  1. Our gig this evening is at The Speakeasy in Hinckley. Bit different to playing at the Dog n Duck next to one of the big TV's 😊
  2. Did the pub promote the gig much? Many don't and that has an effect on numbers
  3. But always cover it in batter and deep-fry it!
  4. Looks great.... enjoy!
  5. We played a new venue for us called Inside the 22 in Rugby. So not only a reference to the game of Rugby in the town of Rugby, but the postcode is CV22 @Bluewine - the Zip code Daryl 😊. Nice big stage, decent PA and the sound guy Oli (also the owner) was excellent. We bashed through our set and included 3 originals, which went down really well. It's funny and flattering watching an audience trying to sing the words of an original cos they think they've heard it before somewhere. Used my goto rig of Mike Lull P4 with my Handbox R400 and matching cab, with the thumpinator in the effects loop. Band is called Southern Frontier Country Band so no prizes for guessing the genre. Here's that old chestnut Country Roads - actually one of my favourites to play - the middle eight really makes it. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/EkEq7M1eDtAWkSs2/
  6. Cheap as chips that....great cabs too
  7. Cool pic. What's the bass? Looks a bit like a Parker Fly guitar (sorry about the g word 😊)
  8. I go beer and toast post gig 😎
  9. Always fancied playing at Percy's but it's a bit of a hike from Leicester and the fee isn't brilliant
  10. My Lull is around 3.75 kg so nice n light
  11. The last time I owned a Fender P was in the 70's so I can't really remember but it's got standard Lindy Fralins in it, so it's not a bright modern sound. Think Lull are winding their own pick ups now. I do have a set of overwound Fralins bought from @walshy that I haven't got round to fitting yet....only had em about 18 months 🤣
  12. Correct 💯 😁
  13. It's a Mike Lull P4 and is my 'cold dead hands' bass
  14. Good point Dave. I think we should have moved the drums over a bit and given those of us on the rhside a bit more room. Me and the lead guitarist share a mic so we're always on the same side. We have a 'no curry the night before' pact
  15. Thanks, we are blessed with our lead vocalist Emma, she has a terrific voice. She starts one song acapella and, without a pitching note, hits it bang on every single time. We're lucky to have her in the band.
  16. Gig at The Donkey in Leicester (or The Donkeh in Lestah in the local vernacular) yesterday. An afternoon gig in lovely sunshine in the beer garden with a nice stage and sound man etc. Decent crowd in who listened appreciatively and did some dancing on some songs, although as Mrs Ricksterphil pointed out, a concrete floor isn't great to dance on. We had the resident air guitar specialist at the side of the stage - he's a lovely old fella who uses his walking stick as his axe and 'plays' along at the side with a big grin on his face ☺ We did two sets and they both went down really well and we threw in 2 or 3 of our originals for good measure. Ended the set on that old chestnut 'Sweet Home Alabama' as it was requested. I'd never played this live before joining this band last year, but it really is a great song with a decent bass lines....and a bit of dirt in the chain doesn't go amiss. Here's a vid of one of our originals 'End of the Line' Yee-Haw https://www.facebook.com/100009594104526/videos/1598251874288550/
  17. Afternoon gig for Trentfest at Thoresby Park. It had been hosing down all day but, undaunted, the crowd were sticking it out and enjoying the bands. It's a closed event for Caravan Club members and they had provided a decent stage, PA and sound guy. We did an hour's set and it went down really well, particularly when the sun came out half way through. My usual gigrig of Mike Lull P4 through my Handbox R400 with matching cab. Some 'just before we started' pics
  18. Played The Navigation in Newark on Saturday night. Interesting place, it's a former wharf warehouse on the River Trent and was nicely full. We're a Country Rock band and it was great that a couple from Virginia USA were in and told us we'd be awesome before we started (gotta love the +ve attitude). We launched into Folsom Prison (the song, not the jail ) and kicked off the evening. Lots of nodding and foot tapping during set 1 which ramped up in Set 2 with much singing along and shape throwing. We finished with the obligatory Sweet Home Alabama (ok, it's not really a Country song but nobody cared) and got loads of compliments post gig. Emma, our singer, had someone tell her she's exceptional.....she is to be fair Top night and we'll be back later in the year. My usual Mike Lull P4 and Handbox rig did the heavy lifting
  19. and the award for 'best stage gear' goes to...
  20. Friday night at The Blue Bell Stoney Stanton in Leicestershire, just up the road from Stoney Cove for all you in the diving fraternity. It's a great little pub and Jade, the landlady is a bone fide Country fan. Went down a storm with the added bonus of my daughter and S-I-L attending as they were up from that London for the w/end. Lots of boogie from the audience and despite our drummer having a gammy leg, we played a blinder. My usual goto gigrig of Mike Lull P4 through the Handbox R400 and matching 1x12. On to Newark next Saturday
  21. Sorry to hear about your mum. @WalMan. I lost my Mum suddenly too, she just dropped down dead in the care home one Saturday morning. I console my self that it was instant with no draw out suffering. Good for you for getting out gigging
  22. I've owned and sold 2 of these and they're great cabs.
  23. I had a 5 string with the single humbucker which was ace. Sold it cos the string spacing was too tight GLWTS
  24. For bands who take the piss and use up the next bands time slot.......death For punters who get on the stage in the interval and try and use the mics.....horse whipping followed by death For punters who repeatedly ask for the same song even though it's been pointed out that we don't know that one.....pelting in the stocks followed by horse whipping and then death. 😊
  25. Birthday party gig in the High Peak, Derbyshire, near Monsal Head. My car packed to the gunnels with all the PA and my gear etc. Went really well as the party guests were all Country music fans and knew most of the words to most of the songs. Cowboy hats n boots were the norm and there was a hog roast which was yum and a bucking bronco which was good fun to watch (none of the band took part). Used my EV subs, recently acquired to match the tops, for the first time and the sound FOH was excellent. Used my go to gig rig of Mike Lull P4 and Handbox R400 with matching HB 1x12 cab which sounded really good and I'm really gelling with now I've gigged it a few times ......and the cows enjoyed it. There were two large bovines in the pens next to the stage who were oblivious to the racket we were making and I'm sure they were nodding gently in time to the music 😊
