  1. Brings back memories of a thread I started up 4 years ago on a similar theme... I did actually end up with a Yamaha - a BB1025 and I have another of that same model which is still one of my goto gigging basses alongside an Ibanez SR1825 (and you could also certainly also get the latter for your budget in vgc used). I'm just amused about the two statements I've highlighted. I wonder if it will turn out to be as false for you as it did for me!😁
  2. One step up from the BB425 (an excellent bass btw!) is the Yamaha 735A which retails for around £750 and will cover a lot of bases: active 3 band EQ or passive if you want (a nice to have if the battery ever runs out mid-gig!), and P / PJ / J pup settings. Body through stringing and 5 piece laminate neck all add to the quality and durability. And as Paul has just mentioned, you'll still be left with a decent chunk of change to spare from your budget...
  3. In case anyone's interested, I've just come across this forum and registered: https://tonelib.net/forums/ (link also posted on the OP for ease of reference).
  4. OK when was the last time there was a thread on Marshall amps? Probably the same time as we were gushing over what a Vox AC30 provided when we had long hair and played the guitar! 😁 I have no recollection these days of what a Marshall bass amp sounds like; you're maybe gonna have settle for Ampeg or SWR like the rest of us...
  5. Lol! With pleasure. I'm actually now pretty happy with my overall banks of B1-4 fx - I've got them organised in the 5 banks (of max 10) for easy access with a few fx patches in each bank, under: Modulation & Delay Dirt Octave, Filter & Synth Amp & Cab Other I don't know if I can share a single file with all the settings via ToneLib or if I am restricted to individual patches - I'll have a look into that. I presume you have downloaded and are using ToneLib John?
  6. Sadly not. "This mine" was referring to my favourite version...
  7. Zoom B1-4 does pretty decent modulation and a lot else besides...
  8. Ciocks DC7 provides USB out and will also have plenty of power for your Helix at the same time; buy they're not cheap: Really compact form too, allowing you to slot under your PB in similar fashion to the OneSpot CS6 or Ciocks DC5 or the excellent value HB PSUs from Thomann. I got mine earlier in the summer from Walshy of this parish, but it has been lying in its box since due to a lack of gigs / any need for a my larger board - pm me if you're interested: I should be able to get it to you just in time for Sat's gig!
  9. Mick aka @TheGreek has had a few of the BBNs, I recall, although I think they were 4 rather than 5 string There is definitely a different neck profile between eg the 1024 and 1025 with the 5s having a flatter radius to make them more comfortable to play in conjunction with being a 5 string. Dunno if the same would be true of the BBNs? The one in the FS has had some interesting mods done to it; not entirely sure whether these will be "improvements" or just "chages"!
  10. Hopefully there are one or two of us playing DB & EUB live / or even via Zoom and others have some dates in the diary? I've certainly been enjoying spending a bit more time getting up to speed on my cheap and cheerful Stagg EUB and now have half a set's worth of material under my belt. Just another set and a half to go... 😁
  11. Bass 6 is a pretty good setting - I shared a couple on the SY-1 thread, maybe try them out and see if they are any good?

Ditto. Although I never managed to quite take up smoking. Mis-spent youth on my part, I'm afraid.
  13. It's certainly the former, although a tad faded...and definitely has the appearance of being from 1977. This got to #5 that year, but was re-released later the same year by some talented young female and got to #1 (Nice, demanding bass riff around 5.10+)
  14. I don't have a 1977, but I do have a table. Does that qualify me to join the ♣?
  15. Yeah - be great to hear both the Helix and SY-1 in action. What SY-1 settings you planning on using?
  16. Enjoy - and get it video'd if you can!
  17. You've got a gig! #welljel

Thanks Stew - definitely not despairing as a B1-4 owner it's giving me half a dozen gigable effects each worth £50 to £100 a piece if I had to get a dedicated pedal instead, headphone amp, drum machine and tuner all for £50 used...so I really can't complain!
  19. Yes, completely agree. It's an additional hassle (and cost) factor. Confirmed earlier in this thread that Reaper not suitable for doing both together, however:
  20. Ok thanks for confirming that. In which case Mixcraft is worth mentioning as this seems to do both well - on my shortlist. Useful if any folk are wanting to do both but not keen on getting up to speed / investing in two separate editing packages. The latest version Mixcraft 9 has been getting some very good reviews from the likes of Music Radar. There's a cut down "Studio" version as well as a pricier full fat version and I guess the earlier Mixcraft 8 will be very good value.
  21. How is Reaper for video editing? Are you guys using a separate video editor?
  22. Just spent a bit of timing getting the volume balanced on each of my dirt patches on my B1-4 and took the opportunity to tweak / cull a few. Down to my 4 favourites: B7K - this is surprisingly good and has got a 4 band EQ, clean blend and bass boost, so there really is pretty minimal low end loss; BlueB BOD (FatTubes patch) - which is a sim of the Mad Professor Blueberry BOD; BassOctFuzz - adds an octave above (I guess similar to the Pigtronix Octavia, but doesn't cut through as well as the Octavia); RAT (Squeak patch) - which unlike the original ProCo RAT adds in a (vital) dry blend. I continue to be gobsmacked by how good this multifx is for the money!
  23. Ahhh don't! That is SUCH a depressing thought that there might not be any gigs in 2021...
  24. Thanks for confirming the first point and well spotted on the second! I think it was either me or our guitarist who worked out exactly that a short while after we played this gig, but this was the only gig I've recorded with the Fearless F112...I'll get Dave to record us playing it correctly next time around 😊
