Overwater J5 Fretless - Trans black, Figured Maple on Mahogany It's a great bass and the best bit is my brother made that one when he worked for OW
Now that's what I call 'provenance'!

All look lovely, but the middle one in particular (sorry, not sure of the model) is an absolute beauty.
Your 4-string looks like an absolute corker too!
You know it, m8. Whereas my own SR5 has it's own share of mojo and has seen a lot of action, the fretless is pretty near mint.
I'm happy to slide down it for now... Speaking of which, you don't happen to fancy a fretless 5-string augmentation to your Ray collection, do you? I could do you a special local deal for local people.
I've been mulling this over and I'm sorely tempted myself, BE. (Even though I'm not local! ) I'm just considering selling my beloved 4-string fretless Ray to fund this. If there are any interested parties, I'll have mine with me at the South East Bass Bash.

For most of the reasons stated above I also am not in the habit of sharing gear though have done in the past on one or two occasions where I've known the other bands and the whole situation is trustworthy enough. To the OP - if you're committed and feel honour-bound to share your rig then, if possible, I'd advise you to keep an eye on it as much as you can throughout the gig. You don't need an over-enthusiastic bassist to decide mid-set to just whack everything on '10' (...hell, it's not their amp is it!?).
Just picked up for a song locally here in the US. Small and powerful, looking for an 1153 to put under it.
Whoa - a veteran of many battles, no doubt. I bet it still packs a punch!
Here's something a little unusual by 10cc. It's the single that came out after Rubber Bullets and it sank like the QE2 anchor (but not before I bought a copy). It's a rather brave, quirky composition clearly shows the art of a song in development. Thank God they stopped buffing the song when they did. This was a predecessor to some of the great melodic songs by 10cc, such as 'Life is a Minstrone', Art for Art's Sake', I'm Not in Love, I'm Mandy, Fly me' and a whole lot more I'm going to listen to after I've done this. Just thought - this one's a bit of a polar opposite to some of the current stuff running around. Enjoy the weekend everyone and if you're gigging, hope it's a good'n
I love that track. In fact, I loved the whole 'Sheet Music' album. I loved 'Original Soundtrack' and 'How Dare You!', too. In fact, I'm lovin' most things today! (Must be something in the water! )
Thought someone would have mentioned Pat Metheny by now. Recommend the whole of the first volume of the 'Works' compilation. Didn't care so much for the second vol but the first is great chillout stuff. This is on it for instance; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT4kKSi5eoU
Well, I coulda, woulda, shoulda - but knew he'd find his way here eventually. Thanks, Kev! Almost anything by Pat does me pretty much anytime. (Maybe apart from the album 'Song X' - ugh!) 'Last Train Home' is also nice to chill out to.

The one you wish you'd never EVER sold...
...what bass got away in some rash made impulsive idiotic decision?
"...rash impulsive idiotic decision..." is right! My Rickenbacker 4001s bought new in 1974, sold on in 1980. -
Surprised this hasn't appeared yet, so I'm going to sort that out now ...[Weather Report - A Remark You Made]
Nice one, Tom. I knew someone would get there, sooner or later. Also +1's to Joni Mitchell, Dave Grusin, Keith Jarrett, John Martyn, Tom Waits, Fleet Foxes, Elbow and many others posted so far. As a collection, it might make a pretty decent album for some eclectic late night listening. Four from Jeff Beck...
i'm ashamed to say i'm partial to a bit of john mayers more bluesy stuff as a bit of relaxation too.
Nowt wrong with a bit of John Mayer, mate.

Thanks, so far, guys. All good listening there. Have to admit Boards of Canada are new to me, but it certainly does the job! Cheers and keep 'em coming.

I have a whole bunch of stuff I like to listen to for late night listening or just to lay back and chill out to. We're not talking Death Metal here, peeps! I'd love to know what other BC'ers might recommend. Any style, any genre. I've previously posted this elsewhere on BC, but thought I'd kick things off here with it...

Apart from my last couple of function/covers bands, I've never been in a band where I did not have a major hand in writing the material - be it a song that was 100% mine (words, music, arrangement, etc) or a collaborative effort with one or more other members of the band. The bands have been Pop/Rock, Country, Prog Rock and a sort of Jazzy-Fusiony-sortathing and I've enjoyed writing songs for all of them. I write mainly on guitar, plus occasionally on keyboards and, yes, even bass!

There, ya see? All that fretting for nothing! No, not THAT fretting - the other kind of fretting! Seriously though, for all the hiccups, you enjoyed it enough to be looking toward the next one... so well done, you!
Wayne would love this bass http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-bass-uni...85#ht_500wt_898
Yikes! It should come with a free pair of sunglasses...

That's nice! I wasn't sure at first, but I'm fast getting used to the look of the HH Rays.

Hank Crawford... - Sugar Free (lovely driving rhythm section of Gary King and Steve Gadd) - Sho Is Funky (Gary King again with Idris Muhammad) - It's A Funky Thing To Do (Chuck Rainey/Bernard Purdie rhythm sec.) p.s. - nice to see the Google Ads working, Pete!
-
Re-working (though 20 years old now) by Aretha of her own song 'Think'. Not necessarily better than the original, but it grooves along and there's no doubting Ms Franklins dulcet tones!

Nice one, Hamster. Just what I needed. Now I need to go and play the rest of 'Close To The Edge'... Meanwhile, here's a touch of the remastered video of Yes at QPR football ground. Patrick Moraz on keys; Squire on that Jazz bass again (at least for this number). Spot the...er...deliberate mistake!?! A great gig, nonetheless - I have to say that 'cos I was there. Yes - Yours Is No Disgrace (QPR 1975)

Over the years, from the above list, it's probably been a case of flitting from Rotosound to Elites to Ernie Ball to whatever else came my way. Among the 'whatever else' would be Trace Elliot 5-string (BLX and Regular), Trace Elliot Acoustic Bass, Gibson (previous endorsement) and Smith-Jackson 6-string (bought 3 sets in the US for $25 - bargain!).

Nice job on Sir Duke. I checked out your other Latin groove vid while on Youtube - good job there, too.
