  1. This feature in particular has got my attention! No multi-fx I've come across yet on my travels has been able to come close to competing with decent filter and synth pedals. If the Mooer cracks this and is also half decent on bass and not just guitar (two BIG "if's") then this really could be the multifx to completely replace my pedal board.
  2. To answer my own Q, apparently June 16th
  3. Looking forward to this a lot! Prototype presented at NAMM Jan 2019 and finally going to be available from June 16th, according to the press release.
  4. Very cool! 😎 And I love the descending formation too!
  5. Fair enough. But I've never really found playing through the London Yammy store's Hartke 50W Combo has been the most enlightening experience, certainly in terms of the nuances of tone. Particularly with all the background store noise and not being able to play at anything other than fairly quiet volumes In fact, even at a recent rehearsal using the studio's Ashdown rig, the lush tone that my 1025 bass puts out was much less clear than when I swapped to using my own more transparent DG M900 and BF SC rig, at which point my bass player's grin was duly restored!
  6. I've not played a 2024, but I regard both my 1025 and P35 as being excellent basses. But sounds to me like you prefer the older BB range than the newer stuff - fair enough: many still hold the view that the 1200S and 2000 / 3000 / 5000 were Yamaha's finest BBs. There won't be a massive difference between the 414 and the 1024 in terms of sound; but there are a number of incremental features e.g. spline jointed body for greater strength, body through stringing, 5 piece neck, improved bridge, more refined pups, nut made of the same alloy as the frets (nickel silver) to get close to a 'zero' fret.
  7. *@xx*r !! Just when I was absolutely loving this pedal!! Upgraded my cab yesterday and have the best cab I've ever played through sitting in my basement studio. Obviously there's nothing else in the mix at home so I get to hear everything pretty well but more so than ever with the new cab. But the downside of having a great cab is that the "digital noise under the notes" that you've been bringing to our attention is suddenly obvious to me and, whilst it's going to get completely lost in a band mix, I know I'm going to find it very annoying when working on stuff at home. Zoom UK have a 60 day return period, so I should hopefully be able to get a full refund. [EDIT: although this pedal completely justifies being held on to, other than this one 'digital noise under the notes' point.] What a shame...looks like I may need to go back "up market" for a multifx, after all. HX Stomp is the obvious choice, but I wonder when Mooer are finally going to get around to getting their GE 300 out? And the large display on the Headrush Gigboard does make that appealing...
  8. @stewblackI have the BB1025 (no "X" => no PG). Lovely bass, also white like @gobasserk I've done several 2 hour gigs with it and found the neck to be very comfortable - so I guess me and Herr Basserk are not of the same view on this one. But, as with anything, good to get genuine opinions from both sides of the track! Just checked for you and mine is 9.4 lbs, so I would have expected the 1024 to be a touch lighter with a thinner neck, however the seller is indicating 10 lbs for his (maybe just down to accuracy of scales?) Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it and how it stacks up against your other basses, if the trade goes through. GLWTT
  9. Have to admit that this is still my favourite finish - not my bass btw - and not a scratch plate in sight! What it would have looked like before, below it. Was half tempted to buy back my old BB 425 which has come up in the FS just to get it re-finished in a similarly wicked way!
  10. Likewise I never picked one up until just over 2 years back and now I have four of them!! It's a slippery slope! Trouble is: 1) they are often a LOT of bass for the money (and mid range ones seem to get a lot of the benefits of the high end ones, but without the price tag); 2) that P/J set up just delivers such a delicious take on the P bass tone! A touch of growl added to P thump. Love it. Makes them hard to resist. Which model are you going for?
  11. Looking like you're a BB man through and through, then, Mr Black!
  12. Hey Simon, Welcome to basschat! And welcome also to Yammy basses! Kinda impressed you've managed to dig out this ancient thread for your first post and amused to find my mate @dave_bass5 as the last poster on it before you (he's clearly a secret Yammy lover! 😂) Glad you're really liking the new bass so far. I've heard that Cort make a pretty decent bass (I think they also make basses for Ibanez, Squier and G&L - all of whom have a lot of fans on BC); so it's good that the Yammy is proving a hit - not that I'm going to be surprised about that! Obligatory pics of the new bass required of course!
