1.
Here is a pic; with top & bottom so has all the info I have on it! https://photos.app.g...Aa4ViLEqwQgbtK2 HTH
I think I was the former keeper of this pedal. Really nice pedal and very well made...worked best with passive basses I found (which I don't have any of)
 2. At least he behaved himself on stage but in my book that's a 'removed by the bouncer' offence. Did a gig once in Nottm and a load of Blades* fans came in before we started. They started trying to get on the mic and sing to their mates - our sound guy rugby tackled one of them and threw him back into the crowd. It got very tense - we were backs to the wall with no obvious escape route - and it looked like we were done for (there were at least 20 of them). Calm quickly followed when two police helmets (being worn by policemen, obvs) appeared at the back of the room (called in by the Landlord who knew there would be trouble). Phew.....had visions of taking my bass off and swinging it like a club to ward off the kicking we were clearly in for. It was my lovely black Rickenbacker 4001 (another in a long line of 'shouldn't have sold it' basses) so I'm glad it didn't have to double up as a weapon. *Sheffield Utd
 3.
Again, personally I don't see that and I don't get the sense anyone here is suggesting anyone is any less of a musician if their not gigging. We all gig and don't gig for different reasons. One of the primary reason I gig is to bring a little happiness to people when the work week is done and they merely want to relax, have fun and a good time. We had a marginal crowd at best Saturday night. But there was this one older women who looked like she hadn't been out for a while. She was smiling, totally focused on the band rocking in her seat. Just watching her puts why I gig into perspective. Blue
We did a gig a couple of weeks back at a local place (The Maze) on a local bands night where each band gets 30 minutes. A total of 3 people turned up but they had a great time and told us so afterwards. It would have been great if the place was full but even so we thought it was worth the effort
 4. 'Musician' noun. A person who plays a musical instrument, especially as a profession, or is musically talented. from the OED
 5. Bump and price adjustment - think I pitched this too high so I've knocked £20 off
 6.
Is this yet another re-hash of the "you're not a proper musician unless you get paid" thread? My mother is a pianist and LRAM, and she spent about 20 years duetting with a friend on the flute - mainly Bach. They never played a concert (even though they were a covers band ), and had absolutely no interest in doing so. It was purely for their own entertainment. Does that mean they weren't proper musicians?
Not at all in my book....
 7.
Loved your clip. Nice job! Blue
Thanks Blue....very much appreciated
 8.
A pretty nice sound going there from the Miss Bowie Band, do you ever come as far south as Sussex? Mark.......................
Thanks, much appreciated. We haven't ventured out of the Nottingham area yet, but as we get more established we have plans to go further afield (we only started in February of this year)
 9.
I can definitely see the attraction in the 'practice' being the main event. You get together and you play. That's the event. I enjoy playing gigs but there's plenty about gigging that's a total PITA. It's nothing to do with hard work, it's about tedium, getting messed around and dealing with idiots. Hours of hanging around for one. City parking restrictions near venues. Arrangements bearing no relation to what you agreed. Sitting around in bars not being able to drink because of the playing and the driving. Sound guys not following the rider even though they've had it for three months (no monitors??). I spent an hour of Sunday evening just sitting on my rig out in the street because the promoter had given us the wrong load-in time. Then he let the band before us significantly over-run and let them stand around chatting on the stage afterwards, preventing us setting up, so our set-time (in the printed and electronic listings - it was a festival) was completely wrong and very late. As the icing on the cake, just as we were due to kick off, he announced that some urban artists (his mates, I assume) would be doing a two song showcase before we played. This basically killed the audience who were there for a world-music type programme. Just playing and recording definitely feels attractive a lot of the time.
We're playing the Ojxam Beeston Takeover on Sat night. which band are you? This is us https://www.facebook.../missbowieband/
 10.
Used to do Maid In Heaven in a band I was in a few years back. Always enjoyed playing that one. Sadly I can't harmonise to save my life, otherwise I'd go for this.
Go for it anyway....if it's the same guy, they've been looking for over a year for someone. I thought about it, bought a couple of the albums, liked some of the songs a lot, but figured it wasn't for me.

 14. I had one just like this and they are excellent. Probably the beat value for money jazz you can buy
 15.
I didn't get Tom Jones in a big way until fairly recently. Saw him live a few months ago and he totally blew me away - great band / material / attitude, and that voice! At 77 years old, one of the very few singers left of his generation who are actually as good if not better than when they first found fame. Never heard Tom come even close to missing a note, an amazing singer. His last few albums are definitely worth a listen too, quite dark and bluesy. Completely get it if you don't like his voice, but honestly don't think he is overrated.
+1 Jones the voice is the biz
 16.
Yes, yes. But it's a forum. We like being arseholes, mob rule and chucking stones at people for no good reason. We also like ringing doorbells then running away, fiddling with ourselves in Matalan, and throwing Maccy D wrappers from moving cars.
so that was you then was it!!!
 17. You might find that the Bass Direct guys will give you a reasonable trade-in price against a Jazz of higher value - worth a try at least
 18. +1 for Coldplay....liked the first album a bit but everything since then is dire 'dialling it in' rubbish for which they earn gadzilions. At least Bryan Adams had the good taste to give up and concentrate on photography before he was lured back by the cash. He wrote 1 good song (which is more than I have to be fair) Cannot understand anyone putting The Who in this category tho.....that's the same as not liking/loving The Jam, just goes against nature
