  1. Following on from our discussion a couple of days back on MIJ vs elsewhere, I received this really positive review of the BB P35 I'd recently moved on, from the guy who bought if off me: "I just want to drop you a note. The BB [P35] is an amazing instrument, I haven't had such a positive vibe from a new instrument in ages. Since getting it home I used it both in our studio as well as a dep gig and I cannot be happier. It has enough flexibility in tone to be useful in a lot of settings, but also has the sensitivity and responsiveness to touch that I often miss in active basses. Only thing I did was change the strings (I am not a D'Addario fan) and tweaked the setup a teeny bit and it feels like I have been using it for years. The neck is just perfect for me." Worth also mentioning that Mark, whom I bought the bass off, rated this as the best bass he'd ever played and was only moving it on as he needed a lighter bass for the considerable amount of gigging he's doing. The one stand out feature for me of both Mark, who is a pro bass player, and the guy I sold this same bass on to is that they are both in a league up from me in terms of how good bassists they are. I can't help but conclude that their greater skill and experience on the bass means that they will be hearing a difference in quality between a very good and an outstanding bass in a way that will simply pass me by.
  2. Right you Dutchmen, let's get this thread back on track! 😁 What a brilliant idea to audition each of the 99 presets on this YouTube clip. For those of us not inclined to spend our lives PC editing, there are going to be a dozen usable sounds for us to get our hands on straight out of the box! And having them all in one place on this YouTube clip is just a really useful reference manual in itself.
  3. I speak fluent English. And I understand Northern dialects. Although I have to 'fess I struggle with understanding WTF our Scottish lead singer is going on about half the time...😂
  4. I have three that are currently vying for my top spot. All three are fantastic basses and I count myself lucky to have them. The one I can't currently put down, however, is...a Spector Euro 5LX. The sculpted body, great neck, meaty low end and OMG, above all, that tone!!
  5. Done, thanks Peter. @Dood - how come you've not set one of these up yet, mate? You'd be right at the top of my (and many other's lists) of BC folk to be saying thank you to / wanting to support for all the effort you put in to making bass a better world to inhabit.
  6. They could be up to much worse, believe me! 😂
  7. Please post the link here and I'll sign up asap. And any others, so inclined can do the same. A promise is a promise, right?
  8. It's only his 4th. Moi, a measly third replacement FI to celebrate all the enormous hard work (and the fact that there is finally a usable manual!) you've put into v3, Peter. Which I'm going to be calling "Harry" 😁
  9. It's a tricky one. Arguably the new users would have been out of pocket and miffed if they had bought at the old prices! Same thing happened when TC slashed their prices last year. Anyone with gear they were looking to offload would have taken a hit. It happens.
  10. Euros 299 for a new FI? That's like £260 and already preloaded with the v3 firmware!! That makes it only £10 more than a Source Audio C4 and the FI, from your comments, would appear to be the more capable pedal of the two? Respect to Andras for his business tactics That's going to have chilling effect on used FI prices; but obviously good news for buyers, less good for sellers!
  11. One of us is clearly having a bad influence on the other...😁 Well there's going to be a Valeton EP2 (in vgc) coming up for sale in the near future and you're welcome to have first dibs. No idea how well it will work with the Stomp (as I'm using mine mainly with my Boss SY-1), so you're very welcome to have a try out first.
  12. @Gottastopbuyinggear - I thought @Tubster had answered my question in his previous post, but maybe you're looking for him to expand on what he meant by 'sonic authority' further? One major request from me - can we abbreviate your avatar name to GSBG please? It's almost as much as of a mouthful (but nothing really quite is) as @Quatschmacher which has been unceremoniously cut down to Q (by me anyway) - which actually is quite appropriate given his abilities to coax a silk purse out of a sow's ear FI pedal. But perhaps more importantly yours is as close to a heretical avatar name as it's possible to have without being banned from the forum 😁
  13. That's interesting. The same is not possible for videocams though, is it?
  14. @dannybuoycould I get you to elaborate on what was it about the Dunlop DVP4 you particularly liked? Also be very interested in which other ones you've tried and why the Dunlop bested them?
  15. Well he's clearly a fan of some pretty heavy duty Aggie kit and has your fav TH pedal too!
  16. Your other half is in your band? Very jealous!
  17. Finding myself with several pedals on my board that are expression pedal enabled. Currently have a budget Valeton EP2 which is a passive volume and expression pedal and is a nice intro bit of kit, but I suspect there are (significantly?) better ones out there. Be really interested to hear from you on your recommendations for an excellent expression pedal, plus any to avoid! Cheers, AK
  18. Can't argue with that! I had the pleasure of hearing and meeting the great man himself at the Jazz Cafe in Camden a little while back. Pic of his rig and pedalboard below
  19. Ah Jethro Tull, flautist extraordinaire and a matching wild eyed stare. A sound harkening back to my yoof...
  20. Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I'm going to be on the road a fair bit more for the foreseeable so I'm going have a chance to work through some of your suggestions (starting tomorrow morning!) So I'd love to hear from you if you have any updates to your previous posts on this thread or if you've not posted on here before, what your top 3 albums of all time are.
  21. PS love the pics btw, Dave and the way you've used a low f-stop to get that shallow depth of field with just the rig in focus. Nice!!
  22. Darn - that actually is one handsome rig! And having 400 watts (at 8 ohms) on tap will give the F112 the deep power drink that it thrives on.

    Boss SY-1

Small point of note which will probably be obvious to others - but wasn't to me before messing about earlier!: Anything in the SY-1 loop steps into the shoes of the clean blend. When the SY-1 is bypassed the SY-1 clean blend vol control has no impact on the loop volume, but when it's engaged you can vary the total loop volume on the SY-1 as you would the clean blend, so that gives you an additional level of control which is a nice to have.
  24. Did you? Must have missed that 😂 Personally, I really like silver finish a lot! It's super classy. The closest thing to design of an iPhone in an amp.
  25. We're completely on the same side here, mate. My view is as per the statement in brackets: "frankly I don't buy all this prejudice against not-made-in expensive territories."
