  1. So did she stay or did she go?! 😊 You've also finally put to bed the burning question on many of our lips of "is a Yammy BB good for metal?" AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie (Band cover) - Share Your Music - Basschat Great job, btw!
  2. Well I've been doing my usual procrastinating before taking the jump, partly to delay the inevitable pedal buying splurge that follows, like night the day, getting a larger pedal board. Particularly if I end up keeping one of my smaller boards! My revelation for the day is that a HB Spaceship 60 with hard case is pretty much the same size as a Pedaltrain Classic 1 with 'tour' case (the HB 60 board is, if anything, slightly bigger). But the HB board is HALF the price (even with VAT added and transport costs etc)!!! What am I missing? With the saving I can get a HB Iso-12 Pro which has 12 isolated outputs, slim format to fit underneath the board, and puts out 3 Amps. I've had really good experience, so far, with its little sibling the Iso-5 Pro, which is sitting snugly under my current small board.
  3. Ah the old originals vs covers band debate. Nope it's not a waste of talent to play other people's stuff. Following your logic there would never be another classical music concert. Live music done well which connects audiences and musicians is a good thing, full stop.
  4. Well we need to think about how a following is built on YT and with it multi-million views. That's not done "generally", but one specific track at a time. So with this cover, she's chosen an internationally popular and current track which in itself is going to garner a lot of interest; built up a following with her many preceding and well done bass covers, done an excellent job and presented it very well. (FWIW sufficiently good to be the source material for more than one very competent BCer looking to learn this number).
  5. Certainly be good to test that hypothesis. Here's one YT clip by her that is well regarded (and even includes some tasteful slap to keep it vaguely on topic 😉). Over to you to find a few bass players from the "hundreds and hundreds" of any shape or size who have recorded this one track and played it equally well.
  6. I needed to give that a 😂 too, but was restricted to one reaction! I suspect the 235 won't be a million miles from the 1025, and it's had a very good write up from the few owners on the Yammy BB thread who have both the 235 and one of the higher end models - good shout.
  7. For your budget I'd recommend a used Yamaha BB1025 or used Sire P7v5 Mk2, both 18mm string spacing. And given the quality and popularity of these you shouldn't have too much problem moving them on without much, if any, loss. You may actually prefer a flatter neck on a 5 as being more comfortable, given you're starting with a wider neck in the first place. Hopefully you're not too attached to your 4 strings 😁
  8. It's definitely an interesting digression. But here's the thing: for some reason super models, whether male or female, are all very "cute" as are many of the best paid film stars. The advertising industry worked that one out when they first figured out what advertising was, together with the fact that "sex sells". Methinks you're wasting your time trying to slap that one down: when it comes to show biz / the ents industry (which YT vids are just another facet) appearances matter whether we approve of that being the case or not; it's simply a fact of how us "stupid humans" are wired, right?
  9. In which case the world is his Blue Oyster Cult! Personally, I'd be very happy to recommend a used Yamaha 424, or a used Sire bass as being excellent value for money and good quality basses.
  10. Hi and welcome to BC! Not sure how old your son is - if he's still young then a short scale bass could be worth considering (they seem to be pretty popular anyway on this forum), but I'll leave my more knowledgeable BC'ers to recommend you a make and model, as I only play standard scale 34" and 35" basses currently. If you can get something used but in good condition, that will make your budget stretch a fair bit further / open up additional options.
  11. Oooh appreciate, it's a bit of a thread de-rail (but it's my party and I'll cry if I want to, right? 😁)...please tell us a bit more about your TT800 and why it's so good? What have you had previously to compare it against and what is giving the TT800 the edge over them for you?
  12. Weren't Orange doing something similar with a "doubled up" 12" cab a while back? Albeit same direction facing.
  13. Weight and portability are certainly important considerations for me, as I think you'll find they are for a lot of folk. Not too many on BC are lugging around "fridges" any more! But it's only a part of the equation: for example, I've traded up my BF SC for a heavier BF BB2, and have no plans of ditching my Fearless F112 which is heavier still and a wonderful cab.
  14. You checked BFs website yet? Full range and details spelt out in glorious detail if you're curious about all their cabs. Mostly 8 ohms only. Surprised your mate wasn't able to enlighten you on this... he's been a BF fan a while longer than me!
  15. Hopefully this counts as a tastefully done? Although if you blink you'll miss it at [1.28]... (Oh and the bass is in the FS if anyone fancies something exotic 😊)
  16. It's ok gents, you can stop fretting about the power amp capability on the DG M900. It doesn't cause me any concerns at all that I have plenty of headroom when using either my 8 ohm BF BB2 or 8 ohm fEARless F112. (And heaven forbid, I might even take them both out together at some point in the future...)
  17. Thanks. To bypass the EQ section entirely the fx loop would need to be in parallel though. I didn't spot any clues in the manual as to whether that was the case and, given I've not previously used fx loops myself, not considered whether series or parallel is the "standard" approach for fx loops on amps.
  18. Is the fx loop in parallel with the preamp or in series on the M900? If it's in series then I presume you're just swapping around the order i.e. putting the dUg after the preamp rather than before it? But either way in the M900 you can clean by-pass the AO circuit in the same way as you can if you had it as a preamp / drive pedal.
  19. Nope - 300W at 8 ohms is my preferred min. The M500 should handle that easily give it's 500W at 4ohms. But I'm not complaining about having 900W at 4 ohms on tap!
  20. Thanks(?? 😁) for sharing that. They do look intriguing. The 2x10 + 15 version of the one above is discussed at [4.22].
  21. One thing I hadn't clocked was that the 500W versions are not just a cut down power amp of the 900W versions, but are also a little more compact (which I'd view as a plus) and have dispensed with a few "nice to haves" present on the 900W versions: the M500 only has a master volume in place of both gain & master on the M900, just one DI out instead of both pre and post DI out options, no midi connectivity or no separate volume control for the headphones. So they are differently spec'd models and I guess the price differential between the two starts to stack up, although tbf I suspect I'd be entirely content with the 500W version in place of my 900W if I had got my hands on that instead. @NancyJohnson are you finding any difference to having the dUG in the fx return to putting it into the amp input?
  22. Completely agree that a slap dominated gear review is often not particularly useful! Not sure I agree about the live ego performance point, though. The very fact that you're prepared to play in front of a live audience requires an element of 'ego'. If you entertain your audience and they enjoy what you're bringing to the party collectively and individually all the better.
  23. +1^^ on all the above. I do love my fEARless F112, it's an outstanding 1x12! But the weight advantage of the BB2 is very welcome for use with my bands and it's obviously another very capable cab.
