  1. We BC'ers spend a lot of time pursuing that elusive tone quest! What song tracks have you come across on your travels, either studio recorded or particularly live, where you were blown away by the bass tone? If you have audio or video clips then please feel free to share and if you know the details of the rig, even better!
  2. Are you sure you want to pull your punches here? 😁 FWIW - I'm going to keep the Zoom software installed just for ease of being able to provide y'all with single rather than multiple screenshot for any future patch shares, should the opportunity present itself. So it sounds like there's been a bit of positive cross pollination here!
  3. Right, you've had this thing for well over 24 hours now. Isn't it 'bout time you started you're next thread of "Help me choose my first 5 string"? 😁
  4. Yup my patch is as per my April 5th post. I'm going to guess from that you have the B1-4 and not the B1X-4 model? If that's correct then what we seem to have spotted between us this past week is that file sharing can be done with the ToneLib software for exactly the same model Zoom pedal i.e. you and Stew can download each others patches with your B1-4s but me with a B1X-4 or anyone with the B3N won't be able to i.e. we will only be able to from other B1X-4 or B3N owners separately. Bit annoying but, the fact that a) ToneLib is completely free and b) allows file-sharing in this manner at all (which the Zoom software doesn't seem to allow unless you want to upload to their website) I guess means we shouldn't complain too much! You're the only person I know who's so far worked with both software editors - what is it about ToneLib's that you prefer over Zoom's? That's something worth sharing with other folk who are thinking of going down one or other route, and I guess adds to the usefulness of us being able to file share which ToneLib provides.
  5. Hey @stewblack agreed laborious (but thanks for sharing). You and I seem to both prefer ToneLib, partly as it allows us to back up patches. The Zoom editor AFAIK doesn't allow us to back-up patches except on Zoom’s own website (cheeky monkeys, if that is indeed the case!) But when I uploaded it last week I found it does two useful things: 1) recognises all the patches you've created and uploaded onto your pedal already, and 2) provides a summary screenshot of all the individual effects, so instead of 4 screenshots for 4 effects you get everything in one (see my post from last week). Much less laborious!!
  6. Aha! What @ped referred to as 'digital noise behind the effect' which is also there on the current generation Zoom pedals (e.g. my Zoom B1X-4) and more pronounced with some of the patches (and particularly noticeable if there are high treble settings). I've concluded that this is a function of the cheaper / lower processing power on older multifx or their budget modern day counterparts, as is the quality of the sims.; the higher-end models with their more powerful chipset can be in a different league e.g. the Zoom struggles with pitch shifting, Helix handles it with aplomb.
  7. Now that's something you won't get if you buy a Sire! They don't sell spare PGs at all.
  8. Nice! Thanks for sharing that. @uk_lefty that gives you a feel of what the current batch of Zoom pedals is like with amp sims, which was your specific query. FWIW - I preferred the TE tone over the Ampeg 😊
  9. Yup I had the exact same idea and with the same result!
  10. Hey @Bafflegab would you mind uploading the ToneLib software https://tonelib.net/ (that's the one Stew and are both using and I don't think the Zoom software allows you to save your patches onto your PC for sharing in the same way). And if you have the B1-4 see if you can download Stew's patch, and if you've got the B1X-4 see if you can download either of my two patches please?
  11. Yes that might be where we are getting stuck, which is a shame as the pedals are pretty identical other than the extra wah patches on the B1X-4 You having the same issue not being able to upload my patches posted on Sunday?
  12. Is that the one from your post half an hour ago (that's the one I downloaded) or is there a newer one?
  13. Thanks Stew - did all that, but all I'm getting is the ZNR effect by itself, although it does come with the description: "('cvt_dev' patch): 2 wah effects for the price of one" I wonder if it's 'cos yours is a B1-4 and mine is a B1X-4? Could you see if this works the other way around? I uploaded a couple of patches a few posts earlier - can you see if you can import them onto your B1-4?
  14. Ok cool. I'm going to stick my neck out and, based on what you've shared so far, recommend that you get yourself a Zoom B1X-4. It's got Zoom's latest chipset (the same as in their B3N) and is a doddle to programme particularly with their free PC editing software or the free ToneLib software. Costs £73 plus P&P. It's got some really useful 'global' controls. Worst case you relegate it to being used as an (excellent) headphone amp or move it on and take a £20 hit for your troubles. The alternative is £575 or so for a used Helix LT if you want a Helix with a foot controller.
  15. You're very welcome. Did you take your BFX-708 out on the road before you got your GT10B - if so, how did you like it? FWIW, the current Zoom line up are IMO easier to edit that the Helix, a fraction of the price (particularly if you're after a built in wah pedal) but don't have the processing power and therefore the quality of the sims on the Helix. At their respective price points, they're both great pieces of kit and I have to 'fess to enjoying having both.
  16. Oooh, that does sound good. I think my Thumpinator could just have found its Terminator. Sadly doesn't currently seem to be on their website...
  17. @jrixn1what's the HPF pre you've got on your board? Looks like a decent alternative to the Thumpinator - does the dial allow you to select cut off frequency?
  18. +1 ^^ D'Addario EXL 170-5 Nickels 45 -130 - Richtone were doing a double pack for £40, but I see prices have now gone back up to £60 for their twin pack.
  19. Got it - YSC. Job done. I'll be joining you shortly in the marketing dept...😁
  20. Nooooo! You can't start referring to this as a SC - It's gonna confuse the hell out of us BF SC owners! 😁
  21. Your continued enthusiasm has been noted and I'm delighted to say you've been hired. Someone from Yahama Sales (I think he goes by the name of krispn) will be along shortly with your induction pack.
  22. Cheers and btw are you a TE fanboy? If so - please see @uk_lefty's query above on the Zoom amp sim.
