Mariner72 started following SOLD Squier Classic Vibe 60s Precision , Fender Mustang Bass Hard Case , SKB 1SKB-44RW hardshell case? and 3 others

Does anybody know if I can get a short scale hard case for one of these. Pretty sure a standard guitar case e.g. for a strat will be too small.

It's a like armour plating, such good quality. I have the keys for the lock but the combination has been long forgotten. Does anybody know how the reset the TSA 007 combination lock. On the reverse of the lock is a panel which can be unscrewed. I'm wondering if there is a re set mechanism behind the cover. I can't find anything on the Web to help

I'm in shock this morning. Last night I snapped a flatwound string. Five years old, strung on my well set up Guild Starfire bass (the one with the wooden saddles urghh). I expected these to outlive me, ha ha. Maybe my expectations were too high on their longevity. The last time I snapped any string was 1988 ! As we all know, I'm looking at a new set £££, advice suggests you can't sort singles. I love these La Bella Deep Talkin strings. Combined with my Guild they are sort of a signature tone for me and my band. However should I switch brands? I still need that nice smooth coating on the replacements. I have tried Fender on my jazz and quickly switched back to rounds. Looking forward to any comments / advice from the forum. Also if anyone has a spare set for sale.....

Thanks John, I'm weighing up the options. Never thought changing the loom in isolation and retaining the pick-ups would make a significant change, but I'm learning a lot since posting

Cheers, looking for a deep mid sixties thump. TbH I hadn't given the guard much thought. I'm in the pick up, bridge and tuners zone. Really appreciate these responses people

Hello, just got a good price on a Squier 60s Pbass. I have some spare funds so would like to make improvements. What would people recommend? I'm inclined to change pick ups first, not much umph in these presently. All advice greatly received.

It is time to thin the herd. So up for sale is my Jack Casady Bass in Metallic Gold. I bought this in October 2021 from Mark (Limelight) at Classic & Cool, a super gentleman to deal with btw. I rehearsed with it a few times, but the project I bought it for never took off. It's been cased since about March 22. I have a few other semi acoustic basses, so I really should control my purchases, as I never really needed this. Condition-wise, it's excellent, no scuffs or dings and it plays really well, has a super low action. It's strung with Fender flats and when combined with the JCB low-impedance pickup it produces some really nice deep tones. In the words of Mark... 'it has a bridge/tailpiece addition which has been done very well, it's a high quality part (Warwick) and does have a few advantages - you can use more types of strings as the wrap doesn't now come over the saddles, it increases the string break angle, and makes it more resonant.' It does provide an extra bit of resonance when compared to a friends JC with the stock bridge set up IMO. The back of the neck has been flattened slightly so not as glossy as the rest of the back, but makes it nice to play. (Hardly noticeable. )The truss rod cover was missing, so currently sports a blank replacement, although there is there is also an aftermarket E cover included. There is no pickguard, I actually think they look better without, but this is down to personal taste. What is does have is the elusive Epiphone hard case which are over £100 if you can find one, supplies trickle in and out. This has seen some action, but is in good solid condition. Not really looking to trade, but I am partial to anything in Sonic / Powder Blue (try me). Postage will be at buyers expense. Rest assured it will be packed with care should it need to be shipped. Any questions on this sale, just message and I'll comeback to you.

Oh, looking nice.... Please let a Rivoli surface....

I too recall the Rivoli being touted as a reissue a few years ago. It just never happened. I'm seeing more and more epiphone reissues being announced this month. I would be over the moon if it actually returns this time.

Super, yes the Wikinson footprint is larger than you realise. Shame as they are good machine head. Need to keep these build costs down. Wonder if some second-hand Squiers off the site might do the job?

Guys, holes are good ferrules sit fine. It's the diameter of the tuner, not enough space on the headstock to accommodate all four. I'll provide photos when I make back to the homestead. Thanks for reading the post

I've just took delivery of a relatively decent pbass neck from China. It seems my Wilkinson machine heads are too big for the headstock. Can anyone recommend anything smaller but retaining the elephant ears?? Cheers guys
