Just a follow up from this gig and on the subject of fees etc, Speakeasy have re-booked us for 2 dates next year with an increased fee with the comment that they're happy to pay more as we're 'well worth it" Makes all the rehearsals and late night load-outs worth the effort when venue owners say things like that and back it up with their own cash.

Speakeasy gig last Saturday for Southern Frontier was a stormer. Place was full, although it's only a capacity of 70. There was some mighty shape throwing by the crowd during set 2. Country Roads always gets everyone singing and we've added MIFLAW (clue, Shania Twain song) as last song for set 2 so everyone was up and grooving. Threw 3 originals in this time which were well received. My goto gigrig of Mike Lull P4, Handbox R400+cab and Thumpinator did the bizzo. The drummer from my previous band turned up and was genuinely complementary which was nice.

I'd only come across the tip bucket at gigs in Sheffield and farther North (Cas Vegas for example) until t'other weekend when we played The Donkey in Leicester on a Sunday afternoon and we got £75 in tips

It's fabulous inside and run by a lovely couple Terry and Marni. They own the carpet shop next door and live in the flat above. You can't get a band in that bit and it is a small venue.

Our gig this evening is at The Speakeasy in Hinckley. Bit different to playing at the Dog n Duck next to one of the big TV's 😊

Did the pub promote the gig much? Many don't and that has an effect on numbers

We played a new venue for us called Inside the 22 in Rugby. So not only a reference to the game of Rugby in the town of Rugby, but the postcode is CV22 @Bluewine - the Zip code Daryl 😊. Nice big stage, decent PA and the sound guy Oli (also the owner) was excellent. We bashed through our set and included 3 originals, which went down really well. It's funny and flattering watching an audience trying to sing the words of an original cos they think they've heard it before somewhere. Used my goto rig of Mike Lull P4 with my Handbox R400 and matching cab, with the thumpinator in the effects loop. Band is called Southern Frontier Country Band so no prizes for guessing the genre.
