Very very very very very very very very nice! Loving the Stingray (natch!), but that is one classy collection of basses you have there, b5. Did I say they were very nice?

I've followed this thread with interest from the outset and have both agreed and disagreed with various comments and remarks though, up to now, have resisted adding my 2p-worth. Ok, so -- for what it's worth -- I've been buying BGM almost from the first issue and will continue to buy it having seen it improve vastly in recent months. I'm also enjoying the latest issue though have not read it cover to cover... yet! However, as has been mentioned previously by others here, I am also still finding typo's and certain other errors that I feel warrant a mention. From the current issue: - Front cover: (sub-heading) "ELBOW Pete Turner on the making of [i][b]the[/b][/i] The Seldom Seen Kid" - Editorial (p.8): Final paragraph "[i][b]recieved[/b][/i]" (note - 'i before e except after c' ) - Take Five (p.17): letter spacing for Jean-Jacques Burnel makes his surname look like Jean-Jacques Bumel! That's all I'm going to say in this regard. Sorry if I'm being picky here. To be honest, I could mention a couple of other more minor points but really don't want this to be a total put-down of the magazine. It was just the above-mentioned 'errors' that jumped out at me and sshouted "Boo!", that I felt should be pointed out. On a positive note, I like the layout of the magazine which has a bright and modern presentation. Well done, keep improving and keep it coming! None of the above will put me off buying BGM which I shall continue to do. Hell, it's all we've got over here! No doubt we'll continue to play "Spot The Typo" too... Cheers, Steve

Anyhoo, as has been suggested, I'd go along with coming clean. The cost of repair may well out-weigh, or at least be close to, the value of the bass (if it's not sentimental to your friend). She might appreciate a 'new' bass instead(?).

(How's that for a cop-out? ) Seriously though, I've often talked about Donny Hathaway's voice being on a par with Stevie Wonder. Tone, expression, phrasing - all top-notch. I have the live album too and it's always been one that I've said: "I wish I was at that gig!" I also have the Donny Hathaway album 'Extensions Of A Man', which shows the extent of his genius for composition and arrangement. This guy was certainly more than just a soul singer. One of his finest moments for me was 'Someday We'll All Be Free'. Chord sequence (esp. the chorus), trumpet solo, bass lines.... Ok - I shut up, you listen:

+1 on the trolley. I fitted Ernie Ball [i]removable[/i] castors to my Trace bass combo years ago and they've paid for themselves a million times over where any back pain might be concerned. I mainly use my trolley for my Trace 2x10 cab. My gig box is one of those tool-box-on-wheels things from Halfords/B&Q/etc. The more wheels the better!

I bought a platted leather belt (found in a charity shop) which, when done up, overlays the small metal buckle. I'm now more in danger of my bass getting 'leather rash', I s'pose! +1 on moving any buckle to the side. Sorted.

This put me in mind of Grateful Dead's 1974 Wall of Sound PA rig. "Like, uh, where do I plug the bass in, man?"
