I sense a photo opportunity being thrown my way...
Haha, rumbled!!
 3.
Excellent. You have Paul on drums too, am I right? Jack and I will make sure to pop down and catch you guys
Yep, Paul is with us, too, though he'll mainly be playing Cajon (unless he can jump on someone else's kit ). Great if Jack can make it too. I should have contacted him though I only just received final confirmation and details myself.
I've played in that hall - acoustics are great fun We played for a Price Waterhouse summer ball and it really was an amazing setting! Hope you have a brilliant time.
Thanks Barry. I was wondering about the acoustics. I'm sure it'll be interesting, to say the least.
 4.
Thinking of coming! Which time slot are you scheduled in?
Nice one, Sylvia. Be good to meet you if you can make it along. Yeah, forgot to mention that we're sheduled for around 9pm - actually 9.20pm, I think.
 5. Ok, I'm not quite 65 million years old, not yet, but if any London-based BC'ers are around on Friday evening (28th June) and fancy a trip over to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, I'm playing a short (and I do mean short!) set with singer/songwriter Jeanette Murphy in the museum's Central Hall. It's for their monthly live music series "Lates with Mastercard". There are ten acts playing, each one does a 15 minute slot. Best of all, it's free admission. Be nice to meet and chat with any BC'ers - or come to that, anyone else that'll talk to me...!!! 6. Well-pee'd off that I couldn't make this after all. Hopefully, next time.
 7.
1980 Wal Custom. Still gigging after 33 years!!
While I would not get rid of my Stingray5 (see above) - your Wal, sir, gives me the horn!
 8.
If I could find one just like that, but that was under 8lb I would buy it instantly!
Having owned this bass for the last 15 years or so, I guess I've gotten used to the weight (as a 5-hour gig I played on New Years Eve will testify to! ) But, yes, she is a beauty to both look at and play.
 9. Born 5th Dec, 1989 - my Stingray5 is 23 years old today. Happy bassday, sweetie!
 10.
And by the way, we missed you, Nige, and Clarky, and Jack and all the others who couldn't make it, and we demand you all make sure you'll be at the next one

Yes, definitely. Me and Sylv are gonna gang up on you to make sure you're there next time
Absotively!!!
 11. Thanks to those who have posted pics from the bash. I was so gutted I couldn't be there, I was looking forward to meeting up with so many old and new bassmates. Just have to wait til next year...
 12.
That's very kind of you - and typical of the kindness and generosity of many at the bash today! I'll PM you my paypal account name. If you send it as a gift I'll add the cash to the overall profit. Colin
Done!
 13. Sorry to have missed this after all, but I don't think anyone would have appreciated it if they went away with a sore throat and cold. Anyway, it does sound like it was another good day and I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Colin and Nik - I'd still like to pay towards the cost and/or the charity fund. Let me know the best way to do this. Ta. Cheers, Steve
 14. I don't believe it!! I was hoping I wouldn't have to post this as I was really looking forward to the bash but I had a sore throat and had lost my voice last week and felt like sh*t, but was feeling better the last few days. Today has been worse and it's still not good. I'll see how I feel in the morning but what I don't want to do is risk passing anything on to other people. I'm not a happy bunny! Steve
 15. Recently I was also getting a 405 Error after posting a message. On clicking 'Post' I was shown the 405 error white page though found that my post had gone through ok anyway. Just to say I just had the same thing happen again (posting to the 'Show me some photos' thread)
 16.
'Tis a truth universally known that Sir Jacks P is Utterly Butterly, the leader of the Lur-Pack as it were.
Really?! I can't believe it's not............... oh never mind!!
 17. Innit marvellous! I'd have made the effort this year as I've not been to one of these in a while, but I have gigs over that same weekend. Ah well, there's still the South East Bass Bash...

 19. From one of the greatest Blues albums of all time.... Born Under A Bad Sign (feat. B B King) Springfield Soul Stew (funky-blues with nice bass intro - no credit but might be Bob Glaub who does play on a few other tracks)
 20.
For the benefit of those who haven't been before, the SE BassBash is held in a school. There's loads of free parking. The main foyer area is used for:

making your donation to the running costs of the event (a fiver each, as I recall),
provision of refreshments (Mrs. Hamster does a nice line in cakes & biscuits),
a "quiet room" where no one is allowed to slap (ever, at all, not a bit, banned, enforced with extreme prejudice),
a "sale room" where you can lay out anything you fancy offering,
a teaching space for workshops on various subjects,
a venue for the holding of the Raffle at the end of proceedings.
The school has a large hall, and a separate theatre. Usually the theatre is where people set up their kit if they have brought some. Typically, there will be over a dozen rigs and maybe 40 or 50 basses to play through them. Volume levels can get fairly high but are rarely outrageous. Except when people slap. The hall can be used for really loud demonstrations of specific rigs and basses. And slapping. At the end of a corridor, and away from the other three spaces, there's usually a jam room with a band's worth of gear and a real drummer with a real drumkit. There's no real volume restriction, and the space is there to be used for anything you fancy. Even slapping. Turn-out over the last few years has been maybe 50 or so Basschatters at each event, but the venue is way large enough to take double that number and then some, so there's no restriction at all on how many turn up. It's a face-to-face event that's every bit as friendly as Basschat itself. No surpise there then.
Yep - what he said...!
 21.
i've never been to one of these. Do you just turn up on the day and make donations or do you need to book? Not sure that i have anything worth bringing along but would like to come jeff

I would also love to know more. My intention would be to attend but mostly spectate. I've got a couple of items that could go in the raffle, and I could probably bring my NXT 5 if any other lefty is going to attend and would like to have a look at it.
I totally recommend it. It's a very friendly get-together and great to meet up with fellow bassists and play or just chat. I've got a gig in Stevenage for that same evening, but as the bass bash is a daytime thing, I'll probably go off to the gig from there. Just means I may not have as much stuff with me as previously. (Not that there won't be plenty of other goodies there! )
You know what - I will try and be there for this - I just fancy hanging out with some bass nerds... like me - I don't want to do any workshops but if anyone wants to talk technique, music or jounralism for that matter then I'd be very happy to - jazzy jamming is also good! Hope that sounds cool Mike
Sounds like a plan, Mike.
 22.
Very sadly, I won't be able to make this due to gig commitments I'd love to be there, and to anyone who's not been, and is a bit nervous about going for whatever reason, don't be. It's the friendliest musical gathering I've ever been to, great fun, GAS inducing, knowledge increasing, and you have total freedom to geek-watch or geek out Superbly organised too. Hope you all have a great one.

Reverse true for me (re fixture gods). Its Arsenal v Chelski and my boy is ultra-keen to go. So I'm afraid i won't be attending this BassBash. Wil have a dig around though and see if there's anything I can lob in to the charity raffle
Sorry to hear that, you guys. Hopefully the one after...
Noooo!! It won't be the same without you! Last time, you tempted me into the jam room like a frightened rabbit. I was so looking forward to showing you my increased repetoire! I can play at least 4 notes now, lol I would definitely second what you say about going along if even if you are a bit nervous or feeling awkward for any reason. Everyone there will be lovely
'Shell... happy to continue where we left off in the jam room, if you so wish...
 23. Yep, I saw the 'Cloud' message last night, too. Now there's a small puddle under my chair! Well done to the BC team for keeping the nasties at bay.
 24.
White bass thread? Great, yet another opportunity to post pics of my Custom Precision! Built by The Bass Doc.
Absolutely Gooor-geous!!!
