Guilty pleasure confession! Saw Mel C on Jools last night and thought I'd give her 2020 album, the creatively titled "Melanie C", a listen. It's pretty good! In terms of bass tone - a couple of classic keyboard bass lines on: "Blame it on Me" starting at 0.54 - wondering whether the C4 can deliver that @Quatschmacher, @dodge_bass? "In and out of love" at 0.08 - P bass plus flats get close here?

Bergantino CN212 cab 4ohms. Now ***SOLD***
Al Krow replied to dave_bass5's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I owned this for a short while before trading it for Dave's Fearless F112. I can vouch that it's possibly the very best cab I've had (including Vanderkley, Barefaced, Mesa Boogie and Markbass). Dave is a top bloke and looks after his kit really well. This will be an absolute treat for anyone looking for a fantastic 2 x 12.- 35 replies

Anyone still after a BB414? This one, which looks like it's in reasonable condition, is currently on eBay for £80 posted with 3 days left on the auction. Suspect it won't end up at the price though, otherwise it will be this year's Yammy bargain! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BB414-Bass-with-Ritter-Gigbag/293807745758?hash=item44684e6ade:g:4roAAOSwRkNfnITd

Enjoyed this little Zepplin-esque blues offering from our own @spiritchaser

Sold Oliver my spare Smoothhound wireless - v.smooth transaction and good comms throughout. Pleasure to deal with.

Great stuff - very pro! What's the fetish with baked beans? 😄

So is is it a noticeable step up from the BB 235 then?! On the pic uploading front - it's possible you may have used up your 488 MB limit. See "My Attachments" when you scroll down from your Avatar name on the top right of the screen. If so you will need to delete a few of your no longer relevant / older attachments to free up some space.

You are clearly more successful with diets than me! Although tbf I've had a much more restrained 2020 on the gear front and am only up one bass: a relatively modest used Yammy BB735A, which is a replacement for one I sold in 2019, the same colour and actually about the same age too - I guess that's about as "like for like" as it gets! In terms of my own 2021 wish list: a multifx upgrade over my recently sold Helix is top of my list. The Boss SY-1000 is the leading contender for me, but I'm looking forward to seeing if there are any surprises crawling out of the woodwork at (virtual?) NAMM 2021. Multis are getting better all the time as both chip processing power and their UIs, both on pedal and via PC editing, continue to improve.

Well if you will keep forking out for Overwater basses with your spare cash in the meantime...😁 That does sound like a good present!

I think Dave @dmccombe7 started a thread a while back which asked for views on the pros / cons of Bergs. Couldn't locate it with a quick search just now, but I'm sure he or someone else may recall where it is. Worth a little peruse.

My pleasure and privilege to start a feedback thread for Kelpie. I very recently bought a Yamaha bass off him - really good comms throughout and he kindly delivered it to my door. The bass was in the condition he described and the price agreed was very reasonable. I would be very happy to deal with Keplie again and have no hesitation in recommending him to my fellow BC'ers. Looking forward to getting along to one of your gigs as soon these start happening again! Cheers mate.

Alan replied to my wanted ad for a Zoom pedal. Very smooth transaction and good comms throughout; the pedal was carefully packed and in the condition described - thanks!

Thanks Lozz. I know I'm biased, but I think you could like it a lot! If you scroll a page or so back (to Oct 24th), I posted a tone comparison of the 735A vs a quality Sandberg, plus a YT clip of a 735A in the mix, which will give you good idea of how it sounds. All three YT clips were uploaded by our fellow BC'ers and, by coincidence, feature both my previous and current 735As! My only caveat is that the Yammy PJ 5er has it's own tone and feel, including a very playable neck. I love the Yammy tone and fantastic build quality, but it isn't a clone of a Fender P, which I know you're a big fan of. I personally think the Sire P7 comes closer to a Fender P, both in appearance and sound, and the Sire P7 Mk2, which I had, is also a great-value bass and is comfortably lighter than its predecessor Sire P7 Mk1.

@AndyTravis and @MoJo are your men when it comes to all things BB414!

Awww shame the Zoom didn't get a fair billing, particularly as it was pitched against relatively budget competition other than #5...I think the result of the vote has been stolen 😁
-
Awww that sounds so much sexier in Italian 😁

The difference between a well played in bass and a new one? Yamaha actually make a thing of this and some of their high-end basses come with "A.R.E." (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement), resulting in "outstanding tonal balance and eliminating the harsh edge common with younger guitars". They've basically given "sonic treatment" to the basses so that they have a "played in" feel.
-
So in terms of your preferences was there much difference between the 1605 and 2605? And is the EHB1505 your new favourite? All Nordstrand Big Singles and pretty much the same Ibby 3 band EQ with variable mids on each, although the EHB has fully variable mid rather mid selector switch I know.

And once more - over 12 months ago now in fact(!):

Just need @Dad3353 to do his magic "thread refresh" to restore some of the older posts and this thread will be good to go!
-
@biro - love your two basses. Which exact models are they?
-
Haha - just once a year, for the past three years. But only because: a) it made sense; and b) because you have caused me more expenditure than any other person on BC! So far: - 5 (!!) Ibby basses, of which I still have 3; - Boss SY-1 and now TWO (including a spare) Zoom B1-4 pedals - both your threads I believe? Maybe with the notable exception of @pedwho persuaded me to fork out on a KS, which took him to the top of my cost chart at a stroke and is now in cahoots with you about removing my resistance to getting a SY-1000 & GK3 pup...
