  1. On the strength of this thread I had a look-see on the Entwhistle site for some humbuckers, which alas there are none So I emailed Mr E asking if there are any plans to add to the range. got an email back the very next day saying that 'buckers are on the development list and will available soon.
  2. No other forum I've ever been on has the propensity for percolating drivel like basschatters do I absolutely love it! Now what we're we talking about...? Oh yes straps. I have a wide leathery one (may well be faux) which works well but isn't very adjustable I look forward to progress on this one.
  3. Hey guys and gals, what about Tia Carrere? Not sure who she is..........well playmates I shall enlighten you She is the actress (sic) who played the bass player that Wayne drooled over in Wayne's World I think her ability on the bass was only surpassed by her acting!! Ok I'm kidding NOT!
  4. Thanks......it really is a thing of beauty
  5. For me it's got to be Suzi, but then I was in my early teens when she hit the charts so I thought she was (is) ace. She can still fit in the same stage gear all these year's later apparently ( or so I read in a magazine interview) Must admit my knowledge of women bass players has widened by about 500% reading this thread so will be checking out some of the names mentioned.
  6. Any pics other than the website ones?
  7. Bought a cracking SWR 4x8 cab from Oldman (Brian) Top cab Top bloke Nuff said!
  8. Nice bass, shame I'm skint Free bumpity
  9. Hmm, might have to consider sending another kid down the mine!
  10. great bass - not to my taste tho big thumbs up for your lessons on your website - just started on the slap lessons, which is great (unlike my slap at the mo)
  11. Big fan of Blades......have a strat style 6 string and it's excellent will have to have a look in the kids piggy bank
  12. Nice.....and tempting I've pm'd you my email addy, would you be able to email those pics?
  13. I'm interested......still for sale? ...and I also live in Nottingham (although farther away from Derby than KevB)
  14. Are these a metal style bass or can you get a variety of sounds? Completely ignorant about Sandbergs
  15. Can you email me some pics? Ok for courier collect? Email pm'd
  16. Had no problems buying or selling on ebay myself, but will be extra cautious from now on. Generally if I buy something expensive I. Go and collect it in person. I might adopt this policy for selling as well. Good tip about blocking non-payers, I've amended my account accordingly (I mean change preferences on my next sale item)
  17. I reckon it was probably genuine and either his ebay ad automatically resisted or he got a couple of guitars of Fender free or cheap and was planning on selling them on.
  18. 1 word Roland 100w Bass Cube (ok 4 words) So well built and reliable and easy to sell when you upgrade If you're not in a rush, 1 will come up on ebay in the right condition and delivered. You should be able to get a decent secondhand one for £100 - £140 and you'll get that back when you sell it. If you do end up buying new, haggle the price down - they'll knock 10-15% off almost just by asking Good luck
  19. Previously owned Rickenbacker 4001 71/72 vintage, black with rare white chequered binding Precision, 70's Black, maple neck Semi-acoustic Hofner - 1st bass Epiphone (pre-gibson I think) Current ESP Grass Roots (current) GMR Custom (current) and a few current tasty 6 string electrics - oops did I say that out loud
  20. Well done mate and I wouldn't worry about what your mate says, if you love it, you'll play it!
  21. Thought I'd share my experiences with couriers. I bought an ashdown valve amp a while back and the guy shipped it with no packaging at all. Courier guy treated it with kid gloves as he could see what it was (must say I wouldn't risk that) Co-incidentally I sold the same amp to some guy in Lithuania who arranged his own courier which turned out to be he his cousin in a van who did regular trips back and forth taking and fetching stuff Mostly when I ship guitars I buy a guitar box from the guitar shop round the corner for £3 and use those. Now I've read the bike box tip I'll do that instead. Recently bought an acoustic in a hard shell case and that arrived with some minimal cardboard packing to prevent scuffing and that was fine. And lastly, if the sale / purchase is within 50 or so miles I'll go and collect / deliver
  22. Hi Richard I'm less than 4 years away from the big 60 and gave just re-discovered the joy of playing live again. Only local pub stuff but the buzz is nearly as god as sex! I played ad gigged a lot in my youth then gave up due to young family and work. Unfortunately, unlike you, I sold my gear (black early 70's Rickenbacker 4001 with rare chequered binding, Matamp 100w head and 2 Marshall 4x12 ) Anyway, enough regret about old gear I should have kept, keep it up and get out there and play live Phil
