Is a new mass-produced bass ever worth more than £1500
Musicman20 replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
I've said this elsewhere.... The UK in particular is reaching insanity with it's pricing. Import Sterlings are now reaching £1500! https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/search/?Query=musicman+bass It is worth considering that only 8 ish years ago you could get a USA Musicman Bongo HH for £1400-1500, a Stingray H for £1200-1400 and a Classic Stingray H for £1500. At some point surely people just WILL NOT be able buy. Fender and Gibson are doing the same. -

I still absolutely lovely my Streamliner 900 and Shuttlemax 9.2 - great choice on the 12.2

I was looking at these amps and they certainly look very interesting. However, I think it is acceptable for customers to discuss their amps 'issues' over a forum and this should not cause issue with a manufacturer. If this forum/discussion didn't exist, think of all the amps that would not have been purchased. In addition, sorry but the below is wrong with the all tube amps I have tried. "With tube amp your gain is your volume knob and volume knob is your "overdrive level" if that make sense. " I used to own an Orange AD200 and cranking the gain but lowering the overall volume produced an absolutely fantastic overdriven tone.

I absolutely love the Xotic basses. Also, their guitar pedals are superb! -
Suggest non-MusicMan basses with growly MM-like alter-ego's?
Musicman20 replied to Jolltax's topic in Bass Guitars
Nothing sounds quite like a proper Musicman, and I've tried a fair few. I'd look out for a HH or HS second hand Stingray. Also, as soon as that pickup is away from the sweet spot it loses that Ray sound. -
The right decision. At the current prices it needs to be WAY better than that.

https://www.guitarplayer.com/news/fender-posts-record-breaking-sales-in-2020 I agree that the prices are now FAR too high for an American Pro (is it II now?) Fender got greedy. Simple as. The lull in the market is coming so I hope they have all prepared for it!

The weight on this new one is insane! Impressive.

One of my close friends decided to go modern/fairly lightweight and was very interested in a modern Mesa bass amp. Sadly they haven't been available here so he went with Darkglass. I still would like to try a new Mesa.

I've seen some amazing guitar cabs by them recently. I think I might go for one in the future. Hopefully they will respond!

MM 35th Anniversary StingRay5 - and no more hard cases
Musicman20 replied to a topic in Bass Guitars
The cases look alright to me. I like the Mono bags. They will save a fortune on shipping costs no doubt. -
I think I tried 3-4 Lakland basses in the past, and all of them had issue like this. Looked completely rushed. Definitely send it back.

I'd try the new Source Audio Atlas. They really do know their bass-related effects/

Always a Stingray. If I had a choice to spec one, I'd go for sparkly sherwood green, dark dark dark rosewood board, tort binding, tort guard, probably a HH or HS, with a totally passive option and normal 3EQ option. 4 and 5 string version. The 5 with a birdseye maple neck and fretboard. After that, 4 string P bass, sunburst, tort, rosewood. Done.

Must admit that looks damn cool. I think these will do well.

New Bass and Multi Pedal - My wait is finally over
Musicman20 replied to bouvier's topic in Bass Guitars
That is might impressive, more so the pedal board! I hear JAM pedals make some damn fine gear. -
If I need a new bass amp i'll be getting a Genzler.

I actually think that sounds fantastic. Full, gritty and aggressive. Way better than some of that Lobster guys really high end Jazz-like basses that sound a bit....too polite. If there is one thing about Musicman I always rely on, its that they REALLY know how to make a pickup.

Lobster discovers Fender / Gretsch are telling porkies about spec
Musicman20 replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
This exactly. -
That's lovely! As mentioned in the other thread it's more like two P bass pickups!? Edit - this was in response to the other thread! DOH
