  1. Welcome! I have no experience of Peavey basses at all, but all the TC Electronics gear I have / had is/has been top notch There are open mics springing up everywhere with backline where you can drop in and just jam, which is a pretty good place to start playing again. A survey of your local FB music groups and pub pages should find them
  2. Yeah...if they start killing kittens, then defo tell 'em to do one!
  3. Not in your area but Richtone Music in Sheffield are pretty good when it comes to PX You can email them pics of your stuff and ask for a valuation https://www.richtonemusic.co.uk/
  4. Leave and don't lend them your PA.......they are royally taking the p*ss
  5. It's the way things are going certainly and round our way there are a LOT of acoustic om nights. A lot of the bedroom warriors need to learn how to project a song and entertain an audience, but I've seen some stand out performances from singer/guitarists or on one occasion a ukulele duo! If it keeps live music in places that would otherwise not bother, I think it's a good thing as long as the quality is there
  6. Coo that's nice! I had a blue one of these and it's a bangin bass. Shame they call them basic...Classic would have been better
  7. Aladdin Sane and also the Dave Matthews band 'Everyday'
  8. Our drummer has an electric kit which goes straight into the PA which is a Yamaha 400w affair with 2x12 full range speakers and handles 3 x vocals and an acoustic and it works great. Really handy for small venues and a total doddle to set up. He has his own monitor which runs off the PA so he can hear himself
  9. I'm in a Bowie Tribute band, but we're a bit different as our lead singer is female. Jane (for that is her name) does a bit of dressing up and uses the jagged metal tie on 'Man Who Sold the World. The rest of us just wear mostly normal clobber as you can see....that's me in the hat btw! We don't replicate the music note for note and have written an original tribute to Bowie song. Best part is we all take it seriously but also have a laugh, work hard on performances and audiences seem to like us. http://www.facebook.com/missbowieband
  10. . My nearly made it story relates to an outdoor festival we opened up for in 1976 in Wales. Alexis Korner was the guest of honour(?) at this gig and said we were rubbish! The drummer from that band (my first band while at school) went on to be in the Lazers which as all you pop cogniscenti will know was led by Carol Decker and morphed into T'Pau. Trouble is my mate had decided NOT to go with them down to that London and ended up watching them on TOTP 6 months later. He did redeem himself later on by playing in a band in which Robert Plant would turn up and sit in on as he (Planty) knew the band leader very well.

  14. I saw Toyah in Calamity Jane at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham in the 90's She struggled vocally and the whole show was a bit meh

  20. There's a guy on Facebook looking Tristan Hill. Check the Bass Players UK market group. He's in Nottingham
  21. You might not like his vocals (many do not it would seem) but he was central to their sound and so can't really be classed as a fifth wheel
