Ok thanks for confirming that. In which case Mixcraft is worth mentioning as this seems to do both well - on my shortlist. Useful if any folk are wanting to do both but not keen on getting up to speed / investing in two separate editing packages. The latest version Mixcraft 9 has been getting some very good reviews from the likes of Music Radar. There's a cut down "Studio" version as well as a pricier full fat version and I guess the earlier Mixcraft 8 will be very good value.

How is Reaper for video editing? Are you guys using a separate video editor?

Just spent a bit of timing getting the volume balanced on each of my dirt patches on my B1-4 and took the opportunity to tweak / cull a few. Down to my 4 favourites: B7K - this is surprisingly good and has got a 4 band EQ, clean blend and bass boost, so there really is pretty minimal low end loss; BlueB BOD (FatTubes patch) - which is a sim of the Mad Professor Blueberry BOD; BassOctFuzz - adds an octave above (I guess similar to the Pigtronix Octavia, but doesn't cut through as well as the Octavia); RAT (Squeak patch) - which unlike the original ProCo RAT adds in a (vital) dry blend. I continue to be gobsmacked by how good this multifx is for the money!

Ahhh don't! That is SUCH a depressing thought that there might not be any gigs in 2021...

Deal

Thanks for confirming the first point and well spotted on the second! I think it was either me or our guitarist who worked out exactly that a short while after we played this gig, but this was the only gig I've recorded with the Fearless F112...I'll get Dave to record us playing it correctly next time around 😊

When working out what you're going for, worth considering a DAW that also has decent video editing capability as well as sound editing, and do away with the need for a separate video editing package.

Sometimes you have to follow your heart! Besides, since when has music purely been about the "head"? FWIW - I can't think of any other PJ 5er with active / passive option that matches the 735A's quality, until you are hitting twice that price (and more). I suspect you will love it and, if you don't, then you won't have any difficulty moving it on! When is it arriving? Will you be looking to sell your BB235 or keeping it as a purely passive bass?
-
When did "not needing" a piece of bass gear ever stop us getting something we really wanted?! 😁 I don't know how many Yammy BB735As Bass Direct has in stock - so if you want it for that currently excellent price, I suggest you hit your credit card quickly before I stop dithering about whether to get it myself (the Yamaha Store won't have any replacement stock until late Nov) and @marleaux62, who has recently clearly got a very bad dose of the Yammy bug, beats you to it!
-
Ah shame. Yes, the price tag only makes sense to me if this is a replacement for both a Helix multifx and a C4 / FI, which in my case it would be.
-
@Chopthebass I hope yours has got black hardware and not the trashy gold hardware that this one has - otherwise you're likely to come in for a fair bit of abuse from ancient Egyptian admiring types on this forum 😁 Check out P13 / 14 of the thread for some NE2 chat and I posted a short review of it on 13th March 2018 (P13). And congratulations!! Dunno what other basses you currently have, but the NE2 is an absolute corker!
-
May have been mentioned a couple of times 😉
-
I thought it would be a slam dunk for the matt black - particularly with ALL Series 3 headstocks (including on the P34/5s!) being black, but the black headstock doesn't feel too out of place with the burst either.
-
Actually that's really good to know, as I've been reliably informed that latency is an issue with the GK 13 pin unless it's fitted very well?
-
Bass Direct have just dropped their price to £729 shipped for a 735A and given that these basses seem to hold their value pretty well (as can be seen from 414/5, 424/5 and 1024/5 used prices), I'm really tempted to get a new replacement one for the used one I sold a while back (apparently because I was holding onto my P35, or so I thought!). Lot more convenient for me in terms of follow up servicing / warranty issues to get from the Yammy store in London, and they have confirmed they are willing to match the best online prices - so that's a point worth bearing in mind. So I just need to decide on satin black or coffee sunburst now then - decisions, decisions haha! I'm guessing you lot would split fairly evenly between the two options?
-
You've gone for some quality Yammys then! I've included in the "wall of shame" on the OP - amusingly the Yammy bass owners with names / avatars beginning with "M" are far and away the most common. Not sure what that says about anything! 😁
-
Well the Berg 212 is an awesome cab! My only draw back with the Berg 112 is its lower power handling compared to the F112 or BB2: you would probably want 2 x Berg 112s, whereas a single F112 or BB2 should be able to handle most venues where there isn't a PA available.
-
So you're particularly after a cab for crappy hollow stages...gotcha! 😂
-
Yeah, shame you weren't there (a) to hear it in person and (b) to do us a much better video recording with your talented photography and videographer hat on!
-
Come on @ped - chip in, you know you want to (I can see you lurking) 😁 A worthy successor to your VB99 at last?

Tax and duty on instruments when we leave the EU

I am sorry to hear that. But what is your concern about medication - I'm not aware of any plans to abolish free prescriptions? -
Thanks, agreed. Any views on whether an active or passive bass is likely to work better with the SY-1000?

Hah! Come to think of you it you're right! My favourite mainstream basses - Yamaha, Ibanez; favourite multi fx pedals Helix, Zoom, Boss (aka Roland). ALL Japanese (parented)! Good job we have a FTA with Japan then isn't it? 😁 -
Probably the best demo I've found so far on YT. Yes, this thing is impressive! @Kiwi check out the signal chain and multi instrument layering at 04.00+ Does that get you to where you need to be on the sequencing front?

There's a used Fearless F112 in the FS currently for £500 which is a complete steal. I personally rate it as one of the very best 1x12 cabs around (worth also considering a BF BB2). I have my F112 set up at with a Mesa M6 for my home rig and it's a superb combination. There are a large number of excellent amp heads in your price range - all with different flavours and features. Do you have a particular sound you're after?
