  1. Another +1 for the Audio-Technica kit. I bought the ATH-PRO700Mk2 7 years back, as I similarly wanted something that could deliver a very decent bass. Happy to say that they're still going strong!
  2. Revisiting an old thread... @NancyJohnson - just spotted you've also got an M900 AO and I'd be very interested in hearing what your favourite amp settings are and when you're using? And if any of you other AO / M900 Mk2 want to chip in similarly with yours, then please do!
  3. Hey welcome to BC! I'm a bit of a stuck record on this(!) but if you're getting into a particular set of pedals for the first time then you get a ton of choice / opportunity as to see what's likely to work or not work by going for a cheaper multifx - and then you can follow up with a dedicated pedal which will nail the particular sound you're after. Personally I've got a Zoom B1-4 on my board and it also doubles up as a tuner, drum machine and headphone amp (with aux in) - as well as providing a decent selection of dirt options from Darkglass to RAT. The other recommendation if you are going for dedicated pedals is to see if you can pick up decent quality ones up used - that way you shouldn't lose much at all on a resale and means you get to A/B a bunch of pedals without breaking the bank. And one of the helpful things about buying from the BC for sale forums are the feedback threads which can you give you a lot of assurance that you're dealing with genuine folk. Having said all that the HB and Behringer pedals are already incredibly good value!
  4. BBP35 vs BB1025 vs BB735A The 734A/5A does give you more options. I've had two shots at giving a 735A a go and in my case my 1025 is the bass I've held on to! And FWIW I preferred my P35 over my 735A, but there are several 734A /5A owners on this thread who are very happy with their basses. If you pick a 734A/5A up used, you'll very probably be able to move it on for what you paid for it, so you can A/B them for yourself without too much risk of loss. @Dean Vincent - here's a couple of my previous posts on the subject in relation to your current query. You may, of course, prefer to pick the brains of someone who has never so much as laid eyes on any of the basses, but has enough performance experience to know that differences in feel... 😁
  5. @RigorMortens I've just been asked to re-write my post above by a mate, who is desperately keen to take your 1025x off your hands...so please accept the following corrections:
  6. Actually on reflection it does look very similar to the NS5 Helium range which can be had over here:
  7. Yup agreed - the flexibility of parallel routing is great to have on a multifx and something that would be a "must have" for me on anything that is not in the Zoom budget bracket. Allows simple but important stuff like running a clean blend in parallel to preserve low end / more natural tone. Not available on all Helix though (e.g. Pod Go).
  8. Their British Citrus looks particularly wicked. At one point it seems as though they were using the pedal as a power amp, which is mad (in a good way)! Not sure whether it would work particularly well on bass, but I'm tempted to find out!
  9. Love the fact that you built that expression pedal yourself! (And it does look good!)
  10. Yup - had a P35 and still have a 1025. The P35 edged it (just) over the 1025 tonally and was a lovely bass to play. But my 1025 was 1lb lighter and that won the day for me. The bridge pup on the 1025 is a little grittier than the P35's, which was a little "sweeter", and I do like using the solo'd bridge pup on the 1025 for B-string-heavy low end material as it cuts through well. I think if I had had the benefit of the wide Minotaur strap I'm now using, I might have held onto the P35. But no regrets at all about still having my 1025, which I have also preferred to and has seen off both the BB735A and a Sire P7 Mk2, which are both very decent basses.
  11. There's a whole lot of wisdom, right there.
  12. @danbowskill that board is pretty down right dirty! 😁
  13. Tbf - the same point is true for the Fender Rumble i.e. it, and indeed most other combos, only deliver their full payload when paired with an extension cab. The notable exception is the Markbass AC121 Lite which was designed to put out its full 500W payload through its single 1x12" cab and had greater speaker excursion to accommodate. And mine had no trouble whatsoever in matching up to a full 5 piece rock band!
  14. That makes a lot of sense. You're going from 300W with just 1x12" speaker pushing out air to the full 500W with 2x12"s, so you should be getting a decent volume step up.
  15. Yeah the string tension is pretty poor compared to a normal bridge, I've heard...
  16. Or this and save £125? 😉
  17. I guess spraying the existing bridge isn't an option?
  18. @Pow_22 some really useful tips at the start of this thread, in case you've not already seen: Spector TonePump - Bass Guitars - Basschat (ignore the usual Krow thread hi-jack towards the end!) Dialling back the TonePump has been bit of a game-changer for me with my Spector. Has transformed it from really good --> outstanding. PS I now see that's a thread you're already familiar with, given your Blondie post right at the start!
  19. I'm putting the general increases down to the weakness of £ in the couple of years before you-know-what. But now that is behind us and £ has strengthened again, fingers crossed we will start to see a reversal of those price jumps.
  20. And I would never have a hope of catching you either...
  21. Worth also bearing in mind that the ST = 2 x SC i.e. you don't get the upper freq. response of the SM, which I think you are keen on in terms of your pairing options. I'm very similar to you in terms of stairs and wanting to protect my aging back etc. and for me the compromise was to settle on circa 30 lbs for a BB2 with padded cover. Tbf dark alley, Cuzzie and me, there would only ever be one outcome...😁
  22. Great pedal (yup, it really is very good!) and what a fun video, just loved the "I'm a filter addict" at the start.
  23. Haha - yes stick to buying and selling Yammy BB 434s...😂 If you do get another B1-4, please feel free to grab my free set of patches before having another of your bargain clear outs: the Darkglass B7K is not too shabby at all, and the Tape Echo is just fantastic!
  24. Yep my SC had a dispersion that was notably wider / broader than the previous Markbass cab I had been using. There was a clarity of sound right across the width of venue stage area, which was just great.
