  1. I agree. Whilst I do enjoy some of the more intricate funky stuff, there is a lack of good old rock/metal/alternative. A lot of big players in that world of music are very interesting and have some cool intricate bass lines. Example - Matt Freeman - Rancid.
  2. Personally I don't like the way SBL constantly markets in an aggressive manner. I never signed up to payments but I signed up by email and decided the emails were annoying me so I unsubscribed. He is very talented but I wouldn't want him to teach me.
  3. I'd encourage Ashdown to give us their stance on the pedals....I assume they are made in the UK for £250 + (custom shop?).
  4. Yeah....I agree. Nathan is a great player....on guitar and bass....but something just doesn't work in terms of wowwing me with things....
  5. Do Cort make the new Markbass basses?
  6. To be honest, bass players like a nice fuzz pedal that's very flexible, and yes, compressors are useful to us, but I'm not sure those compressors are demo'd correctly or are necessary. They could have worked with a niche boutique fuzz builder/collaborated and come up with something awesome fuzz wise. Maybe with Thorpyfx.
  7. Exactly....
  8. By the way, I've seen full on puncture holes (very small ones) in many brand new old school style cases, normally Fender. Some of them are actual manufacturer holes (G&G cases can have these) for the tolex application, or so I'm told.
  9. I honestly can't believe they sent you the same knackered case out like that. If it were my business I'd be embarrassed, write the costs of it off, refund you and let you keep it.
  10. Mine are all in their hardcases / gig bags and stood upright.
  11. Aw sorry man...still not working correctly?
  12. Makes total sense. I remember when the Shuttles were extremely popular and you guys at Genz said please don't use WD40 in this way! I never will after that advice.
  13. Well yes, but you can get vastly different types of P tones from it depending on how you play it...IMO.
  14. Both are clearly towards the top of the lightweight high powered bass amp market. I'd love to try both to be honest. I'd also like to see what Genzler have in their plans....
  15. A simple test would be a normal American Standard/half decent Fender Precision. Normal roundwound strings. Pretty standard amp/cab setup. Ask around 10 people to play it, and listen how different it sounds. Some people will play it aggressively with a plectrum, and you'll get all the grind and noise from the attack. Some people will roll the tone down and play it with fingers and get more of a traditional vibe. Some may even slap it!
  16. There is a simple way of dealing with this. Cut out the middlemen/women so that the amps/cabs/pedals actually sell pretty well in the UK etc. I am pretty certain that TC Electronics decided to go directly to shops which resulted in a drop in prices. This was maybe late summer 2018. I understand they cover warranties, but surely the cheapest/easiest way to do this is for Mesa/any other brand to just get in touch with a well known repair hub and say they will be their repair centre and work out the basics. No need to 'store' gear and deal with things at a middleman/middlewoman dealer. It's adding costs. It is 2019; communication is possible for free via video call...we can ship things securely, etc.
  17. Stingray Pino P Bass Xotic Jazz Out of all of the Jazz style basses, they all sounded similar, but the Xotic just seemed to edge it. Could be the strings though. I DID like the sound of the MTDs but I would not spend £5k on a bass... The Dingwall Lee Sklar was also pretty awesome. The Ken Smith and Fodera basses didn't wow me at all.
  18. What exactly does a distributor do in 2019?! Stores products and redirects repairs?
  19. They make lovely looking instruments, but as far as I know, they are made in Korea (?!) then shipped to Germany (?) for inspection. You are paying a LOT for a Korean built guitar (they make great guitars btw, but the prices are usually £600-£1000).
  20. Unfortunately, I am not shocked about Dawsons. Shame.....but you could see these stores closing a long time ago. The Altrincham one is only down the road from me at the moment....might pop in.
  21. How about just selling direct to stores...because the old style distributor model doesn't work if you ask me. I'd love to own one of these amps but unfortunately it is extremely expensive in the UK. Massive shame.
  22. They might be phasing the whole line out now...it's been some years since that setup came out. I still like these amps and cabs...the 2x12 at that price is a bargain.
  23. Very sad news. RIP
