Sounds like he is, sadly, a bit of a con-man! Glad you got your money back.

For Ampeg, those cabs are exceptionally light.
-
Yamaha don't normally mess about; usually they go to town on reliability and build quality. This might be a good move for them.

For anyone impatiently waiting for the new Vintera II basses...

The Oly White/Tort 60s P Bass - looks like my first 'proper' bass - Fender MIJ P Bass 60s....I miss that thing. This is the first bass I've liked the look of in a long time! -
That is just pure annoyance! ☹️

Fender limited edition Mike Kerr Jaguar...Tiger's Blood Orange!
Musicman20 replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
Just heard a few more demos of this. More QC issues and the pickups sound so weak and flat. -
I wish. 42.

I can't think of anything worse than a silent stage. All of the fun/sound just in your ears with no omppph....not for me. As one of the biggest bands on the planet, they can do what they want, and I'd be just as ridiculous for fun. Probably 4 x Aguilar 412DB cabs.

Fender limited edition Mike Kerr Jaguar...Tiger's Blood Orange!
Musicman20 replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
There is a chap, Phil McKnight, who discusses these type of issues on his podcast/youtube channel. He worked in retail for many years as an owner of a guitar store. I agree with him that many guitar brands are going for 'limited edition' more and more in 2023 as a marketing tool. Yes, they may well be limited runs, but the reason for it is to create a false sense of urgency...they could make more, but they don't so they'll sell the batch fast. -

Unfortunately it's more true in recent years with how big brands market their gear. -

May have been covered but is it USA or Mexico made? EDIT - MIM - Not that they are in any way bad instruments, but wow, that price with a soft bag.... -
Genz Benz / Genzler - fantastic amps. In a way, unless you go for modelling into monitors, I don't think tech has moved much further since the later Genz amps/current Genzler amps.
-
I understand why they did this, but seems a bit late in the game. I was hoping for something that was a brand new design.
-
I've heard that Mesa are planning to have products in Europe/UK by 'Summer'....which could be the next 3-4 months.... If I buy a new bass amp, it'll be Mesa or Genzler.
-
I think it became too much of a 'let's get that clanky darkglass distorted tone' on the bass on a lot of metal/heavier music. I still prefer the Tech 21 pedals.

FENDER MIJ LIMITED INTERNATIONAL COLOR PRECISION BASS
Musicman20 replied to soulstar89's topic in Bass Guitars
That's a high price! -
Ray 5 HS if I had to pick just one.

Probably the most dull NAMM! I doubt it will exist how it does in the next 3-4 years. There is just no need for all that expense now. The videos I've seen seem to show it is quiet with mostly Youtube influencers gathering to try get content. They may as well bin it off.

John Taylor is a fantastic bassist. Are these the Combustion MIC range?

Is a new mass-produced bass ever worth more than £1500
Musicman20 replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
I've said this elsewhere.... The UK in particular is reaching insanity with it's pricing. Import Sterlings are now reaching £1500! https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/search/?Query=musicman+bass It is worth considering that only 8 ish years ago you could get a USA Musicman Bongo HH for £1400-1500, a Stingray H for £1200-1400 and a Classic Stingray H for £1500. At some point surely people just WILL NOT be able buy. Fender and Gibson are doing the same. -

I still absolutely lovely my Streamliner 900 and Shuttlemax 9.2 - great choice on the 12.2

I was looking at these amps and they certainly look very interesting. However, I think it is acceptable for customers to discuss their amps 'issues' over a forum and this should not cause issue with a manufacturer. If this forum/discussion didn't exist, think of all the amps that would not have been purchased. In addition, sorry but the below is wrong with the all tube amps I have tried. "With tube amp your gain is your volume knob and volume knob is your "overdrive level" if that make sense. " I used to own an Orange AD200 and cranking the gain but lowering the overall volume produced an absolutely fantastic overdriven tone.

I absolutely love the Xotic basses. Also, their guitar pedals are superb!
