Actually my 'ead has got the better of my heart on that one, so the field of battle is clear for you to storm to victory! Although as much as I love the idea of the bass that we both have our eye on, I struggle to believe it will outshine some of the Spector beauties already in your herd!

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
Al Krow replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
More seriously though, playing with sound limiters is just the WORST! We're seriously thinking of refusing to play at any functions in future where there's one in place. Just by the audience joining in on a chorus can set the damn thing off and power cut to your rig! -

Even with Al written on the side, this has absolutely no chance of staying below 85dB (except when grounded 'cos someone's snaffled the engine) -
Just had a listen. I'm mean they're ok, but a bit Evanescence Lite. I'm with @cetera on this one.

Kind of you to say re the GVB! I've restrung it E to E for a "classical bass" project and purely for personal pleasure! It has a narrower 14mm strings spacing which is maintained throughout the length of the fretboard, which makes it easier to stretch across the neck whilst leaving enough space to hold down notes on individual strings which some of the more standard (and even more narrowly spaced) Bass VIs don't so easily allow. However the GVBs had gone out of production shortly before I had worked out that it was exactly what I was after; but I was lucky to secure one of the very last ones available in Europe (from a store in Germany) which was being sold with an end of line discount, which doubly made me smile given that, for once, I'd have been more than happy to shell out the full-fat price given how hard they had become to come by!

Spector, Status, Ken Smith, Ibanez BTB, Warwick...the list goes on!
-
Yes, the only current model neck-through (NT) is the BB NE2. And I think it's quite a stretch to include that in the "BB" range given it lacks the ubiquitous P or reverse P pup present in the rest of the range and has a sculpted body, as well as the Nathan East preamp. For me the key benefits of a NT (as well as looking sooo good!) are added sustain which can also result in improved clarity and articulation - and the latter is very much a feature of my Ken Smith. But in many ways that is the opposite of what you might be after when seeking that "classic P sound": a bolt on can definitely have its place!
-
Cool. My heart would love to get a BB1200S but my head is telling me to stick to the game plan of keeping to 5ers! Will be really interested in getting your feedback on how the new PH stacks up against the 1200S - Peter H seems to be very effusive about the new lady in red
-
Good stuff - is it a Japanese or Korean made model?
-
Really engaging YT clip, thanks for sharing that. Given that he's into reverse P and neck through, kinda surprised Hooky never became a Spector fan. But I guess if he's got seven BB 1200S, he's probably just about managed to find his "sound"...
-
Interested the Peter H model is one knob down on the 1200S despite having pretty much the same single reverse P config? So is it the case that the PH is essentially a reduced-knob bolt-on version of the 30 year old classic BB1200S in any colour you want so long as it's red?

Hopefully got better value from them than their sale of our gold reserves at the bottom of the market!! -
Level?

But what was the answer? 😄

Well I think you're dancing a little on a pin head there. Whether or not its "permitted" none of our EU neighbours have sought to get this approved so quickly under their own independent regimes; partly 'cos few have the international standing and expertise of the MHRA. The Spitfires could do with a lick of paint, anyway. -

We've got as good a shot at this as anywhere on the planet. And right now I'm glad our govt (for all its faults) and world class drugs regulator have got their act together so quickly. Mr Fry, a managing director of Sanofi, a Paris-based multi-national and the world's fifth biggest drug maker, said decoupling from the EU's regulatory and purchasing mechanisms had enabled the "nimble buying" of hundreds of millions of doses and a rapid green light for the Pfizer/BioNTech jab. Mr Fry praised the flexibility of the UK Vaccines Taskforce, which has so far secured access to 357 million doses of vaccines from seven different manufacturers. The UK was the first country in the world to pre-order supplies of thePfizer vaccine, securing 40 million doses. "They've been fast and they got a really nice selection and they got good volumes," Mr Fry said. "I'm not convinced that if they'd been part of that European buying programme they'd have had quite the speed and the flexibility to do it." -

I loved the characters in Hitch Hikers Guide... 😁 -
Ah you spotted..."so what attracted you to that old multi millionaire then?" 😄
-
Oh dear, Mick, was it you who let that lovely bass slip through your hands? If it's making a Sadowsky sweat (which tbf I would have kinda expected, but hey I'm just a teeny bit biased) then it's serious quality! @AndyTravis what is it about the seriously good looking, sculpted body, reverse PJ set up and Spector punch that makes you partial to this bass?
-
Just moving this comment to the right thread 😁

Good summary of the pros and cons. ^^ Yup fair point. One other thing worth mentioning is don't overlook what's on the back of the AO900 amp. There are a surprising lot of goodies on there: Two cab outputs so no need to daisy chain cabs Both pre and post DI outputs available simultaneously IRs can be loaded USB and midi connectivity And although you're unlikely to need in most situations the DG has even more headroom than the Quilter.

I find that a shocking statement and hard to comprehend.

You hear about the guy who came home at midnight nursing a bloated stomach? "Went on a pub crawl with a mate..." he tells his not too impressed missus, "...but that fifth substantial meal was definitely a mistake!"
