  1. Been using my DG M900 for my two pub / function bands with a BF SC for the past 18 months. Standard covers from early 60s to 2010s.
  2. A quick word of thanks to @Dad3353 for just now 'refreshing' the first 8 pages of this thread, which were posted before the site upgrade.

    Boss SY-1

And btw - whilst we have already remarked that this is not 'fully' pre-settable it does have 121 fairly easy to access presets! That should be enough to keep me out of mischief 😁

    Boss SY-1

I've bitten the bullet and pre-ordered the SY-1 from PMT. Normally we get hit in the UK with $1 = £1 on US manufactured goods and it's currently even worse with the Source Audio C4 $239 in the US but £249 in the UK. I kinda wanted to get my payment in before Boss spot that they are not selling at $ parity ($199 in the US); the SY-1 is on at a relatively 'reasonable' £175 over here at the moment, but if the £ continues to slide that may not last! Taking a bit of a chance given that I've not heard any decent bass reviews of this yet, but PMT have a 14 day return for online purchases, in case it does turn out to be a dud on bass which I'm really hoping / expecting it not to be! (Sorry Woody - you're unlikely to buying this one off me used )
  5. Hah! You boys are starting to make me feel a bit hasty in being very content with my BB 1025, with its selector switch, and my recent thinking that I should move my BB P35 on...
  6. No ear plugs for sound check. But then I'm a bit of an old wuss on this and tend to follow the S.P. way, although I'll occasionally take one ear plug out to have a listen mid set following your previous suggestions on this. Just a couple of follow up thoughts: Personally - if I can't hear the bass (even with ear plugs in), frankly I don't enjoy the gig. Turning up the mids is fine up to a point, but too much and I think we would all agree it sounds crap. Adding a bit of grit cuts through the mix equally well IMO and the overall bass tone can be a better one than overbearing mids.
  7. i.e. the way I like it = personal to me (no complaints from the band or the audience). A bit of grit is sweet.

  9. +1 ^^ Defo starting to feel that the pure 'P' setting is too easily lost in the mix for me. PJ (which dear old dannyboy has been espousing for the last decade or longer, probably ever since BBs were invented in fact) seems to be increasingly where I'm landing, but maybe a P plus a touch (or more) of dirt could be the way to go, too.
  10. Here you go Tyler...our discussion prompted me to see what I could get for 'peace of mind' and without needlessly discarding perfectly usable 9V batteries (or spending ££s on a passive / active 'upgrade'). Well this 'bit of tat' which cost less than £3 from Amazon including P&P seems to be just the ticket! (They suggest swapping out when power is < 6V).
  11. Oh we did! ... the light hearted banter sadly got lost in a bunch of folk seeing red (and gold) and discussions about the unimportance of low end crud. W@eude you have believed it?
  12. Here you go. I use my Low EQ in combination with GlamComp (= Spectracomp) and Zoom Noise Reduction together to form a default 'Clean' patch. Low EQ Glam Comp ZNR
  13. Hi John, yes I have indeed! I'll dig out my settings for you and posted in the next couple of days.
  14. I had a little A/B of my 5'ers last night - I'm really happy with them all, but...the articulation of the KS is something else. I'm guessing it's simply down to a combination of the quality of the strings, pups, electronics and nut but I was finding it hard to deny the evidence of my ears! Is that something the rest of you KS owners also find when you're playing your KS alongside the rest of your herd?

    Dubs Feedback.

Sold a pedal to Ben. Pleasure to deal with: prompt payment and really good comms, including confirmation of receipt. Hope you enjoy the pedal! Cheers, Bas
  16. I've previously used a TC BG250 115 for rock band rehearsals and more recently seen a 210 used with a full jazz brass band outdoors, and the bass could easily be heard. If the rest of your band are on the louder side, I'd probably want to go for something like the Fender Rumble 500 to give myself a bit more headroom.
  17. You're quite right! Plenty of low end, for me = a) BB NE2 by itself with the very slightest of boost to the bass EQ (what the heck has the NE2 got under its bonnet?) b) Any other bass with the Mesa M6 'pull' (boosted) bass OR "Sub 3" Zvex Mastotron switch engaged. All of the above with a Thumpinator at the start of the chain. If I want to get into something like DOD Meatbox territory then doubling up on two of the above. Agree that you need a cab that can drink up low end - the Berg CN 212 and, even more, the Fearless F112 both can. @uk_lefty spoke about using this sort of sound sparingly. Absolutely. It's defo not my regular sound which, you'll be pleased to hear, typically involves a touch of bass cut and mid boost. If it was my stock sound I suspect my home would lack windows and my ears, drums.
  18. Oh I've been a lost cause for a lot more reasons than just this. Mrs Krow will happily vouch for that with or without a sponsorship deal.
  19. The EQ centre points on the Mark King are not nearly as good as that red and gold so called 'monstrosity' that Mr @fretmeister bought. But tbf Mark King probably has no idea what the centre points on his signature MB amp are... If I was getting a MB amp head it would be the 800W (or 1000W) 'fugly' red and gold one every time with plenty of head room for boosting those unpleasant low end frequencies (whilst cutting out the < 28 Hz crud using a Thumpinator).
  20. Do you think this chap had anything much to do with his signature model other than picking up a cheque? 😉
  21. Ah brand awareness. If all you saw of this rig in the distance was this, would you know who made it? Seamlessly back on topic 😂
  22. Again, genuine question, but what's the commercial rationale for making an amp where only one person's views on it matters?
  23. @eude the dude slagged off the appearance of MB amps, various of you jumped on the band wagon. I said that an amp's looks don't matter if it sounds great and, just to prove that looks are subjective, I suggested that the naysayers told us what a great looking amp looked like. They retorted the Mesa M6 and DG M900 were the best looking, at which point I realised I am surprisingly shallow as these were actually the two amp heads I currently own Oh yes, then @burno70 had the temerity to say he thought the Ashdown GB looked great (which btw it does). Then all hell broke loose (probably due to the 666W connection in the amp of doom). Again. ...😂 🤣
