  1. Bet Andy could do it pretty professionally and for half the cost!
  2. Right one month and three days down and I've got no new gear (other than something I had for a morning before returning), sold a bass and a Smoothhound. So am I still out then ref?
  3. Cheers. I'm not much cop with a soldering iron, so I'll probably get Bass Gallery in Camden to sort for me. I'm guessing it's going to be a £200+ job for labour and parts for a John East 3 band. What is it about the Glock hits the mark for you?
  4. I came pretty close to pulling the trigger on a BB75 recently and your thumbs-up is certainly not helping! It did feel very nicely balanced. The EQ was seriously versatile: two single coil tap / full humbucker switches, one for each pup vol knob with pull for active / passive pup selector 3 band EQ Unfortunately the EQ was a little shot (mids did nothing and treble was more like a secondary vol) - I guess not surprising for a nearly 20 yo bass. Is it possible to replace just the 3 band EQ (e.g. with an J East?) part of the preamp, or am I looking at full new preamp replacement to cover off all of the above?
  5. Vintage white would be perfect. Probably not Yammy on the headstock though, but thanks for asking. Out of interest, do you not use abbreviations - or is that simply too long a word?
  6. Hey @M@23 the blue sparkle even features blue LEDs! Now if only it were a P35 and not a 734 eh...?
  7. Too late...you've already bid and paid for the 8 lb'er 😁 Who do we know on this thread that could sort one of those out for you....hmmm?
  8. Do I hear any reduction below 8lbs - 7.5 lbs anyone? No? Going once, going twice, GONE to that nice gentleman from that splendid Bon Jovi tribute band...
  9. And LEDs Mark, don't forget the LEDs... 😁
  10. Yup - a LOT going on, and all potential nice to haves too, in an analogue box.
  11. I really like the look of this. Could be my first foray into Way Huge gear...
  12. They're you go, already pre-sold before you've even decided to sell 😁
  13. I think you may incur the wrath if the mods unfortunately if you did it that way around. By all means do them here and in the FS at the same time.
  14. We seem to be largely splitting into the Vintage White and Orange-is-the-new-black camps on here? I get my head turned by Vintage White basses, whatever the model! Can't believe I turned down the chance to get a VW 5000A for £850 a couple of year's back.
  15. Some chap on TB resprayed his Rickenbacker in the Andy T blue sparkle finish (can't seem to locate that particular post now) - but I've never seen a single post "liked" so much as that one! Thing is - IMO they ALL look better than the current colour offerings simply by having matching headstocks and which only the PH and NE2 have have in the current BB line up.
  16. How very odd! I'm sure you'll even the score 😁
  17. Ah fair enough. The "correct" number for a fully kitted bass herd has been well established to be NINE. Anything more than that is a little excessive and results in the hassle of having to move basses on. 😁
  18. Hi Tony, Had a few multifx in my day and have have landed on the Zoom B1-4. In fact I have two - one at the heart of my little board and a spare as a very handy headphone amp / drum machine / tuner. I use for dirt, chorus, delay, some really useful EQ settings etc. I've found I've mostly created my own patches rather than use the uploaded presets and the format of 5 banks of 10 patches makes moving about pretty easy particularly when combined with the up / down paddles. Creating and editing patches can be done on the pedal itself or via the very handy Zoom PC editing software or the even better free ToneLib software (link to that on the OP of the thread below): Zoom B1-4 & B3N - Effects patch ideas and tips - Effects - Basschat Overall it's amazingly good value!
  19. @marleaux62is that because you're preferring the greater sustain of the 3000A which, from what folk have said, the PH also delivers?
  20. Spalted and bird's-eye maple both really are gorgeous. Congrats on having such a fantastic bass!
  21. Not going to dispute any of the medical stuff with you matey, you're way more expert than most of us on here! We're both agreed AZ is a joint UK Swedish venture and for me the Swedes are a wonderful lot and one of the few nations that have hit the 0.7% foreign aid target (in fact the first to do so). They very much regarded the UK as a natural ally when we were part of you know what. I'm hugely impressed with the price AZ are charging for their vaccine - it is a cause for celebration and I do see it as a genuine act of altruism. No issue with it being a big thumbs up to AZ (and to both the UK and Sweden) for doing this - I don't see many other Western govts encouraging their drug companies to do the same, do you? Interested why you think it's not being made available at cost to some countries such as SA? Cost will include shipping as we all know, it will also certainly include R&D and manufacturing costs. If SA are paying more per vaccine, I suspect it is merely balancing out these additional factors - remember the UK has poured in a lot to support the R&D effort already and doesn't have the same shipping costs. PS optimism can be just that; it doesn't have to be blind just because it is optimism.
  22. Concur that a Fodera is not my cup of tea aesthetically either. But then we are both Ibby SR body shape fans. Ok let's maybe agree that Alembics and Ken Smiths are stunning? The point I'm making is they are purely a premium brand and source their woods and electronics to match. As the OP pointed out this is essentially an Ibby Prestige, which for me lacks the premium sound of well.. err a £1k Ibby Premium. No way would I ever pay £5k for it. Ever. And more to the point, who on this thread honestly would? Put an Alembic, Wal or KS up for that price and you'll find they will shift, because they are recognised quality brands who have consistently delivered in that high end space.
  23. Yes can't disagree with deaths per capita for wealthy nations nearly a year into this pandemic. We are shamefully top of the ladder here! There is a strong link of virus deaths to obesity though. But that's not a simple topic - you have the anti body-shaming woke brigade, criticism that a sugar tax will unfairly hit the poorer members of society but who also account for greater obesity rates etc. etc. And socialist Scotland hasn't exactly covered itself in glory with drug related deaths which are the highest in the West. My point of mentioning the SNP is simply to point out that there are societal issues which run deeper than whether its a left or right wing administration at the helm. I'd love to think there is a magic wand here. Genuine question - what would you suggest? No I don't think that is completely correct. AZ was formed between Swedish pharmaceutical company, Astra AB, and UK-based Zeneca Group plc (with originally > 50% of the joint shareholding relating to the UK group). AstraZeneca’s corporate headquarters are in the United Kingdom, while its R&D headquarters are n Sweden, with major centres of R&D excellence in both the UK and USA. But specifically the research for the AZ Covid vaccine was carried out at Oxford Uni. The UK Govt encouraged the partnership between Oxford Uni and AZ rather than with the US Merck (to head off the risk of Trump imposing a vaccine export ban if the vaccine was manufactured in the US). AZ are providing the production expertise. The R&D was led by Oxford Uni. My issue with a lot of the comments is that folk seem to only be willing to pick up on the negatives and not give corresponding credit where its due e.g. on the development and roll out of the UK vaccination programme.
  24. I think tbf to Cuzzie, he almost certainly meant his 19/20 tax return (ie not his 20/21) which was due by 31 Jan. Btw HMRC have given an extension to 28 Feb for online filing of 19/20 income tax returns in case any of you good folk didn't get yours done by 31 Jan.
