  1. Our drummer spends all his time at the end of a gig chatting up women while making it look like he's packing up his gear. Meanwhile we do the stripdown and then help him load his stuff! Drummers eh! Can't gig without em...can't kill 'em!
  2. Nice one....must remember that line when I am explaining to Mrs ricksterphil why I needed 'yet another bass'
  3. Too late to offer my two p worth, but this would be my choice if you can put up with waiting while one comes up preloved http://mikelull.com/site/instruments/basses/bass-P4_P5.html I have a Jazz made by Mike.....it's so well made, beautiful to play and very light!
  4. sh*t happens in bands......keep at it and something good will turn up!
  5. 2nd album I ever bought. 1st was 'Hits 68' I then acquired Sabbath Bloody Sabbath with all the Satanic imagary on the cover. My Dad (a strict Baptist), was not impressed at all. I always liked the acoustic intro to Spiral Architect and sometimes play it when I'm noodling and ask people to guess the source....no one ever gets it right (except Sabbath fans obvs). No so big into metal these days, but might well give 4 and SBS a re-listen
  6. . Very well said that man! ...I will be incorporating 'a face like a pair of old tits' into my vocab from this day onwards!
  7. Not bad but not brilliant. Our singer showed a video of a pub gig we did to a couple of pro musicians she knows and they complemented my playing without being asked which was a massive boost to my self esteem. Interesting thing is, since that point I've started working harder on my chops, driven by the fear of complacency!
  8. Basses Gibson Thunderbird 2015 or Mike Lull Custom M4V Rig EBS HD350 Head in a 3u rack case with a Korg Pitchblack 2 Bergantino HT112 Cabs (1 with tweeter) Ibanez Paul Gilbert Airplane Flanger (the 'Take Off' mode is a hoot....usually deployed at the end of the gig) Big Knob Pedals Zed Drive Black Leather Hat as below....I'm the one at the back (obvs) on my (now sold) Sandberg, next to the utterly gorgeous Mel (BV and guitar). We're in a Bowie Tribute band
  9. You've done the only sensible thing. For getting gigs, find venues on Facebook that book bands, call them, or message them and then call them. Better still, turn up at a gig and chat to the landlord
  10. T-Birds are great. I have the 2015 version with the Babicz bridge and it's awesome. A billy bargain at this price and as batman would have said had he been a bassist 'It's the T-Bird.....chicks love the T-Bird'
  11. Interesting discussion.....just wondering if recent posters realised the OP was in 2013!
  12. Sold my Tritonlabs Dual FET overdrive pedal to Ben. Top guy to deal with - no problems at all
  13. You forgot to mention the best bit....this amp goes up to 11!
  14. FS SOLD EBS Octabass Triple Mode Octave pedal No box but in very good condition Price includes postage to mainland UK
  15. Cool, just down the road from me so I'll be there!
  16. Fact is, it's hard to go out and buy a really bad bass these days....now in my day, when men were men, (in the 70's) the cheap basses were awful and some of the big names were a bit dodgy too!
  17. Thanks, it just isn't the sound for me hence the sale
  18. FS only - £80.00. Sold pending receipt of coin of the realm! Tritonlabs FET Overdrive Overdrive pedal made by Tritonlabs. I've had this about a year and gigged with it a couple of times. Has a voltage boost built in which gives a lot more headroom. It will run off anything from 9 to 24volts The sound is 'darkglass' for me - it sounds a lot like a Darkglass Vintage microtubes pedal I had once, however this pedal has a greater tonal range A new one would cost you around £119.00 depending on exchange rate - I'm asking £80 posted to UK mainland addresses More info here http://www.triton-lab.com/overdrive
  19. Now you're talking
  20. No biscuits??? No interest!!! Nice cab..... GLWTS
