  1. @thebassist - just seen your wanted ad for an Eich BC112 Pro and also stumbled on this thread from a few months back. I'm actually on the look out for a very portable bass combo for when I need to be using public transport around London and the Eich is on my shortlist together the MB CMD 121P. The new GR AT stuff does look good on paper, but I'm aware it's not the sturdiest of construction from my own experience and I wouldn't be confident of taking it anywhere to gig other than in my own car. Be really interested in a bit more detail on why you felt the Eich trumped the GR?
  2. Agreed. @bass_dinger you're going to have to try a lot harder than that to get out. You're certainly not licked yet 😁
  3. Nah - certainly not all on at the same time, haha! That pic with the pedals lit up was just photoshoot purposes and to show some of fx that are available as and when I need them. There's several more that I use from time to time on the B1-4 e.g. chorus, Z-synth, tape-echo, "Motown" EQ. I very rarely have more than one drive engaged at any one time, but may layer them with a presence setting on the VTDI which works well if you want to cut-through rather than sit in the mix. And the VTDI settings, more generally, will be tailored to the bass being used and the flavour desired: ranging from Ampegy to increased presence to tube dirt. As you know, it's a very flexible pre-amp and understandably still one of Tech21's all time favs. What's your pedal board looking like these days?
  4. Signal chain: Boss OC5 --> Pigtronix Octava --> Boss SY-200 --> Zoom B1-4 --> 3 Leaf Proton --> Thumpinator HPF (under the board)--> Tech 21 VTDI. All powered by a HB Iso5 Pro. This update got a big thumbs up from our band’s guitarist! 😊 I've replaced my Future Impact mono-synth pedal, with its cool bass synth sounds, with a polyphonic Boss SY-200 synth pedal. Whilst not quite so lush as the FI the SY-200, being poly, tracks more tightly and with less latency; a more winning combination IMO for a band-mix particularly on faster / busier bass lines.
  5. Very honest of you Lozz to admit that! And I suspect you weren't the only one on here to do so!
  6. The amusing thing about Mike Flowers' cover is, given it's retro take on the track, a lot of people assumed it was the original!
  7. That's a great observation. I'd never really considered Blondie to be an outstanding covers band, but they absolutely were!
  8. Atomic Kitten went to #1 in the UK in 2002 with their cover of the "Tide is high". But most of us would agree that the original by Blondie in 1980, which topped the charts in both the USA and UK was better, right? Well yes and no - the Blondie version was defo better. But it was also a cover which I'll have to fess, as a teenager a little bit smitten with Debbie Harry, I certainly hadn't spotted, haha! Blondie's cover certainly trounces the 1967 original by the Paragons. But all credit to the Paragons for writing such a catchy tune that was still topping the charts 35 years later.
  9. So what are your thoughts on how your 424 is stacking up against your 1025?
  10. Amazing! Have a fantastic time!
  11. Ewan, guitarist and co founder of my longest-standing covers band, is also in an originals band Scotia 630 and they released their 3rd album today Forgetting Time, which I've been having a listen through today. Always find it super-impressive when any of my bandmates come up with something as creative and polished as this! Ewan particularly recommends the title track (which has some superb lyrics) Forgetting Time by Scotia630 (soundcloud.com) And also the third track, but I very much enjoyed listening to the whole album today (available via Amazon Music & Soundcloud).
  12. Midlands based amp and pedal maker, Laney, seem to be continuing their foray into bass pedals. Their BCC-T85 was launched a little while back. Has octave down, plus sub-octaves down. So far not unusual. But then it also has octave up and here's the thing that sets it apart from the herd: instead of "just" octave up, you can dial in a 5th up instead. And then add in an expression pedal input and it looks pretty cool! According to the Anderton's review - it's got pretty glitch-free tight tracking (although they don't specify how low it tracks without glitching). They're also indicating that it's polyphonic allowing you to play chords. £159 from Andertons (£149 incl. postage from Bax).
  13. You're right. I tend to stick to bass forums. Only so many hours in a day 😉
  14. Didn't a bunch of folk pre-order the £1,600 Quad Cortex mulitfx? Don't remember any angst about them doing that.
  15. I think you can open up a dispute thingy within 6 months and PayPal seem to be very consumer rather than seller focussed in their approach. I suspect the 4 months is less clandestine though. Just about all manufacturers reliant on any form of device chips, all the way up to luxury car makers, are struggling with their chip supplies at the moment - a legacy of Covid which has created a massive back-log.
  16. Just pay by PayPal. Full refund if seller doesn't deliver. Job done and risk largely disappears.
  17. Probably the single most important suggestion on Basschat. Ever. Good things come to those who wait.
  18. Ahhh, so you're not already being sponsored by them?
  19. Very nice! Just realised you weren't on the OP "wall of shame" so have added you, and also that in alphabetical order you're actually the first entry!
  20. Prompted to resurrect this thread having just seen this post from Dosi: Here's my Bass VI and board from the other day when I had a gig. If you've got any clips from your gig @Dosi Y'Anarchy - love to hear them! And anyone else able to share clips of their Bass VIs being played live would be great to hear.
  21. The bit highlighted seems to be quite a key point to me and I've heard folk say that a fair bit already when comparing the B1-4 and B3n with the B6. I guess it's tied into higher (doubled in fact) 88.2kHz sample rate. I wonder if Zoom will do the B3n -> B1-4 thing again and release a compact budget version of the B6? Something more pedalboard friendly in size would be awesome.
  22. Cheers! Definitely a BB75 according to the warranty card, but it was a bespoke spec for Frank Felix so may differ a little from "standard".
  23. @Phil StarrAh no sorry. The driver for this is for a budget second PA that can be kept by another band member so that we can do certain gigs with just one PA and no backline and I can rock up with my bass and pedal board on public transport and plug in. If the 310As could get us there as the spare PA that would be great, but they can't really handle bass in a full band. I'm hoping a pair of 312As will be able to, and there have been some very neat ideas earlier on the thread about having one on PA cab on the floor and rear facing, which would also double up as backline.
  24. A whole different world of cost and pain, haha! Aside: I'm actually leaning to the neat @Paul S solution for our main rig of using a "back line" PA with RCF Evox8. No need for IEMs, or in fact any form of monitors! Bingo! But it's not particularly "budget" hence not considering it for our spare "portable" PA set up.
  25. Cheers Phil! For the portable rig ('cos drums and PA all in one car) the ambition is no backline.
