1.
Dave, Do you do either the DI-EQ or twin version as a kitset? I do enjoy building these things (as long as the instructions are good). I couldn't see any mention of kitsets on your website or ebay shop. Many thanks, Martin
Hi Martin, Don't do kits any longer. Dave
  2.
Same question a month & a half later
Sorry, all gone. But I have been offering the VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass at the same price for another week or so. check it out on ebay. Dave
  3.
i was wondering if the vt2-twin-eq and vt-1-eq have a blend knob on them or could one be installed, as i like to blend my grit/overdrive/distortion with my amps sound. i use a boss line selector at the mo to do my blending but would like to not have to use it in the future. but as i've never owned a DHA pedal before is this whole blend thing not needed, will my tone come through with the tone of the pedal? as i tend to find cheap(er) pedals like boss and digitech tend to cover my tone with its sound but my ebs stuff seems to work with the tone of my amp and bass. Cheers Vic
They don't have blend knobs as we believe they don't need them. They are really valve pre-amps and do not generate distortion with solid state clipping just valve overdrive soft clipping so hence the tone of your bass will get through. Dave
wowww, I am GAS'ing! This is going on my Christmas list! Of course, will it get through in time even if I ordered today?
Yes it will be done for xmas as I have all the bits in stock and have made up boards and drilled boxes ready for final assembly of the VT2-Twin. Cut off for xmas for the larger pedals will be within the next week and the VT1's, EQ-DIs will be around the first, second week in Dec depending on how many orders are in. Dave

  7.
i have recently(ish) acquired a trace elliot ah300 watt head which i use with a 1048h and a 1153h cabs.. everything was fine until i took the head and 1153 to rehearsals last weekand after playing for 5 mins (not even loud) i COMPLETELY lost any sound !!! i checked my bass thru a guitar amp so i knew it wasnt my bass.. long story short: i took it to a local repairman who tested it and tested it but couldnt find anything wrong but lo and behold had got it working again(??) by pure fluke! i was dubious but it seemed fine at home, so still baffled i went to rehersal 2 days later and after playing for around an hour i lost all sound from my 4x10 but had a very quiet, broken up sound from the 1x15... the light on the head remained on and nothing sounded untoward on either occasion my drummer took it away to have a look as he thought it could be possibly some dodgy solder or as he put it : a dry joint, he scrutinised it under magnification for hours but saw no signs of a dry joint or dodgy solder .. i dont know what else to say other than i hope i posted this in the right section and sorry if this is very vague..
does sound like a dry joint, resolder all the joints and see what happens.
  8. Unless I misunderstand is that not just a direct feedback loop - not a good idea
  9.
Does you know if it is safe (for the 2120) for a bass to be plugged into the RPM1 preamp, then the high pass output to feed into the input of the 2120? Can't seem to get any joy from Ashdown or Digitech on the matter. Does the RPM1 actually put out an amplified signal that may damage the effects unit? Thanks.
New DHA pedal

The new VT2-Twin-EQ's and the std versions are shipping this coming week, sorry for the delays for those who have ordered. Not long to wait now and I look forward to reviews. Dave
  11. The Weekend Rock Stars are looking for a bass player since Richard the last one has moved from the area. We are based in Mid/North Devon but gig all over the South West. We play classic rock and blues with vocals, lead guitar, keys, drums. Fun band of more mature gents with a good following. Dave DHA
  12.
Thanks for that, by lower output do you mean a quieter signal out?
yes
  13.
So it seems the Diago power station is the answer. Two questions though, does anyone know what type of power connector the EHX Bass Big Muff uses? And also, I currently run my DHA with a 12V supply, the Diago runs at 9V. Now it says clearly in the pedal 9-12V, but will I encounter any problems running it lower? Cheers for the help!
No problems with DHA at 9V, just a lower output level. looked at the Diago site and will contact them as I think it will work with more of my pedals than they think. Current rating is the issue, so Vt1's need 150mA+, Vt2's 300mA+ - at start up there is a lot more current drawn that's why we recommend 1200mA supplies, but 400-600mA will be fine.
  14.
Does anyone know if the tubes run at high voltage?
The anodes are at 24V
  15.
I need to bounce this off you guys. Playing towards the tail end of our first set last night my amp volume suddenly dropped to next to nothing. I couldnt adjust mid song so plugged away till the end. Before the next number, I tried to get my volume back by increasing the Master (on reflection not a good idea as there was obviously something amiss). The amp went wild when I played a note with the clip light doing sixteenths and a terrible distorted fast clip like sound at full volume. I wasnt running the amp above half volume if that. We stopped the set early and I tried to trouble shoot. Checked the 9V batteries in the Bongo (full charge) and all pedals powered. Power to the amp and both cabs connected. On plugging direct into the amp it worked fine so suspecting the pedal board, I played the next set direct to the amp. Ive just set up this morning to try and figure out what is wrong and unfortunately EVERYTHING works as advertised. So Im now thinking that its going to happen again mid set and I dont have a back up head. My set up is as follows Bongo HH into DHA VT2 OD into Tonebone Bassbone. Loop to Stereo Memory Man, OC2, EBS Autowah, Boss SYB3, Boss PH3 back to bassbone. Then output to BBE OptoStomp Compressor to GB Shuttle6.0 running at 4 Ohms into a GB 210T and 112Neox. Im a bit stumped TBH The only thoughts I have are 1. I had to run a 6 socket single power lead from the DJ booth which powered all my gear and the PA(I had an RCD to my gear). Could the venue have dirty power that got past my RCD? 2. The only pedal that was live in the chain was the DHA but it was in bypass. Is the valve on the DHA or the Shuttle on the way out which may explain the drop in volume? Any thoughts or troubleshooting tips would be most welcome Cheers Don
If the DHA was in by-pass then nothing to do with the valve. Could be a duff cable? Dave
  16.
any places left at £185?
Yes, in fact sold more at full price on ebay! Dave
  17. I am just about to order another batch of VT2-Twin-EQ boards as sales have been good. I have been asked about a lower cost version so now seems like a good time to do one. So, same deal as I always do with new products which is a discount for the first 5 to order. It will be called the VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass - same as the VT2-Twin-Eq-Bass but without the headphone amp, line in, boost switches (selectable on or off with a link inside), bright switches (again selectable on or off with a link inside), red/blue out. Will be a painted box unlike the other Std's, will be green and yellow I think but will let customers pick their own colours as always with "Custom Shop" models. Still has DI, twin channels with active EQ on each, same tone. The VT2-Twin-EQ-Bass is on ebay at £249 + P&P, if you buy direct then a free power supply is included, if via ebay then a extra £15.99. The new VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass version will have a target price of £219 + P&P. Same deal on the power supply. So the offer for the first 5 members to order will be £185 including P&P and power supply. 18.
Thanks for the note. The sound clip closest to what I am after is Dual-Custom-Bass-ch1-Fat-EQ-off-Colour-on but a bit brighter, and with the the possibility of a boost in a couple of places - not that I am one for solos, run a mile from the damn things!!! I'll have to give Johnnylagers a go at the SE Bash
if it's the VT1 tone you like then the Vt1-EQ-Bass-Drive might do what you want. dave
  19.
Just wondering which VT to go for. I have been using the BOD pro & a floor board, but really only use a couple of patches and after the floor board wouldn't work last gig I got to thinking about trimming down the rig and getting something like one of these. I am after a rock tone, some warmth and a bit of grit. The ability to have a mild boost in a couple of places in the set would be nice so I am sort of thinking of a VT2 Dual (possibly Custom) But do I just go

