  1. We gigged at Albert's in Nottingham Saturday night, (it used to be known as Spanky van Dyke's if you know the area) supported by an alternative music DJ. Good venue, proper stage, their Pa and lights and the crowd loved it, asking for more after our 3rd encore. Some interesting attire in the crowd too, 2 gents in their late 50's dressed entirely in black cowboy gear - think ZZ Top but with shorter beards, and a lady dressed head to toe in figure-hugging black leather! The venue is putting on a lot of live music so worth checking out Albert's Nottingham
  2. Yup, we give ours away too, some of them signed!
  3. Be interesting to see how it compares sound-wise to a modern combo like a Markbass
  4. a bargain if you're into vintage amps https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Acoustic-Model-118-Bass-Combo-Amp-Amplifier/223414663809?hash=item34048d3a81:g:nx8AAOSwMoZccDo~
  5. I have one exactly like this. It has an after market loom and a mahoosive big green capacitor, which gives a fairly trebley 'grand piano' tone. Plays very nicely and as mine cost me £100 it's probably much better value in terms of bang per buck than my Mike Lull jazz
  6. Could i ask what make/model of 5 string has this slim neck?
  7. Funny that, I bought a lovely Thunderbird 2015 model with the Babicz bridge etc. It looked killer and sounded pretty good too, but I ended up only using my Mike Lull Jazz at gigs so the T-Bird just sat there not getting played, so I sold it on evilbay to a bloke who bought it because he'd "always wanted a T-bird".
  8. These are great amps and powerful enough for small pub gigs with an extension speaker
  9. I play in a Bowie Tribute with a female on lead vocals. We got to play at the Supersonic Club in Paris at the end of Jan! I love it and there's such a wealth of material to go at, with many of the songs having really good bass lines, it will be a long time before we get bored. We're playing a David Bowie Convention on 11th May in Derby, with the Maggie Ronson band and Jean Genie as the headliners
  10. In case it is still available in a few weeks, what is the width of the neck at the nut?
  11. Cheap as chips this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sadowsky-Metro-Bass-in-blue-and-white-combo-Excellent-Condition/292857835176?hash=item442fafeea8:g:LhwAAOSwKSlcDQcv:rk:1:pf:1&frcectupt=true
  12. Welcome Pete I too am resident in Nottingham (well near anyway)
  13. As mentioned, a bit poppy for me but the singer has an excellent voice and the song is memorable. Good luck with it and enjoy! I for one would be fascinated by a gig diary.....living life vicariously is, after all, living! It will keep my spirits up when we're loading PA into the van behind the Dog and Duck at 1.00 am in the morning!
  14. Sometime in 73 I think, Little Hereford Village Hall in ..er Little Hereford (which is not far from slightly bigger Hereford). Can't remember what guitar I played (I think I borrowed one) or what amp. We had 3 songs, no vocals and played support to a local rock band (who were pretty good I seem to remember). The audience danced and clapped at the end....what more could you ask? This is us a couple of years later playing The Angel Hotel in Ludlow. I'm playing my pre Gibson Epiphone through a Matamp head & 2 Marshall 4x12's. Can't for the life of me remember what we called the band tho 😂
  15. WTF!! It is getting up to 50 years old now tho! "Can we have everything louder than everything else" ...classic (ok it's off Made in Japan I know but still...) loved a bit (a lot) of Purple when I was a callow youth!
  16. We're playing the Supersonic Club in Paris on 27th Jan at Convention Bowie France 2019. Capacity is 300 which will make it our biggest gig to date.
  17. Just wanted to add to this thread that I use a pair of Bergantino HT112's (a matched pair, 1 with tweeter, 1 without) and I constantly get compliments about my sound (although not my playing lol!) GLWTS
  18. I've used Gear4Music, Fairdeal in birmingham, GAK, dv247 and eBay quite a bit and never had any issues (just lucky I guess) I also use CPC Farnell for PA stuff - they can be very cheap and delivery is usually next day and free if you spend more than a fiver https://cpc.farnell.com/c/audio-visual/professional-sound-lighting
  19. I thought the band were right on it and I very much enjoyed Bedders playing. Also, good intel on the bass.... Suggs is not a great vocalist but he doesn't need to be and is a good frontman
