1. I have said all of that because somebody has complained 400 quid for CV is too much.... well to me 1200 for Fender USA standard Jazz is simple robbery... 550 for Mexican Bass - still too much if we talk about overall quality... As always, we all having different taste and ways of spending money. One day maybe will buy Fender`s bass but definitely 2nd hand, lightweight with decent fretwork - IF find one and could play it (so buying here wont work)
2. I have to say my tuners keep tuning hanging on the wall for days or practising for long time, to me it will be waste of money buying fancy tuners as I`d say they are no worse than tuners from Mexican Fenders..
3. My apologies then... we all have different taste, needs, look ect. To me CV are better basses. Ones had USA Standard Jazz from 2010. Most of the frets were covered in Varnish and as a bonus some got green polishing paste under the varnish(Really regret never took a photo) - On CVs I love small frets and the fretwork is ALWAYS spot on. Basswood, yes, crap wood - not for me. Many good Japanese Fenders are having basswood body. Cheap pots? Yes - are they really change Your tone? Come on... On my Matt Freeman bass can go low as 2.00mm over 12th fret E string (La Bella Flats) without a buzz - Never could go as low with MIM or USA bass... Happy New Year!
4. Looks like You are not alone, grew up from buying "logos"on headstock
5. Dense Basswood is not soft as You would think. Had Mexican Fender (Alder?) and guess what - while tightening neck plate I have managed bend the corners of the plate because.... yes, body was soft as wool..
6. I think they have ''open box" in stock too Edit: It`s gone already https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Squier-by-Fender-Classic-Vibe-60s-P-Bass-Guitar-Olympic-White-Box-Opened/1RIM Haha, did You ever compare them not watching pictures? Did You know i.e. Mexican Fenders have PLASTIC inserts where truss rod nut goes - CVs have rosewood insert and... Way better fretwork. How do I know??? Ive had MIM and USA Fenders, usual subject of "logo ind headstock matters" One of my favorite demos, can`t stop listening to the sound of this bass, Andreas is great musician:

14.
Why not post as-similar-as-possible recordings of the two, ideally level-matched? (our ears easily fool us into thinking louder is better).
Impossible ,fancy bass is gone... I forgot to mention I was trying to match output in DAW(Reaper) but as said Squiers pickup has more output anyway. i forget to mention in fancy bass was/is humbucker pickup and I have splitted coil into single coil with humbucker in series it was not as bad as I`d expect. My bad - sorry everyone
15.
....... To paraphrase Joe Meek (?), if it sounds right, it is right.... Normally more expensive pickups are better made in an objective basis (better materials, more careful attention to detail), but subjectively you may feel otherwise ... cheers Roman
Very well said... Ones I ve had an old GMR Bass looking like warwick with same hardware and wood including passive active MECs (I`d blame pickups) and thought: I have a good bass and it was good until I bought: Squier VM Jazz and connected it to same amp... what a surprise my heart said "dont bother - GMR is better bass made like You in Poland(hahaha)" my ears: "This Squier sounds way better" i regret following years I was listening to my heart not my ears... So? I was owing Japenese LTD, USA Standard Jazz, Mexican Precision, LTD made in Indonesia, GMR and Mayones Jabba and now I owe 1x CV Squier Precision and 1x CV Squier Jazz, why 1. They sound good as they are. 2. They are WAY better made than USA Fender&MIM Precision Ive had... The only fancy and good sounding bass which could compete with Chinese Squier was Jabba, yes I hear You I`m silly but do I care what other say? Regards Tomas
16.
Really? The standard hardware is absolutely decent (got two, so can speak from experience), I'd say they always have decent electronics too (Delano, Haussell, Aguilar, Glockenlang - even the own brand pups are meant to be good) & the used ones i've seen on here always seem to be up for a fair price. Looks pretty much standard Maruszczyk top quality to me. If this was active, I'd have been all over it already!
I had one too with terrible fretwork(can supply pictures if wanted), so I`m not fan of them... My point was: They are overpriced because come with Chinese hardware in most cases. The bass in this ad is totally different and worth every penny I think... Sorry for trashing people...
17. First Maruszczyk with decent hardware, decent pickups and decent price I have ever seen.....
18.
Interesting, although one person's "right" will be another person's "wrong" - there is no universal correct answer to "which sounds better". The green pickup appears to have less fundamental bass level and also less higher harmonics. The purple pickup has relatively more bass and more high end. I couldn't say which sounds better (to me) by looking at the spectra though - I'd guess the purple one based on the apparently wider range?
A reply I was expecting To my ear purple (Squier) Sounds better and spectrum analyze says why. Took me years to realise that we all are fooled by music business telling us that i.e. USA made Fender is a good sounding bass (even when it`s frets are covered in varnish!) and Squier is crap because... is cheap. We do not talk about USA Fender (Green wave) but same story. Every time I connect Squier to my amp I`m more than pleased with it`s sound and dont give a penny it costed me £200 not £2000.... One of the best made and sounding bass ever played (Yes Squier CV Jazz) Thank You again! Tomas
19. Hi, Anyone please help me to decode pickups properties? Which one has better ones? (Well my ears telling me this, but maybe they are not right somehow) It`s two different Basses with bridge pickup dialled, tone 100% A string. DI, same level set for both. At this stage I`ll only tell You one of them is Squier Pickup the other is "Fancy Pickup" on a fancy Bass....(green wave) Thanks in advance, Tomas
