1. Good luck with sorting this out. Every basschat member ive dealth with has been 100% genuine and decent. But, obviously someone has shamed our good name!
2.
I bought a Fender Jazz on-line from Sounds Live a couple of months ago. Although it was in completely as-new condition the neck pocket had a very big gap between body and neck (over 1mm) which I found unacceptable. They took it back and paid postage costs and offered a replacement (which I turned down due to similar neck pocket issue, revealed on photos they sent to me). They then refunded in full. Apparently this is their standard returns policy and I sort of assume (or at least hope) that this applies to many other reputable on-line retailers. If you email your retailer photos I do not see how they can refuse to replace/refund as they have entered into a contract with you to supply a new instrument (which yours palpably is not). The emails can then be used as documentary evidence should a dispute arise (otherwise they could claim disingenuously that you caused the damage/gunk). Good luck
I remember you telling me about these two basses. Im steering clear of getting those! 2 bad neck pockets is just silly; but im glad they were so good with the refund. Soundslive seem like nice guys.
3. Even though im only 28, (only he says!) I really like the classics: Sunburst Olympic White, (and the really aged white) Natural (more so when I was younger) Black I have yet to own surf green/sonic light blue....but I really like these colours. Tort Plates....now we are talking. I do not like: Red Gothic all black basses Ridiculous over the top colour schemes Im glad we all like different colours. It would be drab if we all liked the same.
4. Interesting basses, heard nothing but good things. I must be riff raff! The whole style just doesnt do it for me. Quite cool none the less. £3.2K is far too much for a starting point.
5. Potentially sold, depending on the usual. If not, will be back up EDIT - BACK UP FOR SALE!
6. I dont know much about the old Orange amps...but no doubt its worth a fair bit. Much more boutique and collectable. Marhsall is just everyday and 'meh'.
7. Late night bump....had a LOT of interest....
8. Aggies 2x12 or 4x12...DBs
9. I think I have to agree now. I play in very hot clubs normally, so I think a mega thin neck might be problematic. Ive seen a Geddy for £679, and an American Standard for £799.....might not be able to get it dead on £799, but for the fact you get a proper case, and all the other great upgrades kinda stops the GAS for 70s pickup spacing and block inlays...(wish they were real inlays!) Cheers for the advice. American Series P or J it is.
10. Im selling my MIJ Precision and going for another USA P or Jazz...im leaning towards the Jazz. But....what advantages would a Geddy Lee have over the American Series? They are quite close in price now. Ive seen the new Jazzes for £799-£830 for a straight colour, and the Geddy for about £700 ish. Anyone want to comment? I heard a Geddy Lee the other day....through a standard cab/amp....wow....the tone cuts RIGHT through. I just wanted to know what the build quality is like.
11.
OOooooo errrr that sounds fun. I'd love a noddle on OTPJs Status stealth....
+1...althought ill probably have moved down south when we get round to organising one.
12.
Great! How long till the JO5 arrives..?
Probably looking at a fair wait....just builds the excitement The shipment to the UK is in 3-4 weeks, then shipping, then checking it over, getting it to BM, then me picking it up. Probably heading into December...but then its like an early Xmas present I'll get some pics up when it arrives. I received my Aguilar Tone Hammer on Friday....brilliant bit of kit. I figured thats best for me instead of an onboard, plus I really like using DI's at gigs were the bass cabs are hopeless.
13. If this is anything like the Bergantino HS410, then it will be stunning. I can also vouch for the DB212s! Quite a rare cabinet in the UK as most go for the DB112 x 2 setup, but after I thought about it, the DB212 is lighter, has casters, and I could add another cab to make it VERY loud. Good luck
14.
The volume difference between 450W and 600W is at the margins of audibility in a real world situation.
Oh no I agree and depending on the amp they can sound much louder even if they have less wattage. It more the headroom Id want on a solid state micro, thats all.
15.
How many more watts are you after? You could also link 2 heads if you wanted to. Cheers, Steve
I think the amps are very well made, and provide a lot of options. The only thing is, for the price, (and I realise it has a lot built into it) 450Watts for micro head now is near the lower end. The Little Mark 3 might be much simpler but it puts out a healthy wattage, and is rated at 500W. Shuttle 6.0 is sorta 600W..... Shuttle 9.0 is 900W.... Dont get me wrong, Id like a TC Amp, Id just like one thats say 600-700W.
16.
Thing is you're looking at half the power for not much less money if you go the Orange route, less control too. Having said that, don't Laney do a 400watt all valve bass head for around the same money, if not a bit less?
The Orange is basically plug in and enjoy...it sounds good with no tweaking...much like my LM3 actually. Im all for simplicity, if it sounds bad, tweaking wont help that much. The 200W valve power is very loud and musical. I believe Matamp/Orange do the 200W heads to get the sweet spot at lower volumes. Just my 2p
17.
my offer still stands if your feeling adventurous
Thanks dude, but im hoping to replace this with another USA P. So cash is best for me.
18. At this price itd be Matamp/Orange....no doubt about it.
19. Well, after people mentioned it before, its actually true, the Shuttle 3.0/6.0 was given less low end compared to the Shuttle 9.0 because they were made especially for smaller cabinets, hence they didnt want to have people damaging speakers. That would clear up the whole issue about ithe 6.0 lacking the ummmphhh the other micro heads have. Shuttle 9.0 seems absolutely fantastic: http://genzbenz.com/?fa=shuttle9 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqancBS121M
20. If they make a higher wattage version i'd be interested. The TC I tested was excellent, very well built. I just want a few extra watts.
21. Im biased....match it with some Orange AD200b Mk3 + Aguilar cabs, or Orange cabs. Fat and bloody loud. Oh, and dirty as hell.
22. Well guys, I’ve taken the plunge! Just ordered a new Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 5, in 3 Tone Sunburst with a rosewood board. It comes with the Aged White plate, and I’ve also ordered a spare Tort plate to make the rosewood look even nicer. After many emails, and some excellent customer service, Dan @ Lakland has reserved me their lowest weight JO5 in that spec. I have to say, their responses are so quick, and they answer anything! I’ve gone through the Bass Merchant once again, and Darren has been extremely patient and helpful with my masses of emails! Also, to top it off, I have a new Aguilar Tone Hammer coming through the post. The pre-amp, brilliant dirt and fantastic DI will give me everything I need, and will add that little ‘ummmph’ to my passive basses if they need it. GAS for basses? Not anymore, apart from possibly selling my MIJ P Bass and getting another USA P 08/09 in Olympic white/tort guard/rosewood board. I am still after the Shuttle 9.0…definitely. Then Im done!
