1. I have a 2005 US standard jazz, plays like a dream and looks just as good (burst/tort), can't fault it in any way.
2. Thanks to Moody for the organisation, and nice to meet you guys yesterday. Some really nice gear there too, and +1 on the Markbass, I feel some GAS coming on. Steve
3.
Isnt that a bit self deprocating? (AFWIW I think your a pretty good player!) I'd only been playing 8 months from scratch when I bought my 1st PRS. Its has me inspried to pick it up and play it every day (nearly 2 years later), irrespective of how I feel, all other basses I come across are judged by that one as a yardstick. I cannot think of, and have yet to come across a better commercially available bass. Using your analogy above I should still be using my Yamaha RBX 170, as I'm not a pro or even semi pro, therefore why should I have a pro instrument...... AFAIC any bass should sit there and scream at you.... "play me" if it doesnt, it doesnt matter if cost £3 or £3000 its no good for you unless you are a collector in which case different rules apply.
There are lots of untalented musos around playing hideously expensive kit (not just basses), just becoz it has this or that "designer" name, and I have always bean a fenderhead, so the jazz is probably the best bass I have played and it suits me. (not wishing to be a snob of course).
4. So long as the date doesn't clash with holidays or anything I may well be up for that. Lots of family in the area so I can tie it up with letting her indoors visit the rellys. Steve
5. I use a bass that suits my talent, so I could never ever justify paying a four figure sum for a bass - I ain't that good, so I have my Jazz, which is still better than I can justify but helps me strive to be better, and my cheapie fretless which actually sounds great for something that cost virtually nothing. I guess the next purchase would be a "proper" fretless jazz, but that can wait a while.
6. "Promises" by Clapton might fit the bill.
7. There is a fairly extensive thread on here somewhere about this. I replied putting my own conditions on the gig, telling him where to send the money etc, and he disappeared. A bit like tBBC though, I do like to have a little game with these, so long as they can't find out who you are.
8. J bcoz of the slim neck, but a P with a Jazz neck (Like the Squiers) would be good.
9. This is exactly like my Jazz, I would feel the same if I lost her.
10. Knocking on heaven's door - enjoyed learning that.
11.
Hey Steve, his names not Rick is it? If it's the guy I'm thinking of there's a silent P at the start of his name. Pete.
Hi Pete That's him. A bit full of himself. Sorry I missed last week, I am not up this week but should be back the week after (going to France this week to sort my land out). See ya next week. Steve
12. Hi All I was at a jam night recently, and after everyone was set up and ready the guit***** started tuning up, and taking ages over it. Not surprising really as it can be a noisy place. I offered to let him use my tuner, upon which he looked at me as if I had crawled out from under a convenient stone, and told me he didn't trust the things. To be fair to him, he is a pretty fair guitarist, just a cr** singer. My tuning as always been spot on (my issue is disobedient fingers). What does everbody think - love them or hate them?? Steve
13. I don't have the biggest hands, so I use every finger I can get.
14.
Nah can't make it sorry - too close to my wedding .
So when is the big day?? - Where and what time and have you sent an invite to every BCer??
15.
Mewsie and I? Is this based on our apparent inability to identify an iron in a line-up of small household electrical appliances?
Yep
16.
it would be extreme to actually catch me doing ironing! x
You two are very much alike

21. Hi All Not much I can add to all this, great day, blessed with nice weather so we could rest our ears from time to time. Thanks to Lukeward for the explanation of the bass pod (way too advanced for me), Mart for sarnies, Rog for letting me have a go on the upright, and everyone else for great company and a great time. I promised someone that I would let him have some web addresses from where jazz chord charts could be downloaded, and I hate to say that I have forgotten among the sea of faces who it was. Let me know if it was you, I'll PM them over. Steve