VT1 as a valve preamp to warm things up and leave it on at the amp to avoid multiple cable runs from the radio out to a VT, back to the input, then out of the loop to my chorus pedal & back again; or
VT2 out front but with the two runs; or
Either and stick the chorus before/after it and forget about the loop
Any suggestions. Oh and last question to Dave, Do you hold them all in stock or is there a lead time between order and delivery for build, and if so what sort of time is that? Cheers all
I am phasing the VT2-Dual's out as they are replaced with the VT2-Twin's. Dave
  20.
Hello Dave, I started a thread Going D.I. Your D.I. boxes look like just the box i'm after..... just a couple of questions,, could a valve version be made and/or would it be possible to have an effects loop for my english muff'n valve sound and chorus pedal which are a very improtant part of my set up???
My Vt1-EQ-Bass-drive is the valve version. I do a valve blender as well but that does not have a DI. The VT3-Twin-EQ-Bass-RM is a 1U rack that has twin channels, 3 DI's, valve FX loop with blend, tuner mute, headphone amp, line in. Dave
  21.
I did that worked fine then it went off then it was fine again probably just pulled the lead out a little. Overall impression was very good though, I used it directly into the power amp on my Superfly and it pulled off a very very sweet Ska tone, I'm not the smartest when it comes to explaining such things but I'd say there are a lot of tonal variations available on it and it will become a cheap, practical, high quality back up.
glad it's working and you like it. Dave
  22.
What does it mean when the led doesn't come on?
No power. You must plug into the jack with guitar on it.
  23.
got mine yesterday but I couldn't try it at the gig as I didn't have enough time, just a quick question, which input is pasive and which is active?
There is only one i/p which will work with both passive and active bass's. It's the one with the guitar drawing on it, it is a stereo jack and your mono lead switches the power on by connecting the ground to the battery. The other 1/4" jack next to it is the unaffected feed. Dave
  24.
thanks for getting back to me dave...it does stop when i unplug the guitar you got me wondering now maybe the guitar is at fault. i did replace this battery in it a couple of weeks ago i'll have a go at replacing it with another one and see what happens many thanks once again dave cheers!
Might just be the cable?
  25.
i hope you could shed some light on this problem... i have a trace elliot 1210 combo its 2 years old and when in use it has developed a crackling noise when nothing is being played and its getting worse.i dont notice it when i'm playing but it sounds bad when i stop. i know that the compression built in these amps can get noisy and i'm pretty sure its not that. i dont seem to have any dodgy pots when i turn them and i've change all the leads but its still there.when i put the amp in mute mode it does stop.i dont use the valve on it and i keep it in a dry enviroment and dont abuse it so i'm a bit baffled.....i would be most grateful for any advice many thanks, paul
Hi Paul, It's impossible to fix this sort of fault via email but my first idea would be a dry joint, problem is it could be anywhere. Might be a pot but I would expect that you would hear a lot more crackling when you move it. Does it do it when the bass is not pugged in? Dave
