More tightness from The Brecker Bros. Amazin' solos from drummer Richie Morales and bassist Neil Jason. (Note how pee'd off Randy Brecker is in the intro (0:07) when certain people are noodling when he's trying to speak! tsk tsk! )

This is as tight as the tightest thing in Tight Town! Don Grusin - Catwalk (live) And Abe's own band Koinonia

Doh! Is my face red? Thanks, Doddy, and my apologies guys. I was too damn lazy to double-check my copy of the album. Having now done that, I see that bass on 'American Tango' is actually credited to both Alphonso and Miroslav.

Weather Report get fonky! Miroslav Vitous doing the honours on bass. Weather Report - "Cucumber Slumber"

Soul Searching is one of my fave AWB albums. I've always loved this track from the same album. Nice live version of a smoov groove! AWB - "A Love Of Your Own"

Absolutely wicked player. His interplay with drummers is sheer class. I love this particular compilation demo-ing his mega-finger-funk technique!

Would you pay £700 for a Mexican Precision?

I don't own any Ibanez basses (though I did have an 80's Roadstar II guitar which was really rather nice!). I always fancied the 'Musician' MC924 bass, very popular in the 80's. But back around the mid-70's, I wanted an 'Artist' bass (as well as the guitar), similar to this one:
Is everybody who wants one sorted for one now? The offer is on until the end of Feb so you have another week or so to buy.
All sorted. Thanks again for your efforts, Jon, and to MusicMatter for a prompt and efficient service. Ordered Gramma Pad Tuesday morning, received Wednesday morning. Job done! Only thing is, I'm not gigging for a couple of weeks or so, so I'll have to wait to give it a proper go! Boo! In the meantime, I'll use it as a short step to reach the top shelf in my store cupboard!

I'm not sure if he still uses it but Thomas Risell (MarloweDK) on Youtube uses (used?) a PX4D, then a PX5D, for most of his bass videos. Sounded pretty decent to me.

Briefly, I guess I'm more simplistic in that I'll see (or describe) chords and scales in varying shades of light and dark, typically in relation to major and minor chords/scales respectively with other variations somewhere in between.
Unfortunately this does also date us somewhat
Have to agree with you there!
But not as much as saying that you saw Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page together at the Crawdaddy in the Yardbirds!
Hey, thanks cb, I feel young again!!
I was in the front row at the Hammersmith for that tour with the Climax Blues Band supporting, still one of the best gigs I've ever seen. JB was phenomenal, Si Phillips played the only other drum solo I really liked (Bonzo live on Whole Lotta Love is the other) and the master Mo Foster played so hard he broke a string which I've never seen since. This was in the days before JB decided to overuse the whammy bar.
Hey, excellent! I loved the guitar/drum duel JB had with Simon Phillips though I have to confess to missing (forgetting?) Mo Foster breaking a string. I do remember, however, Beck bringing on 'an old mate from a few years back' and Jimmy Page stepping out onto the stage. Mind you, I didn't recognise him; he looked like some hermit brought in off the street! I thoroughly enjoyed CBB supporting too. All in all, a knock-out gig for me also.

Well, I'm not sure I could be any later to this 'party' but I've worked my way through these last 8 pages plus the pages of the original thread in question and finally Hamster's statement. Hopefully, I'm more up-to-date with all of this and would just like to add my congrats and much respect to Hamster and the other mods for a job well done. I think if I had seen the original thread from the get-go, I would also have been singing the praises of the little.... no, I won't say it! Needless to say, I would likely also be feeling rather awkward and perhaps wondering about a refund! On a lighter note, my 'ace reply of the thread' award goes to Skankdelvar for his Captain Bexhill post. (Encore, sir, encore! )

I sooo wanted to see this gig and was unable to make it after all, but many thanks to The Funk for what seems like an objective and concise review of the show. I saw the JB 'There And Back' tour in '81 and not seen Beck since. I've not had the pleasure of seeing EC live at all... yet! I'm a long-time huge fan of both and probably would have enjoyed the whole gig anyway (even if, with all due respect to Narada and Rhonda, I would rather have seen Vinnie and Tal with JB on this one). Another bonus, for me, is the fact that Eric had Willie Weeks on bass, even if he did keep it reigned in. (Two keyboard players? Hmmm! ) Oh well, maybe I'll make it later in the year for EC and Stevie Winwood...???

Aria pro II super bass + amp and effects pedal
Stingray5 replied to Tyron's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Looks pretty legit to me though I'd also prefer cash on collection. To give the seller the benefit of the doubt, maybe s/he travels around the country in their job and so feels able to offer personal delivery? (Just a thought). -
Funny how taste changes over time. I remember when these basses came out and how much I didn't want one! It was like Frankenstein unbound! I thought at the time, anyway! What did I know!? I'm not at all against Gibson basses per se. I've owned an EB-2d and was loaned an EB-3 for a tour years ago. Both great basses, though not entirely my cuppa java in the end. That was then... But now, like Rich, this is one Gibson bass I'd be happy to own and this one in particular looks awesome!

Well I do hope you will both be very happy together! And with a looker like that, I don't see why not!

Yeh, that theme is sooo 70's, it's perfect. I must admit it did also put me in mind of 70's cop show 'The Streets Of San Francisco'. Just listen to the bass playing on that puppy! (sorry, the narration overdub is in there too, though does add to the nostalgic value... ) Unfortunately, embedding for this one is disabled, but it's the best sound quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRaB1aJ_Adw
The price I paid for mine was a shipped price and was shipped in the Gramma's box with a FedEx label slapped on it. I have asked for a discount price based on shipping to the individual buyers and I would be hoping for a saving on the price I paid. The other thing to mention is that I bought a GRAMMA for use with a TE 1x15 combo - the dimensions of the GRAMMA are slightly smaller than the TE combo (GRAMMA - 23", TE Combo - 24.2") but the feet on the TE were spaced 21" apart so fitted onto the pad almost perfectly.
Thanks, jtb. Will wait to see what they come back with. As it 'appens, I'm also using a TE 1x15 combo, along with a TE 2x10. Reckon that should be ok, going on what's been said here so far regarding weight and dimensions.

Just a quick question. I'm wondering how this would work regarding shipping? Whether the company will ship to individual purchasers (which would entail separate packaging of course) or possibly more likely, if they're discounting the product, send as one bulk order to a single address. Pads would obviously then need to be re-posted to individual buyers. Just wondering on the logistics etc of this. Sorry if I'm missing something here, but just wanted to check anyway...

That does it... three!!!
