Those would both be very good choices (I've got the AO 900). In which case you also get a freebie compressor thrown in with the v2, if you want to use, and the amps have hpfs built in as standard which is neat in terms of removing boominess. All in all a quality package in a good looking design.

The clean on a DG amp is very "clean" with excellent EQ versatility. And oodles of power in the 900 series. They do also include a DG dirt in the preamp (B3K + VMT or AO), which you might feel a bit of a waste though, if that is not your thing.

Aha thanks - just before Maude's sorcery with his pup reversal, which is probably why I didn't clock it (ya know no pics etc vs something sexy going on immediately below!). @andy67 - my bad, I was getting confused between Muzz's 414 (which is "un-souped", but looks great) and Maude's souped up 424X (and also looks great!) π

Your board is looking good! Agreed about the one-way scroll particularly for live work. However if you're using it for just 2 or 3 fx then no biggie as you can load those in order in blocks of 2 or 3 and then simply cycle through on the MS-60B You've obviously also got on the B1-4: - 50 vs 26 patches you can load up; - a much easier interface; - global EQ and vol; - drum machine and headphone-out / aux in for home practice; - 5 vs 4 fx per patch; - basic looper. But not sure how many of those additional features you'll particularly be wanting?

Wot...this one?? No matter...I'm sure it's a great bass whichever model you've got! π
-
It's a souped-up 414! π Story behind it is a few pages back.
-
That's because you've not yet had a Proton Mk4, right? π
-
Somehow I'd not clocked that you had got yourself another BB, Gav! Which model?

PSA: Gallien Krueger Legacy 500 cheap! 1 only....
Al Krow replied to fretmeister's topic in Amps and Cabs
Β£489? For the Β£10 less you could get a brand new TC RH750 with several hundred free TC watts thrown in! This from TC about the sister amp, the RH450... "While a conventional amp shows higher peaks but also deeper valleys, our amp excels in a high average power output over time, by controlling peaks and pulling up the nitty gritty signals... In our subjective tests, this exact point clearly mattered more to bass players than the short term peaks. With these findings in mind we felt that a regular RMS power rating would never be able to express how the RH450 performs for bass players, hence we felt that it would be a more correct representation to rate the amp by its bass performance capabilities as opposed to the bench capabilities." Not sure how the GK could possibly compete? Sorry, that was a complete random thread diversion. As you were... π -
Boss OC-5 has a decent octave up + superb octave down + sub octave; all of which can be engaged simultaneously if you want. More organic / less tinny than some of the competition. Get's my vote!

@MJJS I wonder if that's a typo on that particular web page? If you click on your original link - it's coming up at the much more expected price of Β£479 with 1 in stock and immediate delivery.

Maybe count yourself lucky her initials weren't BB then! π
-
So, we're agreed, a Smith then? According to Scott "this bass is really, really special, not only because it sounds insane and plays like a dream [note: not butter], but also because of its history..." He must, of course, be referring to the fact that it had previously been owned by our one and only @ped, right?
-
Congratulations on the new bass! One itch well and truly scratched for you π
-
I was thinking exactly point (1) about your basses...surely he doesn't have them long enough under his roof to actually gig all of them?! π (2) she's got a point π Get yourself a Ken Smith. And apparently, according to some, you might as well get an ACG as a Wal. But can that really be true? Please note it is the JOB of all kids to not think their parents are cool. It's in the Kid's job spec, clause 1.1.

You and me, both mate! Weirdly that's almost exactly the same weight as I currently am, but I could do with shedding a few more lbs yet...
-
I've found that my basses have absolutely nothing to fear from my belts when I have one of these for "protection" π
-
Know where you're coming from - although plenty of our fellow BC'ers are not in bands and still happily managing to play their basses and getting a lot of pleasure from doing so. But not playing a quality musical instrument at all (whether at home, band rehearsals or at gigs) would be a shame.
-
Would you both gig a BBPH? Must admit I'd be worried about getting it damaged ie it would end up as more of a collector's item and get home use only from me, not that there's anything necessarily wrong with that. Case in point is my BB 2005 which has already had two full band rehearsals and a gig under its belt in the two weeks I've had it (and I'm loving it!) which is three more outings than I managed with my NE2 while I had the privilege of owning it.

Loved this quote about the B1-4! Welcome to the owner's club @bassman7755 and help yourself to any of the patches on the OP which can be accessed via ToneLib Zoom

You're very welcome to pop over and try one out with mine, any time.
-
Hmmm...did someone say "cheap Zoom multi"? Not sure any 1 has recommended something like that B4 π

The MS-60B was the very first bass pedal I ever bought when they first came out in 2013! If you ever find that the interface feels a bit like a PITA then its cheaper more up to date sibling, the B1-4, is well worth checking out.
