So what have we concluded? I've updated the OP with what you and bass players on the US bass forum have voted for so far (a combined tally of over 600 votes!)

2019 Gear Abstinence Challenge (Updated with 'rules')

Is she the one standing next to you on the left in your profile pic? If so, suggest you both see the Doctor and get a medical note as to why you should be allowed more bass gear...π -
Are my eyes playing up, but it seems to me that those frets haven't been put on straight? Must be the camera angle. You'd have thought they would manage to use a decent ruler for the amount of money that thing cost? Hmmm... just checked it seems the fingers on my hands are a bit splayed too π

Is it just the colour that you love? Genuinely interested in what it is about the 414 that means you prefer the 414 to a 424 or 434?

New Mesa Walkabout-style high powered amp WD-800....and new cabs...

@thodrik nice review. And I particularly valued the 'warts and all' comparison you provided with the WA and M6 (which actually makes it a really helpful mini review). So cheers for that! -

Nah! Let em get on with it while you dream of having superman strength and being able to cart Ashdown 410s up rickety iron staircases with a two finger lift...π -

It seems to me that the parts of your brain need to sit down and have a good old chin wag with each other. Open and honest communication and all that... -

I'm definitely with you all part of the way on that one π So is it going to be a BF 410 or are you going to go the way of Andy and me delve into the lush darkness of a VK410? Oh dear...I seem to have side tracked another thread which is about avoiding gear with a sales pitch for Vanderkley. Lol! Ok to make amends and get things back on track: I've only bought two used pedals so far this year (at the start of Jan) and both were Bassfan's fault. -

Phew! Never thought I'd be so pleased to hear someone say that! But you're nevertheless partial to a spot Ashdown I am led to believe? Although no longer the pointy ear variety π -

Dang! Just sold a MB410 which I'm going to need to arrange to courier to NI. I'm really hoping that you would have been very uninterested in that 'cos Surrey would be a darned sight easier to have met up half way! -

I'll happily take the blame for 1) and 5) Face it the M6 would be worth getting for one third of its current "new" price in mint condition every day of the week, month, year and beyond... I'm finding it hard to believe that anyone has bought a compressor because of me!!!! Bloody hell that would be like Labour and Tory MPs sitting side by side in Parliament! π -
Sounds like a plan. Just fire them both up at the same time and off you go. And you should have no probs moving your OC-10 on if it turns out not to be for you. Fyi - I actually prefer my OC-10 to the v2 T16 I used to have (and it's not as though I didn't rate the v1 and v2 COG T16s I had - I thought pretty highly of both). I posted a review of the Valeton OC-10 in the reviews section, in case you've not seen it. From the feedback I've come across, its strengths and weaknesses are actually VERY close to the OC2 on which it's based including having less volume on pure sub oct 1 than you might like. But it's more compact and a lot less pricey than an OC2.

Shame, it was such a near miss. If only you hadn't got that Sub'n'up eh? -

HR have advised that you need to put them on a performance plan with a six monthly review. But if you list them out for us, I'm sure we'll be able to help. In fact you could even do a poll: "If money was no object which bass would you get rid of?!" That'll be a good one for the weekend π -
Haha - in your own time then As the drummer said to the bassist... π

If you're starting to frequent this thread (and not merely 'lurking' π) then you definitely need to 'fess up to being a fully paid up member of our lovely club, which you indeed are! And let's get some pics up of that latest, rather classic, BB addition to the north of the border herd (please ).

That really is a-rear (see what I did there**?) of a bass, isn't it? ** Aria in case you didn't π
-
No! Please keep one on the neck of the bass, at ALL TIMES, otherwise you'll upset some folk.
-
Is this thread still going? π We all know what the answer is now, though, right? We have a lot of wood for au naturelle White catches the light even if it's off There something dark and dandy about black π€ although there's been a late burst to catch the sunset.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha... Will someone please check who is sending messages from Andy Travis' BC account please?!

Agree with Jonathan on the OC-10 volume. I use mine with clean blend to fatten up my sound rather than for that classic solo'ed OC2 sound, so manage to maintain 'equivalent' volume that way. There's always the additional options of boosting volume via gain pedals (in my case my Keeley Bassist does this very well) or just adjusting on your bass, although I appreciate that's not something you will want to have to do often if you are kicking the thing on and off mid set!
