  1. My second (and last for a while, I suspect) useful contribution is this little device (for just £3 delivered), which means I never need worry about whether my battery is about to run out of juice or unnecessarily replace a perfectly good one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TJ5X3FS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
  2. @Jus Lukin the MS-60B certainly qualifies, but maybe worth considering trading for the B1-4 with it's more current chip set à la Mr bass5? Value for money counts as well as much as small for this thread and those two multifx pedals are unrivalled value for money swiss army knives! When they work, right?
  3. Thanks @Quatschmacher - I suspect none of us will get anywhere close to the quality of synth patches you've done on the FI, on the Stomp (as I'm sure @Osiris will find if / when he loads a synth effect patch on his). My Stomp synth patches have been abysmally poor in comparison (and certainly not worth sharing on here!)
  4. Nope - I think we can all rest easy! Just another attempt by EHX to extend the shelf life of their long in the tooth "9" series. IMO, as someone who has come from guitar to bass, it's about as easy to play bass on guitar with an octave pedal down as it is to play lead guitar on bass with an octave up. Neither option work particularly well and octave pedals have been around forever. I'd be happy to challenge any guitarist to play a great funk bass line on a six string Stratocaster - good luck to them (and to EHX with this pedal).
  5. What's been that small or particularly value-for-money purchase that's made a surprisingly big difference to your bass life? Inspiration for this thread from a recent little purchase: can't believe that's it taken me so long to stumble across these cable ties or that none of my bass buddies have ever suggested getting them! I think they're great and just £3.49 for a pack of 10 from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005LGBR6E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  6. Dave decided that he couldn't live without his Q\Strip and I decided I should be able to make do and mend with the EQ on my HX Stomp. Either that or he simply fancied popping round for a beer and a natter with a lot of spare cash in his wallet...either way payment was made and my board is a rather nice pedal lighter. He is, however, now contemplating getting a HX Stomp, so I don't know whether that means I'm going to have to buy the Q\Strip back off him? He's still a top guy
  7. Haha - if you're bringing amps into the mix when discussing 'pure bass' tone, then I'm going to start saying things like pedals and cabs!! And yup, tone wood / neck through would lurk at the bottom of the list of the magnificent seven: strings, pups, EQ, woods, amp, cab, pedals in terms of impact on overall sound but right at the top for impact on appearance and wow factor. And speaking of resonance, let's face it, a bass has more emotional resonance and connection with us bassists than any other single part of our signal chain - it's the one bit of kit we actually hold and play!
  8. Yup I definitely don't have 'tone wood' religion, that's for sure. My view is that pups, strings and EQ are the main tone drivers and then type of woods next in line (and likely someway behind the first three). Neck-through is supposed to give greater sustain (as well as just looking great!) and Bubinga should further aid that a touch. But it's comforting that the 'research' you've quoted ties in with and doesn't contradict what as at the back of my mind
  9. Thanks gents - if @Mastodon2 is correct that they are going to "sound broadly similar" that's actually a great starting point. I'm a bit more relaxed about Asian made basses - after all Apple make their phones in China. And Samsung, also Korean, aren't exactly a pants outfit! The one I'm looking at also has EMG HZ pups but the EMG B30 3 band preamp. I'm a bit of fan of 3 band EQs so that's a big plus. It's Bubinga so it's likely to be heavy but, combined with the neck through, should have good sustain. Provided it's 10 lbs / 4.5kg or less, then it could be a good entry point to the world of Spector basses for me. Hopefully won't have the same negative impression that the NS 2000 had on @WHUFC BASS! But worst case, as @ahpook has just posted, that could be solved with a pup upgrade, if needed.
  10. Hmmm... the Legend "Custom" I referred to is also a neck through (the "Classic" is the more budget bolt on model, I believe). Do your comments still stand when comparing with the higher end Custom version?

    Geddy Lee pedal

But isn't most of that price hike just shipping, £12 'handling charges', customs duties and 20% VAT?
  12. Have now managed to coax a response out of Fender, who have confirmed that the weight should be less than 10lbs - they said "8lbs to 10lbs" to be precise but I suspect it will be nearer the top end of the range. That, for me, is fine - it would be a very similar weight to my Yamaha BB 1025. Hmmm so a new Jackson 5 or a used Legendary Spector? Decisions... 😄
  13. Gents - if you don't mind me asking, is there much of a difference in sound / quality between the Euro 5LX and the Legend Custom 5ers?
  14. 👍 Gotta be the one of the fastest sales in BC history! 😎
  15. Damn that's tasty! Should cheer you up no end after being Man handled in the City and given a recent 5-0 drubbing. I might just have to do something similar 😁
  16. Oh no, you're adding GAS to an already explosive mix of exploding amps and cabs...
  17. ...besides everyone has missed the blindingly obvious point here: If you are pushing Paul in the direction of 3x10, why not 3x12?! That has just gotta sound awesomer; 44% more so if r2 is anything to go by. So sell your One10 and buy another SC...😁
  18. I refer you to my earlier post... If you really are intent (one way or another to misquote Ms Harry) on causing the end of life on the planet, could you be so good as to at least give us a few weeks notice?
  19. Speak of the devil... 😂
  20. So it doesn't actually work without resulting in a major melt down?! I know a chap who does good PI insurance....
  21. Delighted to restart Steve's (aka @mangotango) feedback thread; his last one having got lost in the mists of Site upgrade... Sold Steve a Squier Bass VI. He popped over to collect in person in timely fashion and we had a very enjoyable hour chatting music and bass (what else ?!) Due to his pointing out to me how good Spector Legend Custom basses are and that they are loaded with a 3 band EQ I've got a worrying premonition that my sale to Steve won't necessary result in a thinning of the herd! Super easy transaction and I'd be very happy to deal with Steve again and, being local, hopefully we we will keep in touch! Hope you enjoy the bass - and I look forward to hearing any inspired original creativity that follows!
  22. Please please don't do this, Paul, as it will cause a disruption in the space-time continuum in the Eastern Home Counties. And I don't live too far from there.
  23. The nicest BB 1100S I've seen 'in the flesh' is @bassfan's. Absolute stunner! I'm kinda glad that the early BBs are only 4 strings as that one, in particular, would have had me lusting! Am I correct in thinking that the first 5 string BB was the BB 5000 / A? Or are there also 5 string versions of the BB 2000 and 3000 series?
  24. A pair of Yamaha BB 1100s fretted and fretless both on at £250 starting prices: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-BB-1100-S-Bass-Guitar-1980/223618965836?hash=item3410baa14c:g:zOUAAOSwKe1dTujY
  25. Can't work out whether that's closer to Robbie (Forbidden Planet) or Wall-E? 😀
