Four String Five String? Now NBD. Why is nobody surprised?

Interesting - that's pretty much what I thought you were going to say. In which case the Ibby SR Premium range with 16.5mm spacing was designed with you in mind! An incredibly playable neck for a 5 string. And IMO a pretty tasty rest of the bass too! -

More precisely the G string, eh? 😁 -

@Skinnyman out of interest what is it about 5s that you don't get on with? -
@Quatschmacher as a former FI user, I think I would be right in saying that a lot of us are massively grateful for the time and skill you've put into this pedal and in devising and sharing so many excellent patches for free. But also taking the time to be a goto resource for anyone who has sought your help. Bravo mate, you're a hero.

But maybe there is a difference here between an originals band and covers bands? Covers bands like mine really can't get too arsey about ownership of band names: it's not like any of us are paying royalties every time we cover other folks songs!
-
One of my covers bands has had our band name used by another after we started ours and the other 50s and 60s band ended up using a name already in use by several bands (which we hadn't spotted initially). Obviously best if you've got something unique, but not worth getting too hung up about if you then find it's a duplicate. If folk are precious about it they can trademark the name. Otherwise it remains available for anyone to use.

@LukeFRCI think you've pretty much nailed it. The SC is also ridiculously portable, which is the other factor keeping me from moving mine on! So from a "grab'n'go" perspective, when things start up again, it will be SC for band rehearsals and pub gigs and the BB2 (which tbf is not exactly 'sumo' class!) for weddings and functions. But that's just what's going to work well for me, from a practical perspective, with my covers bands.

Just announced: "Gov. Greg Abbott orders Texas bars to close again and restaurants to reduce to 50% occupancy as coronavirus spreads." The UK in two month's time?
-
Hey - try this as a starter for 10 . I actually pulled it together for another use - but will hopefully get you part of the way there. And then you can return the compliment with your final version!
-
Nah - I'm very aware that we're largely an older crew! It's just that we are sacrificing our kids futures at the alter of our own safety. Gotta get the balance right.

Slightly shocking stats: Around 100 Covid-19 fatalities in the UK for under 30s, which is just 0.3% of the total. 93% of all fatalities are in the 60+ age group Is it time to let the youngsters get on with their lives (and those most at risk to take greater precautions) part of which will be to get live music up and running again?

I have the Sire P7 (mk2) 5er and the BB 1025 (which will be pretty similar to the BB 435) and have had the 425 previously. The P7 gives you additional active EQ options and I actually prefer solo P pup on the Sire over the Yammy's. The Yammys are a fantastic passive bass, and I find they sound great on combined PJ setting. You won't go wrong with either and they are excellent value and stand up well against basses costing a lot more. If you're talking EMG PJs then you get me thinking about Spectors...now that would be a treat!

If they came as zombies, I think we should be ok. I guess it's just that time of the season.

Ah bless you! I'll let the missus know asap and I'd best have a quick look through all folk's best basses on this thread to get some inspiration for that missing 11th bass. I feel my collection probably has enough status and that audiences seem to be much more bothered about my playing lacking a certain precision...

And lovely it is too, in a not so commonly seen vintage white. Thanks for popping in on this thread, and come back again soon! 😁

I agree that it does sound superficially heartless. But there are a bunch of tough choices ahead for all countries and their leaders. I'd hate to be in their shoes right now. India tried lock down and people started going hungry: they had to pull back: Covid deaths now starting to pile up. Tough choices. We're obviously more fortunate than many developing countries, but 4 million folk unemployed by November is no joke either, state school kids not being educated with their futures blighted, cancer patients not being treated to make way for Covid sufferers. This thing ain't easy or straightforward.

Well the first piggy went to market...
-
...yup, but just bear in mind the BB2 doesn't have a tweeter control and has a horn rather than a tweeter (see my earlier post at the start of this thread).
-
Yup weird how we're hearing different things from the YT clip! I think 3 of us, so far, on this thread have both the BB2 and SC and have been able to A/B them "in the flesh" over a period of time (and not just in a store) which has gotta be the best test? The vote from this particular subset of BF owners seems overall to be firmly in favour of the BB2 over the SC if we had to keep just one of them for solo use.

That does look good, but the power pack is double the size of the pedal!

Sell your existing monitor. Save the cost of a gain pedal with independent volume control and DI out. And get this for around £200. Job done. No seriously - it's gotta be worth considering?
-
I'd say the 1024 / 1024x typically go for around £400 to £475 depending on condition (and the 5 string versions for a little more) . There have been a fair few listed in the FS, so that should give you a pretty good idea.
-
Yeah fair enough. In your shoes I'd be tempted to get a decent powered monitor with DI out. But if you did that we wouldn't have anything to chew over 😁