  13. I love the guy. The Beatles were the first band I was completely smitten by. But he really can't sing (well) any more and I can't remember when he last produced a decent album that was worthy of his stature.
  14. @ped Can I just congratulate you on a milestone 10,000 posts!! (and for being a great mod whom we all appreciate!) Sorry to have made you waste such an august post, by having to use it responding to me! 😁
  15. @LukeFRC so true! 😁 It doesn't necessarily have to cost the earth to sound great. I also totally love the fact that @ped has a Ken Smith bass which he pairs with a B1on. We're obviously trying to gently coax him to upgrade his Zoom and to splash out on a B1(X)-4...and he's (naturally!) trying to persuade me to get a Ken Smith. Let's see who buckles first 😂
  16. Music streaming or that youngsters of all generations have rebelled against their parents when they want to leave their mark? It's going to be totally uncool to know you're not a patch on rockers who are 30 to 40 years older than you.
  17. Haha this has got to be ultimate Lilliputian debate! To scratch plate or not scratch plate = which side of the egg should you eat from, the pointy or the flat end? I'm going to totally sit on the fence and say they can both look good! I've seen some great PGs on this thread that really add to the look and others where the unadorned finish of the bass (like the one above) looks just great!
  18. I'm actually back down to a full Trav following getting shot of my 735A last week. And I could be down to a partial Trav (heaven forbid!) if the excellent chap who wants my BB 425 as his back up bass goes ahead with the transaction when he's next up in in the Big Smoke. Any further rumours / gossip of Yammy bringing out their modern day successor to the 1200S? (Hopefully with a 5 string option).
  19. Very true. But the "new" Guns N Roses capable of filling out stadia, seem pretty thin on the ground? There comes a point when it's no longer great seeing some of the older guys parody themselves (Paul McCartney, Debbie Harry). It's a nostalgia fest with a finite shelf-life if the industry makes it difficult for new bands to break through. And free music streaming can, paradoxically, be a massive barrier to entry for new talent.
  20. Smoothhound on my home pedal board and one other small change to my rig which I'll have to thank @bassfan for pointing my nose in the right direction! Great to catch up with @NotAsGoodAsJaco who's currently after a BB NE2, in fact from another chap called Al(!) so you can imagine our confusion at the start of our chat today: "Al, are you the guy selling me a NE2", "Not likely mate!" 😂 He's also after a Yammy BB1025, which I'm also not selling, but very happy to give my fellow BCer, who was on his way to one of his 280(!) gigs this year, a plug in case anyone else is thinking of moving theirs on... This, for the avoidance of doubt, is the one that's not for sale alongside the updated rig
  21. Some dude who has got very proficient at self-publicity!
  22. Excellent cab in very good condition, with huge power handling capability at 4 ohms. Configuration: 2 x10” Neodymium drivers +1" tweeter variable tweeter control from 0 - 10. Power: 1200 Watts RMS Impedance: 4 Ohms Size: 59 cm x 50 cm x 41 cm Weight: 20 Kg / 43 lbs Freq. response: 40 Hz – 16 kHz Sensitivity: 101 dB 1W @ 1m Comes with VK fitted cover - total cost would currently be £875 new from BD Collection or happy to drive a reasonable distance to meet up half way.
  23. At the price these go for, I'm absolutely going to need to pluck up the courage to take the thing out the house and gig it, if I end up getting a second mortgage to get one of these. I've just had some ridiculously positive feedback from three Ken Smith owners today. Two are pro bassists who have moved their Smiths on, so have no reason at all to continue to be gushing about their former basses, but absolutely still are! Funnily both now either have a Yammy BB1025 or want to get one; and both would love to get their hands on a white Yammy BBNE2; so it seems to me we all have pretty similar tastes in what we love about basses...
  24. Haha - well "nerds" invented computer gaming which is way bigger than live or recorded music these days.
