  1. So what are your thoughts on how your 424 is stacking up against your 1025?
  2. Ewan, guitarist and co founder of my longest-standing covers band, is also in an originals band Scotia 630 and they released their 3rd album today Forgetting Time, which I've been having a listen through today. Always find it super-impressive when any of my bandmates come up with something as creative and polished as this! Ewan particularly recommends the title track (which has some superb lyrics) Forgetting Time by Scotia630 (soundcloud.com) And also the third track, but I very much enjoyed listening to the whole album today (available via Amazon Music & Soundcloud).
  3. Midlands based amp and pedal maker, Laney, seem to be continuing their foray into bass pedals. Their BCC-T85 was launched a little while back. Has octave down, plus sub-octaves down. So far not unusual. But then it also has octave up and here's the thing that sets it apart from the herd: instead of "just" octave up, you can dial in a 5th up instead. And then add in an expression pedal input and it looks pretty cool! According to the Anderton's review - it's got pretty glitch-free tight tracking (although they don't specify how low it tracks without glitching). They're also indicating that it's polyphonic allowing you to play chords. £159 from Andertons (£149 incl. postage from Bax).
  4. You're right. I tend to stick to bass forums. Only so many hours in a day 😉
  5. Didn't a bunch of folk pre-order the £1,600 Quad Cortex mulitfx? Don't remember any angst about them doing that.
  6. I think you can open up a dispute thingy within 6 months and PayPal seem to be very consumer rather than seller focussed in their approach. I suspect the 4 months is less clandestine though. Just about all manufacturers reliant on any form of device chips, all the way up to luxury car makers, are struggling with their chip supplies at the moment - a legacy of Covid which has created a massive back-log.
  7. Just pay by PayPal. Full refund if seller doesn't deliver. Job done and risk largely disappears.
  8. Probably the single most important suggestion on Basschat. Ever. Good things come to those who wait.
  9. Ahhh, so you're not already being sponsored by them?
  10. Very nice! Just realised you weren't on the OP "wall of shame" so have added you, and also that in alphabetical order you're actually the first entry!
  11. Prompted to resurrect this thread having just seen this post from Dosi: Here's my Bass VI and board from the other day when I had a gig. If you've got any clips from your gig @Dosi Y'Anarchy - love to hear them! And anyone else able to share clips of their Bass VIs being played live would be great to hear.
  12. The bit highlighted seems to be quite a key point to me and I've heard folk say that a fair bit already when comparing the B1-4 and B3n with the B6. I guess it's tied into higher (doubled in fact) 88.2kHz sample rate. I wonder if Zoom will do the B3n -> B1-4 thing again and release a compact budget version of the B6? Something more pedalboard friendly in size would be awesome.
  13. Cheers! Definitely a BB75 according to the warranty card, but it was a bespoke spec for Frank Felix so may differ a little from "standard".
  14. @Phil StarrAh no sorry. The driver for this is for a budget second PA that can be kept by another band member so that we can do certain gigs with just one PA and no backline and I can rock up with my bass and pedal board on public transport and plug in. If the 310As could get us there as the spare PA that would be great, but they can't really handle bass in a full band. I'm hoping a pair of 312As will be able to, and there have been some very neat ideas earlier on the thread about having one on PA cab on the floor and rear facing, which would also double up as backline.
  15. A whole different world of cost and pain, haha! Aside: I'm actually leaning to the neat @Paul S solution for our main rig of using a "back line" PA with RCF Evox8. No need for IEMs, or in fact any form of monitors! Bingo! But it's not particularly "budget" hence not considering it for our spare "portable" PA set up.
  16. Cheers Phil! For the portable rig ('cos drums and PA all in one car) the ambition is no backline.
  17. Perhaps worth mentioning that if you're after a BIG sound rather than the portability compromise we're looking for, then whilst I like the sound we manage to produce with our gear as a band a lot, it's not in the same class as @bassfan's 24K crew's set up. Now that is a gloriously BIG sound!
  18. I've actually recently sold my AS 702 ASII to the drummer of one of the bands I'm in; he's pairing with 15" Proel tops and finding that it's adding value to his PA set-up for kick drum. Drummer in my other band has just been going through our RCF 310As, but I'm sure the 702 ASII's would have added considerable heft there too, probably more so.
  19. Yup totally agree, thanks Woody. Our main PA already has a RCF 702 ASII sub, so we're familiar and very much bought-into the benefits a sub can deliver. But for our back-up PA which the drummer will take along with his kit in a not massive car, compact, albeit combined with decent quality sound output, is the key concern for us here. Asking him to get a new car is not an option 😁 @Tubster are you not getting any feedback by having one PA speaker effectively as rear wall facing backline?
  20. Seems to me that you fellas are both making the same really key point. Was worth starting this thread just to get this particular pearl of wisdom! So with just 2x12" PA speakers (and no sub) as the entire rig: - use one PA speaker, effectively as backline but rear facing; - the other front facing on a pole as normal; => get floor / wall sonic reinforcement => avoid feedback from mics due to rear facing PA speaker => bass and drummer get to hear the kick drum and bass much better
  21. Yeah, but I'd hope there should be plenty of RMS wattage left over. I mean, a guitar should only need 30W of the 800W RMS a pair of 312As are capable of putting out, so it's essentially down to how much power is needed for the vocals and kick drum. But at the end of the day, if it's purely an RMS wattage issue we can go for higher powered units.
  22. This is what confuses me: there's a massive "FRFR" thread where bass players swear by a single 12" PA speaker being perfectly adequate as their sole backline without a sub. So it would seem logical that that two 12" PA speakers of similar power and frequency response range should cover low end needs more than adequately?
  23. Cheers Bill. Should RCF 312As cut it, based on their spec in your opinion / experience or are we realistically going to need to go north of that in terms of spend?
  24. Yup, it does look like a really good piece of kit and very good value too.
