  1. Oh I've been a lost cause for a lot more reasons than just this. Mrs Krow will happily vouch for that with or without a sponsorship deal.
  2. The EQ centre points on the Mark King are not nearly as good as that red and gold so called 'monstrosity' that Mr @fretmeister bought. But tbf Mark King probably has no idea what the centre points on his signature MB amp are... If I was getting a MB amp head it would be the 800W (or 1000W) 'fugly' red and gold one every time with plenty of head room for boosting those unpleasant low end frequencies (whilst cutting out the < 28 Hz crud using a Thumpinator).
  3. Do you think this chap had anything much to do with his signature model other than picking up a cheque? 😉
  4. Ah brand awareness. If all you saw of this rig in the distance was this, would you know who made it? Seamlessly back on topic 😂
  5. Again, genuine question, but what's the commercial rationale for making an amp where only one person's views on it matters?
  6. @eude the dude slagged off the appearance of MB amps, various of you jumped on the band wagon. I said that an amp's looks don't matter if it sounds great and, just to prove that looks are subjective, I suggested that the naysayers told us what a great looking amp looked like. They retorted the Mesa M6 and DG M900 were the best looking, at which point I realised I am surprisingly shallow as these were actually the two amp heads I currently own Oh yes, then @burno70 had the temerity to say he thought the Ashdown GB looked great (which btw it does). Then all hell broke loose (probably due to the 666W connection in the amp of doom). Again. ...😂 🤣
  7. PMT are retailing the GB for £829
  8. Genuinely interested in what set up you are using to get a great sounding sub bass?
  9. Haha, yes I was thinking exactly that as I edited my post... 😄
  10. Yup! 😎
  11. @EBS_freak - can't argue with any of your reply to my last post! ... except that engaging the Sub 3 (low) generator on my Zvez Mastotron + Thumpinator + "pull" (= boosted) bass on my Mesa M6, with a cab that can handle low end really well e.g. Fearless F112 produces a BIG low end that is surprisingly 'tasty', without being mushy or boomy. I'm guessing that the sub harmonics generator on the Ashdown would be doing something similar?
  12. This very attractive BB2004 went up for sale earlier today and was snapped within hours of being listed! Looking forward to finding out who the (lucky!) new owner is. Mentions in the description both 2 band EQ and 3 band EQ - I'm guessing 2 band if it has a variable mid cut similar to the NE2 given that it has overall one less knob than the NE2. It even has the sought after reverse P set up! 😍
  13. Yup quite, particularly as the subs are controllable via a footswitch. It's a bit like saying you could never use an octaver in a set to thicken up your sound. I agree with burno's comments: the Geezer does look fantastic as a piece of design. It also has a 9 band EQ + valve preamp. Same price bracket as many (quality) D class heads, including the MB amps being discussed in this thread. If Ashdown cut the weight from its current 31 lbs by removing the feature set which allows Geezer Butler to power his 12 (!!!) on stage cabinets - which is redundant for most of us mere mortal bassists, by releasing a 'Geezer Lite' then I suspect they could have a big winner on their hands. Something in this thread seems to have made EBS_freak see red. IMO there are a whole bunch of other reasons for pub bassists across the land sounding utterly cack, if indeed they do, and it has nothing to do with Ashdown's amps! 😂
  14. Darn, that is lovely!
  15. The TC BG250 210 should also tick all the boxes. Even has a built in tuner. New for just under £300, so will leave him enough spare cash for a beer or two at the college bar after his gigs
  16. Can get in packs of 30 from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0769WBZHY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you don't need that many, I have a few spare which I can send you (for free) in the post - pm me.
  17. Any particular wood best for nobs?
  18. Obviously the one thing the M900 does that this won't is provide you with the option of adding some harmonically rich dirt into the mix. But you could easily fix that with a dirt pedal of your choice.
  19. Could be fun jazzing up the amp with some different knobs.... How about one of these for starters?
  20. @obbm - maybe trouble you to comment on the above, too, please while I have your attention!
  21. Yup agreed. The Eich T1000 looks like just the ticket - single input with two separate 500W outputs each with independent volume control. Apologies for the complete thread sidetrack to the OP and a much more expensive 'solution' than you're likely looking for!
  22. The other 'simple' solution I guess is a twin channel amp.
  23. Thanks for that. The Mooer has been routing around 150W to 250W (best guess) from my 600W Mesa M6 head for a couple of weeks without breaking into a sweat so far, but maybe it's not going to last! On the plus side it wasn't getting any use from me before this so at least it's going to a glorious end... 😁
  24. Thanks for that. Two follow up Qs, if I may: - is my passive Mooer AB/Y able to handle speaker size volts, without getting fried, because it's purely acting as a passive switch in the way I have it set up? - appreciate that typically a DI out from the amp which pre/post pre amp and not post power amp is what is fed into a mixer. Have you come across any mixers or simple splitters with volume controls that are able to hand speaker size volts? Or even a simple volume control that can attenuate the output from a power amp?
  25. I currently have two speakers connected up as follows: normal amp out --> Mooer Y/AB pedal --> 2 separate cabs. I've set it up in this way for me to easily A/B the two cabs, one at a time. Doesn't seem to be causing the passive Mooer pedal any issues whatsover. The Mooer is a relatively cheap unsophisticated AB/Y pedal and doesn't have a volume control. I suspect that a Boss LS-2 could do the job here - certainly in terms of sending its output to both cabs at the same time, and also has volume controls.
