  1. I had a V2 5 string for a while. Great bass, well finished and not heavy. I'd recommend them but you'd probably find a Cort or an Ibanez for similar money. I think the string spacing is quite tight on the Sire. I have a Cort 5 string now for that reason. The Sire knobs are pants but that's a cheap and easy fix
  2. Not quite the intent of the thread, but I went to see Vintage Trouble at the 02 Academy on Tuesday night. An awesome band with quite possibly the best frontman in the business. If you get the chance, go see them. Also, the bassist has an awesome Aguilar rig so much opportunity to nerd out
  3. Bargain....trouser flapping goodness for no money, as long as you have a roadie to move it 😂
  4. Bowie at his very best with a fabulous band.
  5. or put yourself out there for dep work which will give focus to your practicing and live work without the frustrations of a regular band
  6. she could communicate emotion through her voice like very few others can or could RIP Sinead

  8. First to Eleven are awesome. check out their version of Coldplay's 'Fix You'
  9. ....which prompts me to say....Alroight Now! Tarar-abit
  10. A thing of beauty and loveliness. I'd just put that on a stand in the front room and gaze at it 😊
  11. There are some sound wally's about unfortunately and this one looks like he's top of the pile.
  12. This might sound familiar.
  13. We did take up a fair bit of space The Crown Hotel 01636 375025 https://g.co/kgs/xRk12m
  14. Cracking gig at The Crown in Southwell, Nottinghamshire. Scratch 7-piece band, with 2 guitars drums and bass and 3 vocalists. Place was bouncing and we ran out of songs. Post gig grinning pic, I'm the one in the cap. Sound guy is in the red shirt
  15. What a right old carry on!
  16. Agreed. I've never seen them but my sister did in Brum many years ago and raved about them. 'The Book of Invasions' is a cracking album They're no longer touring having stopped in 2022.
  17. I really like Neil Young's songs, particularly when my own mood is on the dark side. His voice is a bit marmite though. Bit like Tom Waits, many of my mates love him and he's written some top choons, but his voice gives me the heabies....think nails down a blackboard....yurgh
  18. I stand corrected.....thanks😊
  19. Horse with no name was written as a send up of Neil Young songs I thought..... bit like the 'Southern Man' song by Young with 'Sweet Home Alabama' by Skynyrd as a repost......no love lost betwixt the two apparently
  20. Talking of which I have just 'discovered' the bassline to 'Welcome to the Jungle' for a gig I'm doing on Saturday. It's cool and I'm enjoying learning it...ok so Victor Wooten it ain't, but it seems Duff has some chops, even though he plays his bass at knee-cap level. Sorry, off topic.....
  21. Lady in Red if sung by Chris de Bleeaargh Once watched Stars in their Eyes and a dude came on and did the song...wasn't too bad as the wannabe CdeB actually sang in tune. He must have won the show as during the reprise, the afromentioned CdeB came on and joined him as a duet and gave his normal 'eversoslightlyoutoftunebothsharpandflatsometimesallatonce' rendition which set my teeth on edge. I'd rather listen to wall to wall Coldplay (who did some ok songs on their first album to be fair)
  22. Sold my Grizzly Bass pedal to @IanA. Easy transaction with no hassles
